I updated my phone last night, and charged it fully last night. This morning I listened to some music for 30 mins and then besides my emails being every hour, I didn't use my phone.

Unplugged it at 7.30 by 12.30 lunchtime it was 20% remaining. Normally I use it more and the battery lasts till I get home and charge it about 7ish.

Am considering looking if I can roll back the update.

By the way. A free app on the App Store called "Free Memory" will so your battery status in percentage.

HE told you. Apparantly its in settings, probably under general. I didnt update to 2.2.1 so I cant confirm.

Oh... I thought you knew something since you sounded like you saw it too. There's nothing there..... I think he's messin' with us.

I havnt done the update either.. imma skeered to! People are having to many problems. Everthing seems to be fine right now, for me anyways. Battery icon looks good to me

The app "Free Memory" is not free :) and according to AppShopper it never was (0.99) and "iStat - System Monitoring" seems to do a similar thing. There are some threads on it at MR: iStat released! (started by TheSpaz) and iStat for iPhone Coming Soon.

IMHO the best thing you can do for your iDevice's battery is to read this very official document: Apple - Batteries - iPhone (the same in German language). Uh, and always press the home button before "shutting down" (=switching off screen) via standby button.

Id can confirm that about the battery and this new update.
I've been using Beejive for a hour and a half and still shows full battery.. Id tho it was just me, but i guess not.

I'm sorry... I guess I was mistaken. I forgot that I had to initially buy Free Memory because I wanted to see my battery percentage. I hope iStat puts a battery status in a future release.

By the way, I'm the one who started the iStat released thread... I know about iStat but, it does not show your battery percentage.

My battery life seems the same after the update. With all the updates released for both iPhones, I don't think I have ever noticed a significant change in battery life after an update. I just hope the next iPhone has a better battery.

Battery life kills me with the iPhone. I need to get a car charger soon. I'm charging my iPhone every night. I used to be able to get 2-3 days with my BB. The battery is my only gripe.

Turn off location services if you have it on. This drains the battery more than anything. If you need to use the GPS, turn it on when you use it.

That's not true. Location Services doesn't drain the battery just by being on, using Maps or any app that uses the GPS is what drains the battery.

Someone asked me what I did to get the awsome battery life on the iphone 3G. so here's the thread that talks about it.

Also, for all you guys that hate the battery life on your 3G. Do you plan on updating to the new iphone in June (if thats the date)? If yes, than why not enjoy the iphone to the FULLEST without worrying about battery life till than? Just add a 2nd battery to your iphone like I did and your set! Guys, just imagine using the iphone for movies, you tube, wifi,3G web browsing, email your heart away, don't worry about turning off THIS and THAT to get better battery life. ADD THE 2ND BATTERY and you will love your iphone all over again!

Afraid to do it? Let me do it for you. I have no idea what to charge but make me a nice ofer and I will do it for you. I can send the iphone back the next day. PM me if you would like the service and make me an offer.

I can add 2 NEW batteries to your iphone. It will be just as slim as having the one battery. PM me for details, but PLEASE dont waste my time, serious people only.

Thanks.

Well all I know is I couldnt make it a full day through school with my ipod in sleep mode with location services on and moderate useage throughout the day.

The only thing I changed was turning location services off and I get MUCH improved battery life.

Why this is I havent the foggiest...

Why were you saying the numerical battery option was in 2.2.1 when you say right there its because its jailbroken?

how did u get the numbers on the iphones insteada the battery icon.... is it jailbroken?
Yes, numbers means jailbroken.

I just love how everyone has different results with this phone and it's battery.

Me, I go 3 days without a charge.

But I have PUSH turned off and am not a power user by any stretch. I might have 2 hours of usage in those 3 days.
