My pleasure! :)

I have been a user of 1Password for many years... iMac, MBA, iPad, iPhone, Win 7/Parallels, Win 7. I have had had both family plans (from the Agile website) and MAS plans.

Personally, even though I already owned 1Password 3... I purchased the MAS version of 1Password 3 last Thanksgiving when the had a sale. I did this because they announced that the upgrade to 1Password 4 would be free. Personally... I have a strong preference for MAS distribution because the update process happens asynchronously rather than at program launch.

BY FAR... the single greatest thing that I love about 1Password is their customer support. When I had problems with syncing my single 1P vault between 3 different users (my personal account, my wife's account, and my personal work account)... on many different computers... including several computers that had all three login accounts... a quick note to Kyle had me flooded with information on how to solve my issue... including deep help from the full customer support team. Having someone like Kyle being available just a quick PM away on MacRumors... coupled with his responsiveness and true desire to help has won me over as a customer for life (or at least until Kyle quits).

Hey Jim!

It's fantastic to hear from you again :)

From the bottom of my heart. Thank you for this. I can't really express how much it meant to read this. Honestly, a little teary eyed here. Thank you...

If there's anyone to thank here I think it's the founders of AgileBits for founding a company that puts the power to do what is right for the customers in the hands of the customer support team. We believe in 1Password and we honestly want our users to be happy with it. It's much more fun to be able to make someone happy than to make them upset.

If anyone here is having trouble, let me know, you're free to ask for me in a support email if you want. I don't give up on the hard problems, we'll get it worked out.

Hi Kyle,

This is how strongly I feel for 1Password, after spending many years visiting MacRumors, I only just signed and was compelled to post this.

Bar far this is my favourite application ever! I really enjoy each release (iOS and OSX) with additional functionality, improved user interface and graphical updates. I am really liking this version thank you.

A massive thanks for all those responsible for 1Password. Looking forward to future releases.

Hey! Welcome to MacRumors :)

I've posted this to our internal company chat so everyone can see. It's fantastic to hear that people are enjoying 1Password. It's been 2 hard years of work to get this released and our developers are happy to hear both the good and bad, tomorrow they'll get back to fixing bugs that pop up and improving it even more!

Thank YOU for being a 1Password user. From everyone here at AgileBits, enjoy the new version!

"We’re having some issues with our website so you can only purchase and download 1Password from the Mac App Store at this time. We hope to have these resolved in the next day or two."

The upgrade options are here:

https://agilebits.com/store/upgrade?product_id=108

Enter your license into the box

oddly, it will let me upgrade to the Windows version or Win + Mac but not the Mac version; even though I only have a a Mac and Mac v3 license.

Any word on the upgrade pricing, I was a loyal v3 user, and a frequent user of the beta? Can you send an email to the beta list with any discounts?

The agilebits store shows the same price for the v3 -> v4 as buying v4 outright :(

We're still working on it. It's slowly coming up. If you're having a specific issue with purchasing do send me a PM with your license key so I can take a look into it.

Pricing is available on our blog:

http://blog.agilebits.com/2013/10/03/1password-4-for-mac-is-here/

* All Mac App Store customers get 1Password 4 for free. Yes, all of them
* All website customers who purchased 1Password for Mac in 2013 get v4 for free. Yes, that’s a nine-month free upgrade window
* Launch sale price for new customers: $39.99 – that’s 20% off the regular price of $49.99
* Launch upgrade sale price for website customers who bought before 2013: $24.99 – that’s $10 off our regular upgrade price of $34.99

----------

Replied to your PM but for those following along at home, we _just_ got upgrade options up and running. So, if you have tried and it wasn't giving you upgrade options matching our pricing outlined on the blog, try now :)

Slowly but steadily we'll have the site running. I'm not sure what caused these issues but I do apologize for the trouble.

No worries; it worked. Without bugs, tech would be nearly as fun... I am looking forward to the upgrade; even though 1P3 has been really super and I rely on it extensively.

Thanks,

Oh, I think many things you enjoyed about version 3 were improved in many ways. The Mini app has some super fun new features planned :) Keep your eyes pealed for future updates, I think you'll find it even more super.

I figured this is why they just came out witht e upgade NOW. They need that last big bit of cash before their income tanks

They've been planning this new release for some time but it was really pushed with the announcement of OS X Maverick.

