286 days since the last update is rediculous. That would make it about 375 days since an update.

Why release in September? That would be a month before the release of Leopard. I don't see a coupon to upgrade. I hope I'm wrong.

I'm hoping the new imac will release in JULY. That would bring up 3rd Quarter sales.:D

The thing I am worried about is if they update it and it is awesome looking, I wanted to wait until Leopard comes out but I may not be able to resist. :D

This is awesome looking and I wish Apple would use this for their imac.

I don't mind paying for the Leopard update. Although a free upgrade on the new iMac wouldn't hurt :)

Right now I'm just fighting the temptation to order the current iMac 24". It's a really good machine, but I know I'll regret it if a new version comes out in a month.
Then again, I might regret getting a Rev A iMac :) We'll see.

jfc, some of you guys are ridiculous.

Personally I am expecting a lower price in August for a 3 months old platform. Apple is still selling the current iMac at the original price, when we all know it should be 50% cheaper. That's not ridiculous it's outrageous.

Ad litteram

Lol, i just can't believe this thread is at 15 pages! my god. 15 pages of just wish lists and whining! :)

Seriously, threads should be limited to like 5 pages. After that, they are just pointless repeating or arguing in a thread about things that should be PMs, and no one reads the entire thread since it is too long.

I read all of them :D

while I'm at work... bwahahahahaha!

Price cuts mean higher margins for Apple not lower prices for us..

Then why aren't you complaining about the other "unneeded" stuff that you have to pay for? Do you use every single feature you computer has to offer? Do you use the optical audio out? If you don't, then you are paying for a feature you do not need. How about FW800? Do you use PhotoBooth? Apple Script Editor? Terminal? No? Then you are paying for features that you do not need.

Seriously: the whole argument of "I don't want to pay for features I do not need" is just downright stupid. You are already doing it, yet I don't see you complain about it. Seriously: iMac having touchscreen does NOT in any shape or form harm you. It gives you one additional means of interact with the machine, that's all. If you don't want to use it... Well, don't.

I use my computer as a media centre and DAW and I really use every piece of hardware I have paid for (including optical audio). Roughly a TS monitor would cost about 15/20% of the total price. Don't know what you do but I am positive that on my computer there is nothing so expensive I am not using. Seriously: "pay for features I do not need" is just downright stupid.

Circulus vitiosus

I can't wait for the iPhone to get released, so that something else, anything else can be. I feel like the iPhone is holding up the whole product line. Yes I know MBs had a minor speed bump and MBPs went SR, but honestly I think the iMacs should have seen the first SR updates with the portables coming in July and August. MBPs were updated late October and MBs early November while the iMacs were early September.

E3

Perhaps a likely new iMac announcement time will be around the E3 conference time of July 11 to the 13th. With Apple's new game commitments, perhaps this timing would work out and allow for some other interesting announcements as mentioned in the rumor.

That would be sweet - very un-Apple-like, but sweet! ;) As I said earlier in this thread, Jobs made some bold claims at the start of his keynote at WWDC so we'll see how serious Apple takes things and whether they'll put their money where their mouth is. Talk is cheap.

He also made claims about major desktop announcements for WWDC. Either he is going senile or just talking without thinking.

can't wait

My ibook crapped out on me 2 months ago and I've been holding off. Now i'm one of those guys who's kickin' himself for waiting. Not having the imac to play with over that time.

To wait even longer, or to just dive in.

Tempted to dive in. Some good pricing out there. Was at the local BestBuy and they had the 20" imac on for $1,525 CAD. Now the pricing looks tempting. Better then the Education discount.

The guy there did say that they aren't receiving any new stock. Clearing the old stuff out before they receive the 'new release'...as he put it. Mind you, he did mention something about a 22" screen, replacing the 20". Seems strange to me. Again, not something I will hold tight to.

One question though...why doesn't Apple.ca sell the C2D imac in the refurbished section? Are there just too many CD's still sittin' in a warehouse? Give me the C2D.

Aren't receiving any new stock like in "We aren't ordering any more" or "We can't order any more?".
If they aren't able to order any more, then that would mean that it's coming sooner rather than later.
That's awesome news.

Using a 22" display instead of 20" would make sense to me if they will keep the 17". But only having 22", 24" and perhaps 30" would seem rather bold.

Perhaps they will make the iMac a "one more thing" for the iPhone press conference? ;)

Are they having some kind of release party for the iPhone btw?

I asked the guy when the new 'stuff' was coming in, and he replied that they aren't shipping anything until the old stock is gone. This place was already selling the display models...they didn't have any 'boxed' ones left.

Looks like Apple has stopped the shipping of the current imacs in preparation for the release of the new ones.

Hmm...seems to me they'd have to be releasing the new ones VERY soon to be doing that already, wouldn't they? Like in the next week or two?

That was a rather self-defeating post, then wasn't it ;)

No, there has been no event announced, AFAIK. We all know the time and date for the release, it's just the contracts we need to find out about, and that doesn't need an event.

Not more than a week ago the word on the forum sites was that supply was good. I hope it's not just wishful thinking that the update is around the corner.

Yeah, I was honestly a little disappointed with how he spent the majority of the keynote showing us the exact same Leopard features he already showed us a year ago with nothing much else new, nor no truly "Top Secret" features as promised.

But the Apple store and places like Amazon are still selling
