This is quite interesting :) If only I didn't require a guarantee of battery life due to video recording and timelapse recordings this week .. maybe after this weekend I will just restart the phone, charge to 100% and then use it without the charger and hope i notice it getting close to 1%

Just looked at my phone...suddenly the info is there. I have no idea what prevented it from appearing before, but it works now. I guess I can consider the issue to have resolved on its own. Not only that but my iPad which I didn't even touch also suddenly started to show the info. Weird.

Maybe it was still calculating it all. Especially first use?

Mine dose not last that long every body i know are impressed by the battery life except me, My iphone 6s plus uses 10% battery per hour usage on youtube and whatsapp on screen brightness at 50% is that normal?, i have attached two photos one with one hour usage and the other from a full charge to 1%, please advise.
Thanks

Seems fine and normal, especially at 50% brightness settings.

Ok guys, been forgetting to repost my battery usage. Most days I get home from work with around 75% left then play games in the evening and it runs down to about 50% but I charge every night anyway.

However I thought I would run it right down again to see what I can get. Note I wasn't trying to get a long battery life, just refrained from charging it overnight

Samsung or tsmc

I find these battery usage threads fun to read, maybe you can even use it as a vague reference if the user provides enough background information, but generally it's not that useful.

With my own usage I have noted easy ways to unintentionally manipulate such statistics: for example, 3 hours SOT using safari could be reached by long intervals of leaving the phone on whilst running Safari but without actually taxing the battery that much because of lack of actual browsing. ANd what about the brightness settings? Background usage also counts as usage time and they give a nice boosted look to it but usually drain very little battery with most apps.

I think the point is, people can get a general sense of all situations and conclude exactly what you described above

But only iphone users of sage-rank can come to such an exhilaratingly enthralling conclusion as I did, so I felt complied to enlighten.

Hi everyone, its taken a couple of days to run my 6S Plus through a couple charge cycles. Also I'm feeling less inclined to take out my pocket every 5 mins because it's new. That being said, have used it more than necessary. Screen brightness set at about 60% Auto.

What do you think?

Fyi haven't been trying to get a decent battery life, just turned off things I don't use. Like background app refresh.
I wouldn't let the battery discharge state drop below 20%, because the chances of permanent damage to battery are high, the technical term is 'Depth of Discharge' - DOD.

I got 8 hours of heavy usage time yesterday, all 4G browsing with 2 dots of signal and 3G calls. I can get approx 11 hours of WiFi use if it's just web browsing. To get more than that I'd have to turn the mobile antenna off. Not bad but could be better. Samsung 6S+.

Never fear Apple engineers have stupid proofed the battery usage. Zero percent is not at DOD. The percentage is a fake number, software generated to give a ball park figure people can use to estimate battery state of charge. The voltages at 100% and 0% are not labaoratory gaged voltages. They are set below and above damage voltages. The software will re-calibrate the percentage based on going from less than 5% to 100% as full range. After let's say six months of use the battery has lost some of it's charge capacity so 100% is no longer the same as when new. Still says 100% which technically is true. 100% of what it is now capable of holding.

If you want your battery to last the longest keep charge between 40% and 80%. This will give more than 1000 cycles. Make battery last 8 to 10 years. That way the fourth owner of the phone, that Isis guy in Syria, will still have a fair battery. Course I keep my phone for a year or two before trading in. So I don't really care. I can live with 300-500 battery cycles and be at 70-80% capacity in two years. And not become ridiculous in my charging process. It's a freaking phone, can be replaced, can get battery replaced. Charge it any way with any power adapter and you will still have 80% capacity after a year.

Usage time can be added when you don't charge it to full. Once the battery is full only then will it reset. I have 13 hrs usage time with 3% remaining but I forgot to charge it last night and charged it whlie I was at work to about 60%.

Good to see that iPhone 6S plus has come up with something that's really impressive. Thumbs up to the battery backup !! (Y) How about the battery back up of iPhone 6S?

This response is beating around the bushes and post is going off on tangents that doesn't pertain to the discussion. Let's get back to earth and stay civil. There are two things being discussed here, SOC and DOD. And the post is confusing between the two.
Back to topic of DOD, at 100% DOD, capacity reduction (lets take the worst case - 300 cycles) in a year will be such that battery capacity becomes unusable for the entire day. Keeping the DOD at 50% is far better at keeping battery capacity usable for 2-3 years, which is what the life of the phone is for me.
No one is expecting to go crazy over keeping the DOD above 20%, if the charger is available when the phone is not in use, then I would recommend charging it.
