I switched to Minimalist a year ago and love it. I'm all in favor of paying for software that provides value to you, and I was a user of 1Password for a decade. The past few years they've added 'features' I don't care about and the new app interfaces are terrible to me. I love how simple Minimalist is, and perpetual licensing is icing on the cake. I would like proper shared vaults (versus importing backups from family) but I understand the lack of cross-platform support keeping others from adoption.

Personally, I can't imagine not using 1Password. 1Password has been essential for corporate and team settings, especially when you're onboarding and offboarding people often. It provides a really nice permissions scheme for org management. Platform agnostic so doesn't matter if someone's a Windows + Android employee vs a Mac + iOS employee. I've tried all the others and none support teams with the same feature set.

All great but it seems I have to enter my 1Password master password frequently with these newer version than before on various devices. I think this is a security issue since the master password is being used more... it should never be asked for again after initially setting up a device, and instead another password could be generated/used. Having to enter the Master password all the time (especially if you are using secure complex characters) is inconvenient. I think this may be an iOS issue though since other apps seem to lose passwords after a while.

It's always good to have 1Password threads on here so everyone can express their delight for subscription-based software! 😃

But the gradual roll out of passkeys is great and much welcome news.
Especially those of us who got suckered into buying extra-expensive upfront "lifetime" purchases, only for 1Pass to then turn around and say those purchases were only valid for that specific release of software, which would no longer be supported, and we'd need to pay a subscription fee to continue using it.

Very glad I ditched this company - if they're shady with lying about what they're selling you, they'll be shady about the product and your security, folks.

I don't mind paying for 1Password. I tried the free stuff after unsubscribing and crawled back to 1Password. I use 1Password for a lot more than just passwords. I don't know how their product will work with this new technology though or if it is needed.
I've used 1Password for many many years on MBP, iPhone, iPad and do NOT have a monthly fee. Originally purchased on Apple App Store. I suppose Im grandfathered in on version 6.8.9

It'll only be seamless on Apple products. For what it's worth, that's limiting your environment. Some of us aren't tied to that ecosystem, or might eventually want to "look beyond the wall".
I agree. My oldest daughter and me both use Linux and it’s nice that it works on everything.

I'm still on 7, but my experience has been the same, 1Password's Safari integration and iOS apps seem increasingly more forgetful, and in the case of the browser extension, plain flaky over the last year or so.

Working cross-platform will be great. I also wonder if Passcodes can be used by teams. 1Password is great for dev teams that need to securely share resources like logins, API keys, etc.

I love 1Password. To me it's truly the best way to manage your passwords and the best way to access them from any device you own, no matter the OS.

It's a delight to use and you get a consistent experience across all your devices. It just works.

The fact that I will be able to use passkeys in the same consistent way on my Mac, iPhone, iPad, gaming PC and the occasional Linux VM is just pure gold to me.
Totally agree. As much as I hate paying $5 a month, nothing else works the same way. Fantastical is the same lol.

Go to 8, disable the extension, and set 1Password as your autofill and 1Password's security to Require Password Never. Then you can just use Face ID for everything and its behavior is about the same as keychain.

I always laugh when people complain about 5 dollars a month for family/3 for individual for 1password while they are probably the same people who drive teslas and go to starbucks every morning.
You got the second part right, but I drive a Scion xB with two hubcaps missing 😜 (Probably because I go to Starbucks every morning!!)

I would not mind paying. I won’t store my passwords on anything other than our devices. Switching to EnPass (corrected)

Great another 1Password story. So all the non-1P users can post how they don't use it and why is sucks.

For those of who use the product and find it valuable, this is just another great advancement. I don't use Safari on macOS, so Passcodes in Ventura are currently useless for me. I have been waiting for 1P to announce support since they are member of the FIDO alliance.
