SWEET :D

That was a terrible defensive play by Carolina though. What the hell was he thinking doing a cross ice pass coming out of his zone with two edmonton fore-checkers?!

Crrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrap.

Horrible pass from Stillman to Staal and we give up a stupid goal and the game. This is why I hate overtime... stupid stuff like that just erases everything that came before. I'd rather be down a goal in regulation and lose that way than lose in OT.

'Canes still need to win one game... and they've shown they can win in Edmonton, but they're gonna have to bust their butts to make it happen. I do NOT want to see this series go to a Game 7, even though it would be in Raleigh.

I just got back from watching this game. It was the fastest paced, and best played (most of the time) I've seen in the past 5 years. And while you're right that was slow and lazy pass, I have to say that's the point of "sudden death." Yeah I was routing for Edminton, but only b/c I've been a fan of Craig McTavish since forever. Karen is a Carolina fan is she is saying, "don't worry, I'll get back at him." I assume this is directed to you.

Anywho, I thought it was an outstanding game (a bit weak officiating in period 1 but otherwise a sweet contest between outstanding compeitors.

Boggle.

Well, I'm a firm believer that Staal's second goal should have been a dead play. For godsakes they've been blowing the whistle on pucks far away from the goalies this whole series. I don't like Staal at all though, so it might be my bias. I think he's a young punk hot-shot. I was so excited to see ex-Sabre Mike Peca deck his ass before that OT goal, hahahaha. I used to play hockey so I know plenty of his type, amazing players but their attitude will get the best of them, and that's sad. I've just got my fingers crossed that Cam Ward can get out of that town in the next couple years, he's such an amazing young kid.

What a shame, Go Oilers.
Looks like the Carolina Whalers are in a bit of trouble.

What I wrote in a local newsreporter's blog just a short while ago:

What I'm sick of is the obvious BIAS of ALL of the NBC broadcasters towards Edmonton. We get to watch the national anthems sung in Edmonton, but not in Raleigh; Pierre McGuire leads off a report from the RBC Center (which is in Raleigh, Pierre) with "Here in Canada..."; when an Edmonton player slams a Carolina player into the boards headfirst, they call it a good hit, but when a Carolina player does the same to an Edmonton player, they say the Carolina player "got away with a bad hit"... assuming, of course, that the officials don't call a penalty on the Carolina player for some idiot reason.

If I wanted to watch a pro-Canadian hockey broadcast, I'd tune in to CBC, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. NBC is an AMERICAN network and in the future, they need to have some American guys in the booth and reporting from the benches... because after this post-season, I'm not watching any more hockey on NBC.

(And right now, I ain't exactly thrilled with the quality of the officiating in this game. The Oilers are getting away with MURDER out on the ice. I'm surprised the officials don't let them sharpen their sticks so they can impale a 'Cane or two before the game's over.)
I'm disappointed with the way the 'Canes are playing, but I can't help but think that the Oilers are getting away with a LOT of stuff. And I'm REALLY ticked off with NBC. After Monday night, I'm never watching another hockey game on NBC again.

I fail to see how what I wrote is "taking it out" on anyone except the dullards at NBC.

Yes, the 'Canes played badly tonight. But it doesn't change the fact that the NBC coverage has been heavily biased against them since Game 3.

Carolina better get their butts in gear by Monday night. Losing this series after being up 3-1 would rank up there with the all-time bonehead plays (#1, of course, being the Yankees letting the Red Sox come back from being down 3-0 a couple of years ago to win the ALCS 4 games to 3).

Color me unhappy right now.

That was a pretty awesomely played game by the oilers.

And yes, that puck was over the line...but still a sick nasty save by cam ward, even after being crossed twice....damn.

Well this is it.

The Oilers have all the momentum but I'm sure Carolina will have pulled themselves together by now. I think they will be huge offensively. I have no idea how it will turn out though, it could go either way. I'm hella excited though.

I would ask if anybody's going but I'm sure no ones still at home.

No words to describe what I'm feeling.

The 'Canes certainly earned it, that's for sure. For the Oilers to force a 7th game was phenomenal, it's just a shame that they seemed to fall apart here in game 7.

If Cam Ward doesn't get the Conn Smyth, it's a travesty.

congrats clayj

Good game, but why the hell did NBC cut out so early   :mad:The producers were like thank god this hockey stuff is over now to tennis

Well as disappointed as I am, the Canes sure deserved it. I'm just devastated that the hockey season is over though, what am I gonna do all summer?!?!

Well, now I can look forward to the draft and the player awards. Yea that's right, I'm going to the draft and player awards. Jea Jea!

That's what I was thinking haha...

On to the draft. A guy from my school was drafted to the Sharks, 4th round 126th overall in 2004.

That would be so awesome. Especially if it happens while you're in school, to have a good friend or someone you know drafted, or to be drafted yourself.

On Coaches Corner tonight Don Cherry said, don't go to the draft unless you're one of the top prospects. He said every year he goes and sees these poor kids who leave in tears because they didn't get drafted. That would just be so depressing ugch. I'm happy there's no chance of me being drafted :D , well not really actually :(.

Just got back from some celebratory post-game drinking. ;)

Thank God the 'Canes were able to get their act together in time for Game 7... they did exactly what they needed to in order to secure the Stanley Cup. Words can't express how happy (and relieved) I am right now. :)

BTW, congrats to the Oilers for an excellent series and for setting their own mark (first #8 seed to make the Stanley Cup finals). But even bigger congrats to the 'Canes (and Conn Smythe winner Cam Ward... a beast in goal!) for bringing the first major league sports title to the Carolinas!
