Hold on my phone is still syncing my data back so one it's over i will test....but im not sure if the app has it built in yet maybe it's not even in the app until they release an update that includes it . but under the readme it shows that you can now build your apps with this feature

no just the dot moved idk it may be because i didnt go very far i will test it more tommorow when i actually drive somewhere

Doesnt it disable the phone in your iPhone and lock it into development mode?

I think the reference is to the install page. It says once 2.1 is installed you cannot go back to 2.0

Yeah thats how it was when I tested 2.0 when everyone else had 2.0 but supprisingly last night just to try it i put the 2.1 into dfu mode and it let me downgrade back to 2.0:eek:

Did they fix the system sounds problem? *fingers crossed*

We really have to wait until September?? That's over a month of constantly missing text messages since my sounds don't work. :(

From what I've read there are two different updates. 2.0.1 which should hopefully be out in a few weeks will fix bugs and other small problems.

2.1 which is what this thread is about is more of a features plus stability upgrade that will be out in September possibly.

That's a relief! I'm not a very patient person. ;)

With everyones lag problems, i've just tested my iPhone 3G with my iPhone 2G 2.0 FW and there is a definate difference.

With my 2G having been updated and all that loads it seems to lag behind and definitely crashes ALOT! My 3G actually is at least 1 second fasted!

I hope there is an upgrade soon for the lagging of my 2G phone (not just for me, but for the person who I am selling it to)

Does it improve 3g reception at all.

The biggest complaint is the 3g reception is not as good as compared to other 3g phones on ATT. Does it improve at all with this update?

This is all I've got in ADC.

Yes in order to receive firmware 2.1 you have to pay the $99 developer fee, if someone decides to send you the update file. I believe it would probably work, of course I am not sure.

Have you paid to be in the iPhone Developer Programme?

I have paid the $99 fee to become a registered developer, but I only see the same. :)

The push notification is critical to the type of application I want to develop (it is virtually useless without these), but no 2.1 means I can't even start to look at it.

Thirded (or fourthed?)

Apple charged my CC for $99 on July 11th, and I don't see 2.1. I wonder if you have to have submitted an app before the new firmware will show up...

I hope that is not the case. Some of us need to wait for the additional alert infrastructure to be in place before our applications are workable/practical. I would like to be able to at least read some of the additional SDK notes.. meh.

No, it seems you have to have been accepted into the iPhone programme before 11th July as well. (Source)

Can I just let all you iPhone Developers know about a great little thing called Usenet... ;)
