Your Mac will crash and soon you'll be fed up with GoW.

6 months is not enough time to think about putting a corporate logo on yourself.

I keep thinking of that poor sap that got a Zune tat.

Think of the bloke who got a Spymac tattoo!!

That's pretty beast. But that apple needs some work...make it a little more "crisp" the gear needs to not be so crisp and be bloody and stuff, as in the actual Gears Of War logo, but the Apple needs to be an actual Apple logo.

Actually, an apple tat of

would be nice.

The only thing I would consider tattooing myself with would be a quote from a famous / intelligent historical figure. I considered getting a Voltaire tattoo with his famous saying, even a couple of Latin ones but I'd be hard pressed to get anything that is modern (and by modern I mean anything in the last 50 years or so) as it has not been time tested.

I mean in 5 years no one is going to remember what the hell GoW was. It wasn't a particularly revolutionary title, and Apple are just another company trying to make money. Still if you want to be a free advertisement that's your choice.

I'd be as embarrassed as hell to walk into an Apple store with that though. Talk about try hard.

Still as tattoos go it looks a lot better than most Apple tattoos so at least you have that going for you :).

I hope you called Apple and asked them for free stuff (payment for advertising) before you did this?!

What about the Fulham fan who got the club crest tattooed over his entire back, then came home only to find out the club had changed their badge!

Or this...

Local rivalries, of course, are a worldwide phenomenon, and few are more fierce than that surrounding the Buenos Aries clásico between CA River Plate and CA Boca Juniors. And so, returning to the lavatorial theme established earlier, we bring this delicate tale from Argentina. A teenage Boca fan was pondering how best to show his love for the former home of Diego Maradona, and decided to have the club crest tattooed on his back. So he approached a professional, who sure enough got to work. Perhaps there was a little pain, but it was all worth it, and when it was done the young supporter, who we feel best remains nameless, returned home to show off his new adornment to his parents. Unfortunately the tattooist was a River Plate fanatic, and had etched an, er, old fella, that is to say a gentleman's organ, well something every rude anyway on to the Boca-backer's back. The victim, who is considering mounting a lawsuit, told Terra newspaper: "I could not see what he was tattooing because he didn't have a mirror. I only saw it when I got home and showed it to my parents." Crumbs. A police spokesperson, not sharing Off the Ball's delicate sensibilities, announced: "The tattooist supports Boca Junior's rivals, River Plate, so he got annoyed when the teenager asked him to tattoo Boca's symbol and decided to tattoo a penis instead. Unbelievable!"

ROTFLMAO! :D

the only tattoo i would get is a phrase or word or a symbol like my baby's hand or feet when born

ones i have been playing with are

1) perseverance
2) a meaningful latin phrase

and id put the phrase on the inside of my bicep area in a nice font

the hand or footprint would be on the back of one of my shoulders

I call BS on that story. B freakin' S.

come on guys

I'm posting to address some of the arguments that have been made against my choice though I still appreciate all the feedback. Lets start with the more discussed ones first:

Regrets-First of all has anyone that over the age of 30 regretted something that they DID NOT do as a kid? Well I don't want to do that. Just as a regret towards what you did as a child will haunt you so will a regret of what you didn't do will also haunt you. Second tattoos in the workplace have become more prevalent since the last 20 or so years. If you were to walk into a corporate office 20 years ago with a tattoo you would have been frowned upon. Now, in modern times, it isnt so bad, heck your boss probably has a tattoo or two. As times go on there will be more and more of them. so no regrets on my part.

The apple- walking advertisement. Corporate logo. Hey look around. CHances are that the shirt your wearing or the purse you have (for the ladies) or the glasses you sport all have a logo. Times have changed and everywhere you look, one way or another other everyone is a walking advertisement. secondly while apple MIGHT go under has anyone done their research on the apple???? someone earlier mentioned "TIME TESTED" whats been here longer than the bible??? Anyone remember Adam and Eve, thats were the apple design came from thus thats why the bite mark is their (heck the first apple computer was sold for $666 LOL). I made sure that I chose something that would not only reflect modern times but also last for much longer. The apple logo fit perfectly.

