Purple Cast? Whites white? What's Your 17" Anti-Glare like?

Just because you get a glossy model, doesn't mean it's magical and will have no backlight bleed problems. It's luck of the draw. My brother has the 24" iMac, which is of course glossy and has a huge area of bleed in the lower right corner. It's to do with the panel, and that layer of glass does nothing to magically make the bleed go away.

I just received my MBP today, and I was worried about it tbh. However, just checked - and I have no bleed at all. It's very uniform across the whole screen - and I have the matte model.

I have a question to everyone who has just received their Matte (Anti-Glare) Mac Book Pro 17" ... relating to my trip to the Apple Store where I finally saw both versions of the 17" on display. My concern is with the Anti-Glare which had a purple cast to everything, and didn't seem to be bright enough (happy it wasn't quite a BRIGHT as the glossy ... but it seemed to be far too much in the "not bright enough" category. Dimming wasn't on as far as I could tell. My question is regarding whether or not those of you who have received your Anti-Glare 17s would say your display has a blue/purple cast, and whether or not your whites are white. I suppose you might not know if you have nothing to compare it to, but if you do, I'd be curious in how your display looks, and how white the whites look on yours. I could compare both versions, and I would definitely say that only the Glossy units showed white as white. I am hoping the unit I saw either was defective or not calibrated, because it WAY off.

I've been told that some of the Mac Pro 17s have different make LED panels too. I wonder if this has something to do with the fact that some have no problem falling in love with the appearance of their LED panel and some NOT. My only exposure was in the store, and I wasn't impressed (to say the least).

It's the same crap...

The screens are the same, the only difference is the glass and the "binding agent" that secures it.
Place the glass on top of the matte screen, and KABLAAAAM! it's a glossy.

You get used to the glossy. I'd ever go back.

Hey... is that desktop pic of the Algonquin Hotel?

This is off topic, but i was wondering about the 17" Anti-glare MacBook Pro lettering on the bezel. Could someone tell me if it is raised metal like the previous gen Pro, or printed black? Thanks
