Regarding the call in the Bears/Falcons game, I was watching the NFL network and I guess every week they have a segment where the Head of Officals comes on and they go over the top 3 or 4 controversial calls of the week. The looked at the turnover in the Bears/Falcons game and the refs made the right call. Looking at the replay the ball clearly came out of the WR's control when he got hit and probably bounced off his cup or thigh pad once the WR hit the ground. Looking at it in real time it looks like the ball popped out when he hit the ground, but looking at it in slo-mo you can clearly see the ball is out of the WR's control as he's falling.

If I hear one more person say "What Atlanta really needs is a big time WR" I'm gonna scream. What Atlanta really needs is a QB that is an effective passer (which I think Vick can be if he wanted to be). What big time WR is gonna want to go to ATL knowing that he'll spend more time blocking for Vick than catching passes?

I don't think most people in the NFL wear cups or probably not wideouts, you can't run well with a cup in

he he...then that's it...i do know some show must have had a good camera angle showing the ball side of the play vs. what i saw was the receiver's body blocking the view of the ball some of the time

the real time does look like he caught it got hit and had no run after the catch but got the ball down as a reception right near the point of contact, but if the receiver lost control then it's anybody's ball and the bears got it so i guess it was fair then

i wish there was this technology where there could be numerous cameras around the stadium and the camera can do a pan around every player on every play in slow motion like you see in some action movies...and have instant replay always win out over a bad call, no matter what

Terrible, terrible news - and right before Christmas nonetheless. Horrible, I can't imagine what he is going through.

Kind of puts everything in perspective too, doesn't it - maybe not having a perfect season isn't that big of a deal after all - it's just a game...

I feel sorry for him and his family, what a tragic loss... :(

THE NINERS WON, THE NINERS WON *does a dance*

Seattle is leading as i suspected, and will more than likely follow through with a game win. I predict a win with a 10+ point spread, no way Indy can hold back Seattle :D

What in the heck are the Niners doing winning at this late stage?!!! We probably just blew any chance of getting Reggie Bush! Damn Rams always messing things up! :( ;)

Who are your superbowl picks?

now that we have one more week to go in the regular season, who do you think will win the superbowl next month?

even though the colts have now shown some weakness late in the regular season, i still think it is their season to lose and i predict they will beat whatever team goes against them by 3 touchdowns...i guess it's not a stretch because something tells me that, if the colts go to the superbowl, i don't expect a low scoring game where the colts win by one point

if colts go against seahawks, then i say 42-21 or even 49-28 with big offensive yardage for both teams (especially colts) with the seahawks possibly having the best day on the ground but not much in the air

colts vs. giants, 42-14 who will score less than if the seahawks go to superbowl

colts vs. bears, 35-10, who will put some good defense on manning early but not late in the game, and preventing the colts from getting 6 or 7 touchdowns, but will be unable to put many points on the board against indy...halftime score may be as low as 14-3 in favor of the colts but second half will be a blowout where manning and company will be shooting for the record books

i hope that the nfc team goes who against them holds their own, but i doubt it this year...it won't be like the previous years where the patriots barely edge out an opponent

manning, if perfectly healthy on superbowl day, may also break some superbowl records

that's my guess...it will be fun to see how the next month+ pans out

All of these predictions center around the Colts being in the SuperBowl. My prediction is that they will not be there, and will get knocked out in the Conference Final. Beyond that, I don't know who will be the final 2, but I'm betting the Colts will not be one of them. I guess we will see in a month whether I am right or wrong.

Earlier in the year I was thinking that the Colts would easily make the Superbowl but after the past few weeks I just don't see them making it. As for the NFC, I thought the Bears or Giants had a good shot at making it, but after seeing the Seahawks play today I don't know if anyone can go there and beat them.

Yeah, the colts are looking worse and worse each week. Remember, even tho Manning got pulled after the first quarter, they were down 14-3 when he was pulled. They had basically lost the game at that point anyways.

On the other hand, the Patriots have been dominating the last couple weeks on defense. The fact is, they know how to win and have proven themselves over the years. I'm not saying another superbowl win, but I expect the pats to meet indy and give them a real run for their money. If the pats can get into the game sans injury, look for an Indy loss.

I also hate to say it, but the tragic events of this week are going to hurt their coaching. That's just not something you can come back from in any short amount of time.

While I would agree that they're not looking as good as they did a few weeks back, I don't think you can ever count Manning and that offense out, especially after just one quarter of play.

since the colts had the division and home field advantage, it doesn't make sense to play manning four quarters and risk injury right now...other first string players did not see a lot of playing time in the last two weeks

because of their two losses this week and last, it may make some speculate that the colts are on their way down, but they are still intact and healthy and waiting for the playoffs and holding the first line back...when using all their first string players, they are 13-0

it would be hard for an nfc team, in a field of fumbling teams with no clear leader, to rally in the postseason and be ready to take on a healthy colts in the superbowl...the seahawks may look at their best now and they may be peaking, but only time will tell

i will be rooting for the nfc underdog in the coming superbowl but the colts look like the 72 dolphins, 85 bears, or 89 niners, or 93 cowboys and it would take a great game to beat manning and the colt's incredible offense scoring machine

much has been written about how the colts were the next big thing and manning was the next great quarterback and indy is finally showing the rest of the nation what their fans have known for a long time

come on shard, and others, this is for fun anyway so make a stab at it ;)

who will be there at the superbowl, and if not the colts for the afc, then who?

Alright, since it's for fun and all... ;)

I'll pick Denver versus the Seahawks in the SuperBowl. There, that wasn't too bad... :D

that would be very fun...i think that matchup could produce a very close game and since i don't see a clear underdog, i will pick denver because...hmm...because my favorite jerry rice (former niner and raider) was a bronco for part of this season, or preseason...i looked for his denver jersey today at the mall but anything with rice on it gets sold...even his college jersey

but i did see a #19 jerry rice broncos jersey online

i think they will make it all the way to the nfc champioship game, then barely lose to the seahawks...i don't think the bears should have any problem with their first playoff game though in the division game

if they go all the way to the nfc final game and meet up with my other choice, the giants, or someone else besides the seahawks, then they will beat them by a small score and go to the superbowl...if that's how the scheduling all pans out and there are no major injuries in the teams mentioned above...that's a lot of "ifs" but it's fun to guess

five years ago, who would have guessed the patriots would have three rings?

one thing i don't suspect is that the new england patriots are going to get a fourth ring in this superbowl...if they did, then comparisions to the 90s cowboys, 80s niners, or 70s steelers is in order, i hate to admit ;)

nobody today can compare to the record/dominance of the browns in the 50s...not in this day and age where stars change teams like we change shoes

Jef -

I have a dream ... Bears over Pats 46-10 ... how the bears score 46 ... no idea but man it would be fun. I really want to see a playoff win or two, with rex heading the offense it seems like this might be a half decent team. Can they beat an AFC team, probably not, but we're the pats supposed to beat the rams in '01. (They were HUGE underdogs to the greatest show on turf).

so basically as a bears fan you can count on a good team every 20 years ... with stunning defense
