Right now, there's no reason to buy one, especially when the required to use iPhone is in your pocket less than 2 feet away. Unless you're so incredibly lazy you can't be bothered to get up from your desk and go get it from the charger (assuming your charger is not on your desk).

I'd rather save the $349+ and pull my phone out of my pocket :)

IKR?!?!

Why would I want a TV remote when I can just walk over to the TV and change the channel? Lazy!

Why would I need a TiVo/DVR when I have a perfectly good VCR? Dumb!

Why would I need a microwave when I have an awesome oven? Lazy!

Why would I even need an oven when I can make a fire just fine? No fire-making skills!

Why would I need a *remote* garage door opener when I can get out of my car and just open the garage? I don't care if it's raining! Lazy!

Why do I need a cell phone when there are payphones on every corner??? Duh!

Why are you in this forum?. Anything I can say from here on would break Mac rumors code of conduct policies

The poster is rendering an opinion. Are you saying the only valid ones have to be positive about the AW? Why are you in this forum? Your post contributes nothing to the advancement of the topic. I say that knowing full well that my response to your post does the exact same thing: add nothing. How about we both find ways to engage in discourse that furthers the topic instead of chastising opinions we don't agree with? I'm willing.

Yep - don't let's remember ANYTHING anymore!

And then if the phone battery dies while you are in the shower, say, you have to go home in your towel? To my mind, a few things in life should not require any electronics. Our memory performance is steeply declining as it is.

I pay my parents' bills over the phone. This is going to be great because I won't be chained to my iPad or my computer just to get the bits of info I always need like routing numbers and the like.

Just what I want to do...hold my arm up while I try to type my 20+ character password with the other hand.

I love 1Password. I use it everyday on my Mac and my iPhone. Their team does a great job. However, this is yet another instance, I think, where a developer is trying make their app work with Apple Watch just because it's the newest thing and they're grasping at straws in terms of practical use cases.

Edit: Ok, they're saying that the watch app will be valuable for entering short passwords or combinations and credit card numbers -- not 20+ character passwords. Fair enough.

Although, it seems strange that on one hand, Apple is marketing the watch as something to remind you be more active; yet on the other hand, they're also marketing it as something that will make you not have to get up to go get your phone across the room or down the hall. Genius marketing.

Right - and then developers carved out niche applications and reasons to buy an iPad an iPhone.

In a year or two, the -Watch will be a very nice device with niche applications. Right now, there's no reason to buy one, especially when the required to use iPhone is in your pocket less than 2 feet away. Unless you're so incredibly lazy you can't be bothered to get up from your desk and go get it from the charger (assuming your charger is not on your desk).

Early adopters are great to try out new technology. The mainstream average "I want an iPhone because my friends all have iPhones" user won't buy one for a few years yet.

Convenience always has a price. For some, that price is a lot higher than others. The point to remember is that it's your price, not everyone else's...beyond that, it's just an opinion.

The no reason comment was written in a declarative fashion, but it was an opinion nonetheless. People who pre-ordered the AW did so for a variety of different reasons; apps being one of them. But ordering the watch doesn't indicate people think there are enough apps. There's no correlation.

As for sales figures... yeah, there are none. That 1 million estimate you're probably referencing as sales figures, sorry, but that's not sales figures. That was an estimate extrapolated from a sample of data. Says so right in the article. Hardly something that can be used as evidence of satisfaction with the AW app ecosystem.

On topic: 1Password is a pretty good app. Any improvements the company makes is only a good thing.

Refuting the "opinion" was far too easy to do for there to be a lack of apps in the App Store designed for the Apple Watch; however, I do love how you took my sales figures comment as fact and not opinion yet try to defend another post taking the same stance on a different topic. Sorry the point was lost on you.

Understand your point but how can you compare your pocket to any of these, especially when it's just as much effort to pick a phone out of your pocket as there is to lift your wrist.

Probably the only post in this thread that actually makes a real point! Kudos.

Not when posts are written as though they are stating fact.

BS, almost everything on MacRumors is opinion. The few statistics occasionally quoted are not near as important as "here is what I would do".

Get real. Quotes like "the new mini sucks" or "the Mac Pro is not a pro level machine" or "Apple needs an iPad Pro" are always from a particular user's point of view. Without users there are no need for products.

I'm like every other Mac enthusiast. I don't care whether a product is good or not but rather it's good for me. My neighbor can make his own decisions.

Do people who are tech-savvy enough to use 1Password on an Apple Watch do this?

3/5 pizza places near me allow me to order via a website or app.

This made me think that Domino's Pizza is going to be all over this watch. They seem to jump on tech pretty quickly. For example, besides normal online and app ordering, one can track the progress of their order on their Pebble watch. Also, one can order pizza using Ford Sync in their car. So *something* with the Apple watch will come sooner than later.

Not that this is a killer feature by any means, lol  just a thought since pizza was mentioned. And this example helps your point that we won't need to see our credit card number on our wrist for pizza.

You had it easy. Back in my day, I did all of that and had to walk up-hill BOTH ways just to do it. And I was happy to do it too.

