All I'm saying is that when you have little to no pressure in the pocket, except a little bit in the Indy game, and some of the best receivers in the league on your team its really easy to look good.

I'm not a Patriots fan. I'm a Niners fan (for my sins) - and I tend to think that the Patriots can be some of the jammiest luckiest sons of guns at times in terms of calls (starting with the tuck rule and keeping on going) but hey, good teams make their own luck and the Patriots are a great team currently.

Brady has lots of time in the pocket and yes, that does make it look easier but that's what a good offensive line is supposed to do. Replace a few of those linemen and that protection might break down a little and make him look a little more rushed - although he has such a quick release, that it might mean more short gains rather than longer ones.

No-one was disagreeing that they have lots of good receivers this year but they're also clever in how they spread the ball around so that defenses don't know who might get it - they have what, 18 guys who have got a TD this year? There are entire teams who don't have 18 TDs between them!

They've got there by being smart in the draft and not overpaying for free agents. They let guys go rather than overpay and bring in young guys to train up to take their place. Pioli deserves every award going for his skill in doing that.

The first couple of years I thought Brady wasn't the real deal (I'd still argue that Joe Montana could also stand in there with 2 minutes to go in the Super Bowl and drive a team down the field to win :p) but he's proved it consistently for 5 years now. He's a special QB. He's got it all aside perhaps from great running ability (although on the few occasions where he takes off perhaps the shock is what makes it effective). He can throw deep, he can make quick decisions and has a fast release, he'll sit and wait in the pocket with defenders in his face and he's accurate. And in past year, he really didn't have a great receiving corps...

In terms of videogate... since the evidence is destroyed, I guess we'll never know the full extent of it. To me, I'd rather have seen the dirty laundry aired rather than end up with the current scenario. The Patriots fans take it too lightly and the non-Patriots say it tarnishes everything they've achieved. I'm sitting on the fence here in terms of past seasons and how it impacted those SuperBowls potentially. In terms of this season and how well that team is playing, I don't think it would have made a blind bit of difference and if the team goes unbeaten, it will be be the result of great team play. (If the unbeaten season had come previously with potential video being used throughout the season, then I'd be more inclined to mentally asterisk it).

I didn't know I would have 1000 pissed New England fans after me. All I'm saying is that when you have little to no pressure in the pocket, except a little bit in the Indy game, and some of the best receivers in the league on your team its really easy to look good. I'm not commenting about earlier years, just this year because things do change from year to year, after all Daunte Cullpepper was "supposed" to be really really good and look at where he is now. And about who is a good receiver besides Moss on the Patriots....well where do I begin Welker, Stallworth, and Watson. And if the Pats ever wanted to start a run game, their RB is Maroney who is ridiculous and should get the ball more. So it is kind of easy to say the Patriots are stacked. I wish some non-Patriot or unbiased fans would comment on this...if there are any.

but clearly you are biased. there is no such thing as an unbiased opinion, or not in my mind. the point is that yeah, Brady looks good throwing the ball. a lot of the time he throws it right when it looks like he's gonna get sacked, but doesn't. he stands in the pocket and throws, when others would try to run away from the pressure. so it may look like there is no pressure.

Moss is great, and the others aren't bad. but look at what Brady has done every year, with or without the great receivers

Shula's backpedaling and moonwalking this morning:
Shula told ESPN's "Mike and Mike in the Morning" on Thursday that if the Patriots finish with a perfect record to match that of his 1972 Dolphins, then there "shouldn't be any attachment to it," referring to a possible asterisk next to New England's name in the record books.

I think from now on,the ole boy needs to think BEFORE,not after,he opens his mouth...

Pats activate the Jacksons
November 7, 2007
Action Jacksons
By Mike Reiss, Globe Staff

The Patriots made it official today, activating receiver Chad Jackson and cornerback Eddie Jackson off the physically unable to perform list.

The team released safety Ray Ventrone to make room on the roster.

The Patriots are now full on their 53-man roster. Ventrone has practice squad eligibility and could return to the practice squad if he clears waivers.

Today was the final day of the 21-day window the Patriots had to make a decision on both Chad Jackson and Eddie Jackson. Both players opened the year on the PUP list, recovering from knee injuries.

Moss
Stallworth
Welker
Watson
Jackson

Speed kills

They still have to make a decision on Troy Brown within the next couple of weeks.

Personally I think they should cut Kelley Washington if Troy is health. He doesn't play at all on offense and just plays like special teams. With both Jacksons returning, they could probably take Washington's place on special teams. Chad Jackson played it last year.

Oh, and one more thing about the Tom Brady "overrated" and only being so good because of having good receivers. What did Moss, Stallworth, and Welker do last year?

Hard to believe the Pats are 9-0 and we've done it w/o Troy Brown. I have the feeling he's going to get IR'd..I'd like to see him back now,esp to get ready for the playoffs.Provided he's healthy of course..IF not,I see him as the Pats next WR coach...

The Brady being "overrated" argument? Please  If Brady was on the team they root for,I'm guessing the feeling would be different..Jealousy abounds this year in regard to the Pats...

Does anyone else think Derek Anderson is the next big quarterback in the NFL?

I think it's possible, but it's too early to make any kind of a prediction. It WOULD be really sweet, though. I remember watching him play at Oregon State and suffering through the season when he threw 24 interceptions (his 24 touchdowns still got us into a bowl, though), only to watch him kick much ass the next couple of seasons after that.

Cleveland is definitely legit.

21-9 over Pittsburgh in the 3rd quarter right now.

Steelers are still legit.

Cleveland's offense failed to show up in the 2nd half.

How about Brett Favre passing the 60,000 yard mark for his career?

Happy that your-ami remains 0-9. Sadly, the Lams win. :)

Had me worried there for a while. Oh, how I miss the days of the epic Bills-Dolphins games...now it's just said. How the Bills have managed a winning record is beyond me.

Is Kansas City really that bad? Because I KNOW the Broncos are thoroughly mediocre.....

It's because the Bills have only played like 3 quality opponents (NE, DAL, PIT: All losses).

Look at who their wins came against:

Jets
Ravens
Jets
Bengals
Dolphins

Sure...I'm just shocked that they managed to beat all five of those teams. Buffalo's just as bad as the rest of them.

Throw in the "almost-wins" against Denver and Dallas, and they're two plays away from a 7-2 start.

Just wait until they shock NE next week. :D

It was a great weekend to be a Jets fan. 1-8 and a bye week will do that to you.

The Bills beat the winless Dolphins by a field goal in the final minute. Not exactly an encouraging win considering the opponent....

Giants killed themselves with penalties today..

Let's see who Peyton throws to tonight....
