I realllly need the 2.6ghz dual G5 for my music productions

I 'realllly' need the 2.6ghz dual G5 for my music productions. My dual 1.25g has run out of speed and my productions have stopped. I do 24bit 96k multitrack Exclusively.

Does anyone have even a clue how long I have to wait??????

Cheers

Well, everyone things that the updates are MORE THAN OVERDUE: YOU LISTEN AT APPLE !!! MORE THAN OVERDUE !!!

But noone knows.

I think Apple put on on the back burner because of the potential of selling all of these university monsters. Guess our needs pale in comparison to sales on that level...

Sorry to see them unable to deal with such growth, and after the big music push with Logic software to support our industry too.

I think Jobs should re-think the delays.

Cheers

A follow-up to my post about my delayed order for G5 and 23" cinema etc.

This morning I checked the order status on-line. The estimated shipping had changed!! From 21/1/04 to 18/12/2003. A pdf of it is now saved on my HD.

Now that is impressive inventory software!

i dont see why you are complaining, I use studio mx, photoshop, final cut pro, and they all run fine on my beige g3, you should be happy about what you have. I really doubt you NEED one.

Power Mac Updates

You have no problems running Final Cut on a 500mhz machine? I'm not sure what you're doing, but I can manage to give even the dual 2 ghz machines plenty to deal with in Final Cut and After Effects. I believe the updates are long overdue... What are we on month eight now? And what about the imacs?

Another Tuesday has passed with no announcements and all I can do is keep my fingers crossed for next week. They could at least throw a price drop out there.

What does VIDEO graphics have to do with music throughput.

YOU ARE CLUELESS. Go to hell!

untwist the panties...

He was stating this because video and audio will tax the throughput of the bus, memory and disk systems. He was simply saying that using older systems can work.

As a point of reference, I was highly productive and profitable using PhotoShop, QXP, Illustrator, Streamline and many other high-end graphics applications on Mac IIci, Quadras and Centris machines.

i am saying...

I am just saying most of you rich snobby graphics idiots think you NEED a new computer when one comes out. I would say I am closer to needing a new computer then any of you. And just a note, video work is more processor intensive then just audio work, this is a fact. I can run fcp just fine, yes it does run sluggish when the memory begins to pageout, but other than that is runs just fine. And just so you know, eir, i goto the best private school in new york right now, we just recently (today) had NASA scientists visit. So I can definitely afford any computer that i need errrr want haha. The fact is, i can run it just fine, and I am very productive with photoshop and FCP. I don't know why all you people think you NEED top of the line, you don't. Just another note, i know someone who does 3d graphics design, audio work, and FCP junk all on a pmac dual 500 mhz g4 (gigabit ethernet model) without any complaints at all, and he has never missed a due date for anything.

[EDIT: oh yes, eir, you should goto hell because a computer speed can not runout you clueless monkey! Is that what you tell your clients?, oh my speed ran out]

I hope you were not talking to me! I was defending your position and statement. And please, don't lump us graphics people into one group, the same that I will not lump private school kids into the group "jerk-off." BTW, most of us are not rich by any stretch of the imagination.

And I agree with your edit! 🙂

Ok no dude, not at all, ur on my side man, sorry for the minor confusion. By rich snobby graphics guys i mean the people who think the NEED a new comp when they actualy don't. Well then again, we dont actualy need any high tech computer technology at all, we could go back to chasing after our food and migrating.

Maybe other forums you visit tolerate such ignorant, insulting, immature comments like this, but not MacRumors. Be careful or you might just get banned. Consider your post reported to the moderator.

Here's some advice - try and carry on a mature, civilized discussion in the future and try not to resort to calling people names and condemning them. All that is accomplished by these actions is displaying to everyone your lack of class and your level of immaturity.

And as Primalman said, untwist your panties. 😎

I would say, if you'll pardon my presumption, that you're the less clued one here.

FYI, I run a pair of MX2424s with Calrec, CLM and Neve mic pre's for live work, in conjunction with a Nagra IVs, with Mac/PC/native software (as requested) as a back-up. I would NEVER use a 'puter as first/only call....do you? If the Mac worked in the past, why doesn't it now? If it didn't in the past, why were you using it in the first place? And how would a dual 2GHz G5 be less than adequate for your purposes?

Oh, and if you're running at 96K, it would be educational to let us know what A/D/A chain you're running at this s/r (and why....!), how you monitor on-site and how, in the name of Gad, you can possibly "run out of speed".

I've got a lot more questions for you, if you like. I promise to be gentle (cue: evil laugh).

Oh, but if that doesn't appeal to you you could try asking your question again, this time at the Recpit Forum (especially the Mixerman one) on Prosoundweb.com ..... I reckon you'll be lucky to escape with your arse intact. So next time, be a little nicer, ya noob.

luv and hugs,

Geetar

😉 😀

updated real soon

I just got back from the local apple reseller, all their dual 1.8's and 2.0's are out of stock, but they have tons of 1.6's. They said they have not had a shipment of 2.0's since jan. 26'th. I think apple is up to something...
