Well, I'm going to be a bandwagon fan here! Way to go Giants!!! But come next season, I'll be back to cheering for the other Manning!!! :D

Hey MacNut, I got a good signature for ya! ;)

"We're only going to score 17 points?" - Tom Brady

here's the ironic thing for cocky pats fans (not all pats fans): many of them were saying that the giants were too cocky and arrogant, etc, and that the pats were just doing business by the books and were going to win big. i bet the pats were too smug just going by business sure that it was going to be a blowout and it bit them big time.

time to listen to wfan streaming and listen to the 'arrogant giants fans'.

Giants WIN!! 18-1!!

This makes up for the Redsox in recent years! Oh, how satisfying this is! Can't wait for the parade on Tuesday!

Wooohoooooooo!

Down to the wire! That's all you can ask for in a Superbowl if your team isn't playing (and New Orleans definitely isn't this year). Fricking great entertainment there.

Gah. <sob>

Gotta hand it to the Giants' D. Those dudes played like men possessed. They truly were the saving grace of the team.

On the Pats' side, the coaching was the weakest link. Going for it on 4th and 12? Punt it and try to coffin corner them, or try for the 3 points. The outcome of this game might have been different.

So now, since the Superbowl losers typically have tough times ahead of them, with this apply to the Pats too?

Anyone else think the Giants defense got robbed on the MVP trophy? I know it's hard to single out a single defensive player for an MVP but the defense really were the MVPs of the game.

Yes. Robbed is the right word. Without the D holding the league's leading offense to 14 points, there's no way the Giants would have won!

They could have given the MVP to the Pats offensive line, who couldn't have blocked a 3 year old last night.

No doubt..Spectacular display of matador blocking...

The last few times a defensive player won SB MVP,the games weren't close. Maybe that has something to do with it??Between Manning getting away on that third and five and leading the game winning drive,I would have been surprised if he didn't get it..

Agreed. The defense and pressure on Brady all game long is what won the game for the Giants.

Tyree (I think that was his name) should have got it. He made a couple of amazing catches. Manning got lucky more than anything else when he got away from that sack. Thomas(?) couldn't hold on.

It's easier to single out a star player on offense, a receiver, QB, or RB with X yards and Y TDs. But last night was a massive defensive battle (evidenced by the score) and the Giants D won the game... sure the offense put up points when it mattered but the defense really won it. They stopped the Pats when it mattered and kept them from the field goal that could have tied the game. (Although it would have been fun to see the Super Bowl decided by a coin toss).

Yeah, what a decision that was to gamble on 4th and long as opposed to attempting the long field goal. I'm surprised the Patriots didn't at least try to pin the Giants deep with a punt on that one...

I was actually referring to the stop they made when the Pats got the ball with 39 seconds left and 3 time outs....

Given their big receivers and Brady seeming to be able to will TDs in the regular season to get them to go 0 for 4 on passes in that series was the clincher.

Agreed.

Poor coaching choice, IMO. So Belichick IS fallible!

i think its a combination of the previous performance of their punter, as well as BB's over-confidence of Pats' offense.

He still had plenty of chances to make the big play, did the Giants show a kink in his armer.

Geeze, you just won't give it a rest, will you?

Just because he couldn't magically shield himself from an onslaught of blue jerseys in order to get off enough plays to win the game doesn't detract AT ALL from all the amazing things he's done this season and before this season.

He's an awesome QB, and you'd be thrilled to have him as your QB on whatever team it is that you root for.

You're just troll now, so please stop.

Dude, the guys on ESPN are saying this. The Giants found a way to rush Brady and get him out of his game. He hardly threw to Moss. And when he did a lot of the passes were not catchable.

Had Brady one this game he would be the greatest QB ever. Can he still be known as that.

The question is, Is Brady still ranked with the best ever Bradshaw and Montana. Or does this game hurt him a bit.

Gah. Are you purposefully being narrow minded, or are you just trolling? I can't tell.

Maybe Brady was hurt. Maybe his ankle was bothering him and he was unable to plant his foot and make decent throws. Maybe it's hard to get in a rhythm and start throwing passes when your line is collapsing on you and you're taking hits on a 3 step drop. Maybe it's hard to keep the D honest when your running game isn't functioning?

So Terry Bradshaw and Joe Montana never had a rough game?

Brady still managed to throw more passes in a single season than any other QB in history. No small feat, that.

Brady is also only 30 years old. I think there's plenty of time before you can start writing him off.

People seem to think Peyton Manning is one of the best QBs in history. Hell, he's only won 1 SB. Does that make him any less great?

Maybe it was his ankle, but I do think the Giants showed an example of how to stop Brady. In all the regular season teams have tried to get to him but they never succeeded. I wonder if more teams will try the Giants model at attacking Brady. And will the Pats be able to get him better protection. They will need to get younger if they will be able to protect him.
