I prefer the deep colours the glossy screen gives, however i dislike the fact Apple feels the need to make the screen hyper glossy like looking at nail polish, its just an aesthetic gimmick to make the laptop look good with the aluminium body, and most people who invest in the 17" pro, will be pro's and they really dont want gimmicks. It would be nice if the glossyness was turned down a notch, im sure this wouldnt cause any loss of colour richness.

Because the blacks are black rather than a blackish grey.

yeah but on the other hand very dark greys look like black... same with the whites and light greys, at least thats my fear.
look at the reference chart on the right side 'whites 250-244' on my girlfriends macbook its pretty hard to differ.... however i know its a complitely different panel!

Sort of irrelevant, but I was just wondering, since they put the silver bezel on, what color did they make the keyboard? The picture doesn't show the keyboard...:apple:

Each of those colours is clearly distinguishable - including the dark greys to black and whites.

But as you said, your burd's MacBook has a pretty "gash" display.

Reason it is silver is because that is what is underneath the glass panel - the black border is actually painted onto the glass.

good to hear! however to get sure i'll wait to compare it with my old mbp (matte) in a store. its because i like the stability of my burd's :D display a lot! thanks

thanks for the link!
you can see very nice the reflections on the glossy screen which dont appear on the matte screen....

I'm not in denial :D but the reflections - you do actually get used to them, and my brain has now adjusted and expects them that they don't bother me nor do I actually really notice them at all.

Of course, if I were to be Photoshopping, the reflections would be a pain, but I'd find a place where there was no reflections (e.g. not near a window).

- Kila, once a devoted matte only guy. ;)