The Gear- Guys I didn't pick the gear for a game. I pick the gear for its design, I liked the way it looked. I didn't just want an apple on my leg so I went hunting for a good surrounding piece and it just so happens gears of war had one. The focus of the tat isn't towards the gear at all it merely compliments it.

THere I hope I addressed all issues and I knoe I cant make everyone a believer but I just felt the need to adress the issue. To all the good feedback
, thanks I really appreciate that you like it and understand its meaning. Happy commenting ....:apple:

Damn I should not have said apple store ,sorry! I was just saying that because that's the first thing that came to my mind. The fact of the matter is that the you can have more control over exposure on the calf versus your back ( can u walk into a store without a shirt ???)

Hey if you want to mutilate your skin and bogan yourself up for the season, that's your choice. I know about 5 people aged 40-50 with tattoos and every single one regrets it. And no, it wasn't something as a kid, they were in their twenties. Too impractical to remove.

Also consider positioning. If it's visible, many respectable employers probably won't employ you for skilled work. Think long and hard about it though, the reason you are supposed to be 18 to get a tattoo is that you should be smart enough not to by that age.

Edit: Not trying to insult you, but satisfying temporary amusements with permanent things is not a good idea.

At least you've thought about it. Your counterpoints are missing something, though.

Ah, but the things we regret usually do not involve something quite so permanent, public (or vast) at that tattoo.

I can pretty much guarantee that nobody in the company above me has skin art, but then I don't work in a surf shop, either. Granted, the field will have a lot to do with it, but in most workplaces, the only tattoos are worn at the "bottom of the food chain." Think about it.

I can take off a shirt. ;)

So why not Adam & Eve holding an Apple apple? :D

Best point so far from an artistic point of view, but since the "frame" should have as much meaning as the subject (especially in a tattoo), you might want to consider something less "dominating," particularly if GoW isn't all that big a deal to you.

Hardly. My managers manager has 2 complete sleves, so saying that tattoos are only worn at the "bottom of the food chain" is BS tbh

LOL @ getting any brand/household name tattoo'd on you, probably THE dumbest tat you could get. And how can you compare getting a tat thats advertising a product to wearing brand name clothes...I can take this Lacoste polo shirt off....can you take off your apple tattoo?

Then again you get tattoos for yourself, so if that's what you want then go for it, just don't make a new thread in a couple months time asking for advice on laser treatment lol ;)

more important

How different would this thread have been if I had titled it
40th birthday = Apple inspired tattoo
Again I appreciate all the positive and negative feedback. some feedback is better than no feedback. Here some of the things I read and wanted to bring up.
Also consider positioning. If it's visible, many respectable employers probably won't employ you for skilled work.
Your semi-right, while I don't really agree with you on the employer discriminating on the basis of body art, I did take that into consideration, hence the calf became the optimal choice. Would you ever wear shorts to an interview??
So as it affecting my chance at employment, I believe that is not an issue.

the reason you are supposed to be 18 to get a tattoo is that you should be smart enough not to by that age.
This just made me laugh. Any evidence to back up your claim?

Back to the walking advertisement. While yes you can take off a shirt but the point is that you cant go on in life without wearing A shirt,purse,glasses,shoes,.... without advertising something. The tattoo is just a shirt I cant change(not being literal here) and cant modify.
Thats why I modified the apple to not look too much like the apple logo and more of my own creation. Yes some of the inspiration came from the love of the company but mostly from the significance of the apple. The apple logo is one the most symbolic yet widely known symbols out there, so I just took it and made it my own.

Overall I am pleased with decision and only time will tell how this will affect my life. On a lighter note: I've been drawing up design for my next tat.... but I need some help. I want to get a huge back-piece of the walmart name...:D
