yeah, but you don't make the team think that. they once had a "super-bowl caliber" team 3 or 4 years ago......

like Hall said....this new coach is sitting there watching this ship sink

Yeah,I'm well aware of that fact..The Panthers and Eagles were too.. ;)

Not many coaches out there could save the Falcons this year..What I'm getting tired of is the growing list of NCAA coaches who think success at the collegiate level equals success at the pro level..Petrino has four good years at Louisville and that makes him qualified to be an NFL head coach?

i agree. i didn't like the move for this coach, and clearly neither do the players. yeah, he coached okay at Louisville, but i mean, only 4 years. and it's Louisville.

I heard on the radio this morning that Manning and Brady are the (first two? only two?) QBs to have beaten every other team in the league (other than their own team, obviously) except one. And if those two QBs beat their opponents this weekend, who happen to be the only team they have never beaten, they will have beaten all 31 teams... strange.

looks like they are getting ready for 2008-2009 season

They will be hard pressed to compete with Miami and the Rams for top pick.

So, since the Pats lost their first rounder, does that mean that they will just move the 1st team with the first pick in the second round up to the bottom of the 1st round?

I'm sure the Dolphins will be eyeing Ryan from BC..

The Pats still have their first rounder from the 49ers..From what I've read, they're just going skip over the pick the Pats lost..Everybody's draft day position stays the same..

I just read in the paper that the pats haven't beat the Redskins in 32 years!

Thomas waived
By Mike Reiss, Globe Staff

The Patriots waived DL Santonio Thomas today, opening a spot on their 53-man roster. The 6-foot-4, 305-pound Thomas, who has played in four games this season, would likely return on the team's practice squad if he is not claimed by another club by 4 p.m. Friday.

Thomas was credited by the team's coaches with five tackles this season. The Patriots still have six defensive linemen on the roster -- Vince Wilfork, Ty Warren, Jarvis Green, Mike Wright, Le Kevin Smith and Kareem Brown.

As for how the Patriots fill the open roster spot, it could come from one of the three players who opened the year on the physically unable to perform list and have started practicing -- WR Chad Jackson, CB Eddie Jackson and DL Richard Seymour.

While it might seem as if this move clears the way for Seymour, it wouldn't be surprising if the Patriots had special teams help on the mind instead, which could lead to Eddie Jackson's activation. The Patriots have had their depth on special teams tested with ILB Eric Alexander (knee) and S Mel Mitchell (groin) missing last week's game and being held out of practices this week. Also, depth in the secondary could be thinned with S Eugene Wilson (ankle) missing the last two practices.

------

Perfect..An open roster spot..Welcome back Mr. Seymour....

Any given Sunday, baby, any given Sunday.

On January 17, 1999 The Atlanta Falcons came into the NFC Championship game as 11 point underdogs, but managed to win an extremely competitive game late in overtime, making Minnesota the first 15-1 team ever to fail to reach the Super Bowl. The Vikings had set an NFL record with 556 points and won their nine previous home games by an average of 23 points, but they could not win this game despite maintaining a lead for nearly all of the time in regulation.

Who would have thought that App State would beat Michigan? Or Stanford could beat USC? Or the Falcons could beat the 1998 Vikings, or the Pats could be the 2001 Rams.

That's why we play the game..

Or that in 2003 the 'Skins (5-11) under Steve Spurrier would beat the Pats (14-2, Super Bowl ring).

Unlikely? Yes. Impossible? No. :)

Its kinda cool to watch a game being played in London. They seem more into it then I would of thought.

Well, one wonders why the NFL sent the Dolphins overseas if they wanted to drum up interest in American football.

Unless they were going for that basketball model...

Harlem Globetrotters (any team) versus the Washington Generals (Dolphins).

And also why is this not a national televised game. It is only getting regional coverage. I thought they wanted this to be a marque game.
