Glue-coated gloves.

You know, I still have a tough time believing:
1) Moss is a Pat
2) that he's not jabbering like the Randy of old
3) that he's willing to go over the middle and make plays

Particularly #3. He's taken some real shots so far, and yet, there he is.. slant over the middle. Willing to take the punishment, but still making the play. IMO, the Randy of old.. he'd never do that.

Same thing with T.O. and the cowboys. He's been quiet this season to say the least.

I'm loving the beatdown the Boys put on the Iggles last night, and pumped for the Giants matchup next week. Should basically put whoever wins into the playoffs (as NFC East champs).

How bout dem Cowboys! :p

That's the thing about winning and having a team that doesn't need them to win. Sure the Pats and 'Boys are better with Moss and T.O. and might have a(nother) loss or two without them, but the teams don't need them to be in the playoffs. They keep their mouths shut and play hard to have their chance at the playoffs and Superbowl ring. They know that if they act up too much they could easily end up benched or fired so they keep themselves in line.

The really sad part is that if they end up on a team that needs them again they'll go back to being as loathsome as they were on previous teams, not learning that they could actually do some good if they played hard and tried to lead their not-as-good team and possibly elevate that team instead of making themselves look more like asshats....

Of course I can lecture from the sidelines but if I'd had that kind of skill and had millions of dollars thrown at me in my early 20s I'd be an asshat too...

Thanks for the honesty. :D Just so we know where everyone stands in all this. I've never looked to sports figures as any kind of a role model. Those who do get disappointed, time after time. Entertainment it is.

There are some players who can handle the glory and money without being idgits but they are few and far between, Jerry Rice comes to mind. Receivers seem particularly vulnerable as well, probably since they rarely rely on others to block for them and don't rely on the rest of the offensive crew like the QB or RB do as long as they can get open and catch the ball.

I'd like to think I'd be someone who could be one of them but I know myself well enough to know that I'd probably be just a disliked as Moss or T.O. Of course I have almost no athletic ability whatsoever so lucky for me, I just have to be a typical middle class asshat.

well i personally look at sports figures as role models. and of course i get emotional with it as well. but i think it has helped me as an athlete myself

So Roethlislongass****ingname just threw his 5th touchdown pass with less than 2 minutes to go in the first half to go up 35-0. When Brady did this against Miami everyone bitched and said they should have just taken a knee.

I bet nobody says that about the Steelers. Gotta love double standards, eh?

All the former hosses are in town for the anniversary celebration, so I suppose everyone will forgive the rout.

that's not good. what's the word on him? (i didn't get to see the game)
Roethlisberger's okay. He returned early in the 4th after being examined. In addition to record setting throws and offense, the Steeler Curtain was like old times, and smash mouth was the order of the day. James Harrison was huge, last night.

well that's good that he's okay. i noticed that they didn't score much in the second half

Let's see what kind of impact Tank has:

Tank Johnson, the defensive tackle whose career appeared to be in jeopardy this summer after his off-field problems got him suspended by the NFL and cut by the Bears, is close to getting back on the field.

The Cowboys added Johnson to the 53-man roster today after the league took him off the suspended list, with the Cowboys' Sunday night game against the Eagles representing the final game of his eight-game suspension. Coach Wade Phillips said Johnson will play Sunday against the Giants.

"He will be part of our rotation," Phillips said. "I think he'll help us."

Johnson has been practicing with the Cowboys for two weeks, learning to play the nose in Phillips' 3-4 defense. All of his previous experience is as a 4-3 tackle.

Johnson spent two months in jail during the off-season and was suspended for eight games in June. At that time he vowed to become a model citizen, but the Bears cut him a few weeks later after he was pulled over at 3:30 a.m.

Dallas made room on its roster by placing rookie fullback Deon Anderson, who suffered a torn rotator cuff against the Eagles, on injured reserve.

I'm not sure which owner is a bigger scumbag, Al Davis or Jerry Jones.

Scumbags? I don't think Jerry Jones is a scumbag. He's no better or worse than the Redskin's owner.

I think people like Al Davis, Georgia Frontiere, Robert Irsay and Art Modell are scum. They moved teams with history and viable fanbases to new cities.

That sucks.

Tough blow for the Chiefs:

Kansas City Chiefs' Larry Johnson Out for Season
Last Edited: Tuesday, 06 Nov 2007, 4:12 PM MST

KANSAS CITY - Kansas City Chiefs running back Larry Johnson is out for the season with a broken right foot.

This was confirmed by a source within the Chiefs organization with direct knowledge of the situation.

According to the Chiefs initially, Johnson had suffered a mid-foot sprain in the fourth quarter of last Sunday's 33-22 loss to the Packers. However, it was later determined that Johnson had suffered a fracture.
