I guess if that's your thing, but I was surprised to read that some people actually take off of work just to see an apple keynote. You can easily watch it whenever you want and it certainly doesn't warrant a dire need to take off. But who am I to judge you?
 
It's a twice a year thing. Not that big a deal if one has vacation/personal days stored up. Less of an issue for those that get salary.
 
I will be. I am able to flex my schedule. I already have to work on Saturday that week with a Thursday comp day. I will be "flexing" to have Tuesday off instead. No work will actually be missed.
 
If I have a chance to attend it, then yes. Aside from that, not a big deal for me.

I'm guessing you don't have a family. If you do, you need to reassess your priorities. My wife would be kinda pissed if I used a personal day to watch something as trivial as a tech product announcement, regardless of what it is.

I didn't say everybody. And I wasn't speaking for myself. I'm retired so every day can be announcement day for all I care.

I believe the OP's point was directed to those who do take the day off. Not those who can't take the day off.
 
I'll be streaming it on my phone during work. Taking a personal day for a tech event is comical to me.
 
Well... I am most likely taking off... But not just for that. Honestly I could watch it at work.

I may take off because destiny is being released. Just a plus that the keynote is that day as well.
 
I am starting a new job that week, so I can't take off for it. But... I will watch it when I get home and I'll be available to pre-order it that Thursday night / Friday Morning.
 
Seriously?! I think it's crazy enough that people take time off work to wait in line to get the latest devices, but taking time off just to watch the announcement even though the details will be on every tech site within minutes??

I don't want to question people's priorities but...
 
LOL yes in fact I will be wearing my Apple iThong while sipping Apple juice from a wine glass as the keynote is streaming. This is iHeaven to me. iCan't wait!
 
take off, no.

stay up-to-date via live-blogs and streaming (if available) on the second monitor, sure!
 
Yes. Got the day off approved for "personal geekery." Now if I could only get the 12th off; if preorders happen then, I told my boss I'm not going to be worth a crap that day.
 
Wait, where do you guys stream the keynote? I remember last year they didn't stream the 5S keynote, or am I missing something?
 
Not to be a downer, but I think it's a little much to take off work for something like this. Nothing earth-shattering will be announced or debuted, just updates and more functionality. It's not like they have re-invented the wheel or discovered the Higgs Boson... they're updating stuff that already exists. I don't buy into the hype personally.