I qualify for the upgrade price, and I don't plan on using iCloud for sync cause I like Dropbox, but I have no problems paying $40 for this. This is by far my most used app on the laptop, more so than any of my individual browsers since I switch between all of them.

Thanks for creating this. It's been a huge time saver!

Thanks for using 1Password! We wouldn't be able to do this without users like yourself :)

I had been a LastPass Premium user for many years, but their iOS app was very poor IMO. I bought the 1Password iOS app when it was on sale, and ran the beta of 4.0 for quite a few weeks. I saw the news that 1Password was released earlier today via Twitter, and I bought it on the MAS as soon as I got home from work.

Fantastic software, and I am happy to support great developers with my hard earned money. I love the syncing via Dropbox, as I share the database with my wife on her iPhone and Macbook Air too.

Very happy with this software.

1Password 4 from Splash ID?

I've been a Splash ID user since Palm Pilot days. I bought 1 Password 3 some time ago when it was on sale and was intending to switch, but found that I couldn't customize or rename the fields in some of the categories, or (I think) rename or add categories themselves. It was all very locked down and predetermined. So I stayed with Splash.

Has that changed in 1Password4?

Welcome to the family! :) Glad to hear 1Password is working well for you and your wife.

1Password now allows the creation of custom fields.

@ Kyle

I have 1Password 3 for both Mac and iOS. I use WiFi syncing because I don't want my passwords in the cloud. I know you've said that 1Password 4 Mac and iOS will eventually have WiFi syncing, but for now, is there a way to sync between 1 Password 4 for Mac and 3 for iOS without using cloud services? Thanks.

I have a PS3 and other devices that don't support 1Password. How are you 1Password users managing the non-supported devices, for example when buying stuff from PSN or Xbox stores? Passwords have become a pain in the ass lately so I'm really interested in starting to use 1Password.

Same question here. Also with AES-256 encryption being as good as it gets at the moment, does anyone know if '1Password' users have ever been compromised, either thru hacking of the '1Password' servers, or even a much less scary scenario, just the individual sites, one visits with '1Password'?

At the moment, the only way to sync without the cloud to 1Password 4 for Mac and 1Password 3 for iOS is to setup the following:

1Password 4 for Mac syncs using Folder Sync (Preferences->Sync) and then have 1Password 3 for Mac open the Folder Sync'ed data file. Then 1Password 3 to wifi syncing.

So, not so fun.

As far as the encryption side of things. Keep in mind that we do _not_ store your data. There is no way anyone would be able to attack our servers and get to your data.

In terms of compromises in the app, none that we are aware of.

Also know that once the data leaves our app and is inserted into your browser, we can't control the security any longer. If the site is broken into and their security compromised, this is out of our control. We simply store the password in our database, how the website stores your data is completely independent of our own.

This is the main reason why we suggest using unique random passwords for each site. If a site is broken into and your password is compromised then you only have that one single site to worry about as opposed to every site that uses that same password. Unique passwords are key here.

I want to make this clear though, the above scenario is the same whether you use 1Password or not. It's not 1Password that is the weak link in the above, it's how the website stores their data on their own servers. Just editing to clarify that. The unique random password protects you from sites that have a security issue themselves. (like this: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/1649478/)

Thanks! BTW, my copy keeps throwing this error about creating backups; basically it can't for whatever reason. Is anyone else seeing this?

Edit: Never mind. A reboot seems to have fixed the backup not writing issue.

You're very welcome!

Signing off here for the night, so any other questions I'll get to in the morning if people have any.

Hey Kyle.
It looks a great update, I'm liking it so far, and the anchor function is very useful.

My quick question is; is there any benefit to using icloud for syncing over dropbox? There is no extra (iOS or OSX) integration is there?

I am just wondering if I should bother switching.

Thanks!

The upgrade prices for Windows, Mac + Windows, Mac are the same and don't depend on the license being upgraded from. An example - a single user license of one of the platform products gets the same upgrade pricing for family licenses as what a family license holder gets.

I understand this could get a bit complex, but treating family license holders on par with single user license holders does not seem fair. Some may argue that single license holders pay more on a per person basis, but still, there are no "separate upgrade prices" on the web store - there is only one set of upgrade prices for all web store customers.

Here's hoping that the OS X Mavericks release will bring larger upgrade discounts for 1Password and several other apps. I plan to wait it out for a while.