This is neat, but most of the places where I would enter a password are either on my iPhone or Mac, which already has 1Password. As for remembering simple combination locks and garage door codes—are we really that unable to remember simple six and four digit numerical codes? The purpose of 1Password was so that you could make really complicated passwords—which are often difficult to remember—and easily store them and use them when you need to. I can be somewhat forgetful. My first smartphone, an original iPhone, helped me massively when it came to being on time and remembering events in my calendar and everything else. Became much more organized. But remembering a garage door code seems pretty easy unless you somehow have a really long code on your door.

Except the reply was using incorrect data to make an observational statement, not declaring an opinion. If you're going to grasp at straws (intentionally or not), it's probably better to not reply at all.

I'll add tracking Dominos deliveries to the list of things I might do if I had an Apple Watch. I've got a fairly large list now (~20 items) but it's still not enough to justify even the cheapest of Apple Watches.

Why on earth does Ford Sync allow you to order pizza via it? That just seems incredibly weird. Ordering anything not autorelated from a computer specifically built into your car just seems weird.

Yes remembering the code for your garage door is rather easy. However remembering the code for your parents garage door that you only need once every six months that's harder. There are several codes or passwords that I rarely use that are location-based. This app would be very helpful. Currently I keep those codes in 1password notes.

There's no war to be fought. It's differences in opinion. Plain and simple. You offered no evidence there are enough apps in App Store for AW aside from your assertion that sales data indicate it. If you know of any evidence, I would love to see it. I love how you took my comment about evidence of satisfaction as an accusation of you declaring fact. Not sure what you read, but it definitely wasn't what I wrote. I offered no opinion of whether or not I thought you were representing your opinion as fact. Since it was pretty clear you weren't (you know, with your 'I believe', opinion instead of fact was readily apparent). You did use "sales figures" as evidence to support your opinion. I pointed out the fact there are no sales figures to use as evidence. Nowhere did I say or imply you were representing your opinion as fact. <-- That indeed is a fact.;) And I'm pretty sure you know, just like I do, the words 'evidence' and 'fact' are not synonyms. One supports the other.

I used sales figures (I should've clarified the estimated), and shipping dates slipping to indicate that there are reasons to get an Apple Watch. The shipping dates slipping is indicative of Apple Watches being purchased and therefore indicates people have found reason to pick one up. Which falls back to the original comment of no apps must equal no reason to pick one up, which simply is not true.

Oh geeze, give it a rest fanboy. People are allowed to express opinions you don't share without you lecturing them. Pretty much everything expressed here is an OPINION, including your self important ones.

So pull your phone out of your pocket. I love 1password, but on a watch? Seems a solution in need of a problem.

Yes, but is it worth a minimum of $349 to save yourself from pulling your iPhone out of your pocket, launching 1Password, and looking at the note? Only you can answer that question; but for me, it's nowhere near worth it.

Personally, Apple has not done a good enough job convincing me, an owner of an iPhone 6, why I need to spend money on a watch that as of now, gets virtually all of its data from my iPhone anyway.

In a year or two when the watch will probably be able to do some things that my iPhone can't do well, the Apple Watch will likely be more interesting to me. Not right now, though.

This is nothing i cant already do with a pen and paper. Write password on paper. Pull out of pocket. Read it. How lazy do you have to be?

(this is very blatant sarcasm as I know 50% of this board lacks the understanding of it)

I currently use LastPass but I'd really like to try out 1Password. Their interface and Mac support looks awesome. Unfortunately, their licensing model looks confusing and prohibitively expensive. Their password sharing model also looks confusing.

A primary requirement I have is that I need my passwords from any device. At home I have 2 Macs and a Windows thing. At work I have a couple of Windows boxes as well. I also go to my parent's place and use their computer as well. I've also got a bunch of iOS devices. It sounds like I've got to buy a license for all these devices. And it looks like if I were being legit about things, I'd have to buy 7 licenses. Maybe I could get by with a single Mac and PC license and share those between the devices, but I don't know if that's possible. The website didn't have obvious answers to these questions.

Then there's the issue of my rest of my family using 1Password on the same devices. I don't know if they need licenses. And then there's the issue of sharing the password between these devices. There's all this talk on the website about using Dropbox to share password and then there's other talk of using iCloud. Then there's the issue of upgrades. Apparently every (major) upgrade costs something. Grrrrr....

LastPass's model seems much simpler to follow (free browser plugin + optional yearly premium subscription) covers all my devices. Everything is cloud-synced. The interface is clunky, but manageable.

Maybe there's some "easy" button on the 1Password website I missed?

I recently lost the wireless key fob for my car so I had to use actually the key to unlock the door for a week. Yes, the process was "just taking the key out of my pocket, inserting it into the lock, and turning..."

But let me tell you... That was irritating... Fortunately I found the key fob.

15 years ago (when wireless key fobs might not have been as standard as they are today) -- I would have thought anyone complaining about using a key was an idiot... But put your wireless away in a drawer for a week and get back to me.

IMO once people start to become accustomed to using a "smart watch," not using one might feel like losing a wireless key fob, but 100 times worse. Of course, I don't have a smart watch yet but I can see that day coming.

I thought this thread was about 1Password.
