What kind of speed up is anticipated with new chips?
I'm curious how the new quad 3.0 ghz chips will compare with the current generation ones. Will this be an increase in speed on the order of 10% or more? And won't much of the speed up depend on using faster memory which will be very expensive, at least initially?
For pros doing rendering and video the extra cores and speed under Leopard may prove cost-effective, but I wonder if the speedup will be noticeable for photographers using Photoshop CS3, Lightroom, and Aperture? I wonder how much prep Adobe has done for multicore support in Leopard? I know Adobe has warned about possible issues with Leopard compatibility.
Any thoughts on the matter?
