I doubt we will see the addition of any "high-endish™" features that could raise the current pricing model. (LED backlit, latest chip, High-end graphic card, etc…) I would love to be proven wrong.

how many stabs in the dark do these rumor sites get before nobody trusts them? if i predict the same thing each quarter or month for a year, do i get recognition when it finally hits? these sites have all but lost their credibility imo

That is earlier than I expected. I figured they would wait until after the "mac to School" iPod offer expired on 16 Sep 07. I do expect the perfect companion printer promo will be expired by the time these are available (23 Jul 07).

Touch screen would be very cool... but I'd also like to see One PCI-E slot or at least a ExpressCard Slot.

so, it will be almost a year from the last update of any kind? what is :apple: doing to their core customers? what is the use of all these new customers if the base is sneering at them? what about the 12" books and the mac mini?good point.

Awww, the mini and 12" book are the only two sizes I wanted to buy... Apple where's the love people for on the go?

the article does say that there might also be some smaller surprises at that time. By smaller they might mean less big such as a new mini or mini replacement.

Remember there were rumors of Apple having some affordable 17" displays. I really think they need a low cost, entry level mac, so...

1) The 17" becomes the new eMac?
2) The Mac mini isn't dead: it might get a redesign and an optional 17" display?

I hope this is right. I have been waiting to switch for 6 weeks now, waiting for these updates. I am ready to take the plunge now. Hoiping for July.

Intel Processor Prices Drop Dramatically End Of July

I think all the next models are tied into the Intel processor price plunges scheduled for the end of July.

Rumor of the day = traffic = Google money.;)

Great news! I am seriously thinking about replacing my 17" 1.25 GHz G4 iMac in the near future and I will definitely hold off for a redesign. I will also be waiting until Leopard is shipping with the new iMac, so I won't be buying until October at the earliest, but it's still great to know that new ones will probably be out by this time. Yeah, I know we've heard similar rumors before, but reinforcement is never a bad thing! :D ;)

I hope if they do discontinue the 17 that they will have something in mind to replace that price point. if the cheapest all-in-one they offer is a > $1,200 20" iMac, they may be pricing themselves right out of the school systems.
I remember being able to fill a whole computer lab for $15,000 when they had the 8 for $5,000 eMac deals, now the same lab costs nearly $25,000 with 17" iMacs, and would be well over $30,000 if they only offer a 20" iMac.
Don't even get me started on the mini being a viable option.

This is a total yawner. It's not news till it actually comes out. Till then it's just all of us rehashing what was maybe expected this week or last week or three weeks ago. Rumor motto is new ________ tomorrow until it actually happens.

also they should ditch the speakers

I would be disappointed if they dropped the built in speakers. One of the main attraction to the iMac for me was the very small footprint and the absence of wire clutter. I would hate having to make some room on my desk for speakers and have more wires snaking here and there. When I need better quality sound, I stream iTunes to the amp in the leaving room.

Shenanagens!

Oh brother. Didn't they also say new imacs within 2 weeks after WWDC??? Geesh, rumors sites are nothing more than news sites nowadays with a couple of generalized rumors thrown in.

Ok, here:
I predict within the next 12 months apple will release new iMacs! Bet you $10000 I am right!

Does anyone know what chip is on the current model? How about the core duos? ( first gen intels )

The current model has 1st generation Core 2 Duos. The new MacBook Pros have 2nd generation Core 2 Duos (slightly faster). The next iMacs will come with the same Core 2 Duos (2nd gen) that are in the MacBook Pro.
