I've been cheering for the Canes for the whole playoffs, but now that it's between them and Edmonton...GO OIL!!!!

well i had a feeling the canes would win 2night. I'm definitely rooting for the canes sry canada...

Well, I missed the game and I'm sad. But hell, the Sabres are definitely the best team in hockey. What other team would ever be able to take it to seven down FIVE KEY PLAYERS?? And what's with the Canes bashing Lindy Ruff? Are they kidding???

Ugh...the injuries were just too much for the Sabres to overcome. I thought they might find a way to pull it out after two periods, but it wasn't to be. The 'Canes are a very solid team playing with a lot of heart and confidence right now. Should be a fantastic final.

The mandatory minor penalty for unintentionally clearing the puck over the glass? That's just a dumb rule.

Yep, I really was hoping Sabres would have made it into the finals. I feel especially sad because this could have very well been the last chance for Numminen to try get the ring :/ He must have played close to 20 years already, and this was the first year his team won a playoff series!

What a great player, what a great shame first places have avoided him. (btw. he's born in Tampere, Finland. Guess why I wanted to write about him...)

Objectively, yes, but in my eyes 'Canes are unworthy because of what happened to Saku Koivu. I really hope that Oilers win the finals.

Wow...what a game. Oilers looked to be in complete control until the third period. It'll be interesting to see the prognosis on Roloson...the Oilers could be finished if he's out for extended time.

Unbelievable saves from Ward...

Just saw that...wow. Guess it was a "series" injury. :p :D

Yeah, but Ty's a pro. The Oil still have it in them. Ward was a back-up until mid way through the first round. Anyways, 'legends are made in the playoffs'.

Great Game tonight. Ward was sensational, but if Roloson cant return for Edmonton they r skrewed. I think Jason Smith needs to step up and take the balme of the backup goalie for the tieb reaking goal tonight. That is what a true captain would do. Brind-Amour came up in the clutch with the 2 goals tonight. Is it just me or does he seem to win every single faceoff. lol. go canes!!!

Oh my god that was an unbelievable game.

Ales Hemsky - Beautiful goal, he just has the smoothest hands and I love seeing him rush like that. I was nervous he might be injured though after he went flying into the post.

Rod Brind'Amour - I can't believe how many garbage goals this guy gets...

Marc-Andre Bergeron - Dumb play, he should know not to take his man out that close to the net, when clearly all of his momentum was headed straight for Roloson

Dwayne Roloson - :( It's sad but it happens

Ty Conklin - No playoff experience, hasn't played a game in how long? There was a great deal of pressure on him and it's just sad that it had to happen the way it did.

And finally...

Cam Ward - This guy is brilliant, amazing, just wow. The last 20 seconds was craaazy, the Oilers had so many chances I was sure they were gonna put one in, but Ward just kept robbing them. The final save was extraordinary. I swear that guy has 3 arms.

Just got back from Game 1.

What an amazing game... the 'Canes sucked during most of the first two periods, and the refs (including that brain-damaged freak McGeough) seemed to have it in for the 'Canes the whole game. Finally we started to get some momentum going, and everything turned around. I especially loved Conklin's doofus mistake that let Rod get our 5th goal with less than a minute left.

Too bad about Roloson... but it wasn't our fault. Ladd got pushed into him at full speed... for a while, I was thinking that his nuts got pressed up into his chest cavity, the way he went down (legs spread, into the goal post).

Here's to 3 more 'Canes wins!

Pretty obvious the 'Canes are gonna win Game 2... it's 5-0 right now with about half the 3rd period left to play.

The Oilers are in TROUBLE... it's not that their goalie hasn't played well (even though he's allowed 5 goals so far), but the 'Canes have really stepped up their play AND the Oilers players are just not executing... the spate of penalties they racked up in the 3rd period was pretty sad.

On to Edmonton!

I don't EVER want to see a team that Gretzky played for win the cup again. HISS! HISS!

Huh? Where did that come from?

Anyways, "Whatever It Takes" is the 'Canes slogan, eh? I guess that includes paying off the refs to call all those silly penalties against the Oilers so that they could pepper the new goalie with shots... ;)

Laviolette is nothing but a worthless prick. I can't wait though. Surely he'll start aggrivating his GM and he'll be booted in a couple of years. Some would say he makes key coaching decisions, but he has absolutely no confidence in his players. He pisses me off more than any other sports coach. He pretends that he isn't pompous then stands there with a smirk on his face the entire game. Oh, and for his "What ever it takes" theory, that just shows his lack of expertise and immaturity.

Hopefully, he'll get canned soon.

Also, when are the teams in the NHL going to realize that you cannot allow Carolina to get on the powerplay? It's what ruined Buffalo too. It's sad to see such good teams falling to something that's so obvious. Hopefully we'll see some good play from Edmonton though, most of the Carolina team does not deserve to be within ten feet of the cup.

Actually, Lavi's contract is up at the end of this season... and it's not a foregone conclusion that he'll be back with the 'Canes even if they win the Stanley Cup. He's expressed interest in going to coach the Bruins (he's from the Boston area), and I think they want him.

So it's gonna be interesting to see if the 'Canes can make him an offer good enough for him to stick around. Personally, I'd love to see him back, and I hope he believes that the 'Canes will be Stanley Cup material again next season.

My absolute disdain for Gretzky. He played with the Oilers. Therefore I want to see them lose. I also never want to see LA win another, and the Cyotes ever. IMHO, I think he was extremely lucky and not all that great considering he played the game with the calibur players do today, but with goalies not as talented or mobile.

Anyway, Canes for the win. I wanted Buffalo, but I'll take any eastern conference team over the Oilers.

Are you serious? Have you ever actually seen him in person play hockey? Or even just some highlight videos. Watch this DVD and then tell me how bad he is.
