Hmmmm.....are you sure about this? Not saying you're wrong, but it seems more than a bit odd that this problem seems to be exclusive to the 23" display. You'd think that if this issue was so easily correctable that Apple would have nipped this in the bud early on...especially given all of the negative publicity surrounding it.

I've read where some have suggested this problem is limited to early versions of the 23" ACD, and that more recent versions are free of this anomaly. That would be nice if it was true as I'm considering buying one of these in the not-too-distant-future and would like to think this problem has been resolved.

This would all be nice, but I think in the real world, first Apple really has to say there is a problem. Right now, they are not admitting to any problems. So you buy it's good, it's bad, sounds like gambling with your dollars. Again I will state, I have not seen a good 23" screen form Apple in Japan. I have not seen a bad 20" or 30" in Japan. When I say bad, I am reffering to the pinkish hue. It is all up to the buyer, to buy or not to buy. Apple lost money from me, I bought the 20" but was going for the 23". However, there is a reverse angle on this. I have a retired friend who is getting into Video, he bought two G5's and two 30" displays instead of the 23". I walked into his house the other day, I was impressed. (Wish I had enough to retire like that)

Nice!!! I could get into retiring a little early with that kind of hardware to keep me entertained. ;)

One would hope if you had the cabbage for a 23" you'd also know to research to find out what the skinny on possible issues are and ways of fixing them not to mention a general understanding in most cases the monitor gets it's color feed from the computer, especially on LCDs.

Not to put you under the interrogation lamp Photorun, but again you seem to imply that the problems reported with the 23" ACD are easily correctable through basic color calibration and that the hardware has nothing to do with it. If you haven't checked out the marathon discussion thread (specifically on the problems associated with the 23" display) in Apple's support area, I suggest you pay it a visit. http://discussions.info.apple.com/webx?14@886.3tEsaAhLNWb.1@.68992154

Although recalibrating the color has helped in a couple of instances, by and large, it has proven ineffective for most of the people posting in this discussion. The consensus is that there's definitely something defective with the displays themselves! Check out this article from mid-November of last year also commenting on this very problem. http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=19727

This may or may not be limited to early versions of the 23" ACD, but even more recent models don't seem to be completely free of some of these color anomalies. Unfortunately, Apple still seems to be unwilling to officially acknowledge this problem.
