Yea well if you had the last name Manning wouldn't you take advantage of it? Eli sure did.
He's the NFL's Ralf Schumacher.
Peyton, however, is NOT the NFL's Michael Schumacher.
The Pats are beatable. I don't see them running the table anymore. What was the spread 20 points? And they won by 3.

Uh, they've still got a game against the Jets and Dolphins, the next game is Baltimore (no offense), the last game is against the Gi-aints. The only team that could possibly give them real trouble is the Steelers, and they lost their last game to the freakin' JETS.

And your point is what exactly? Who cares what the spread was,the Pats won the game.It was an ugly win,but a win nonetheless. That's what counts. There's no style points for a win...They played their worst game of the season against a team that played its best game of the season and still won. It's not encouraging, but it didn't "expose" them either. Anyone that didn't realize that our LBs are slow before now shouldn't be in the NFL in any capacity anyways.
The Pats will get abused in practice in this week. They know it.They should, they played like crap.Yet they still won..

For some reason I have a feeling Bill is going to be tougher on them than if they would have lost.

yeah they played like crap and still won. Moss had a few drops, even though they would have been outstanding catches, but that's what he does. i hope they regroup after that

BREAKING NEWS: Redskins S Taylor in Critical Condition After Shooting

umm, holy ****.

MIAMI — Washington Redskins safety Sean Taylor was in critical condition after he was shot at his Florida home Monday, police said.

Miami-Dade County police officers were dispatched to Taylor's home at about 1:45 a.m. and found him shot. He was then airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital, police Detective Alvaro Zabaleta said. He didn't know where on Taylor's body he was shot.

A brief statement from the Redskins said Taylor was undergoing treatment at the Miami hospital and that police were investigating. His family has asked that no information about his condition be released at this point, said hospital spokeswoman Lorraine Nelson.

Taylor has a home in the Miami suburb of Palmetto Bay that he bought for $900,000 two years ago.

Cowboys are going to be 10-2 after that.

Agreed. Romo looked entirely beatable tonight.

Except that's not going to happen. Pack will win next week, will end up with homefield for the playoffs, and the 'boys will be goin in to Lambeau when it's like 0º and snowing. Pack will be the NFC rep in the Superbowl.

I wouldn't be so sure. Both the Cowboys and Packers have shown the ability to play very ugly games this season, and the Pack has always had difficulty at the Cowboys' stadium. This could be the game of the season, or it could be a struggle to see who wants to lose the most.

Let's not forget that the mystique of Lambeau in the playoffs was not enough to stop Atlanta from taking us out of the playoffs a few years back. I think the year will definitely be interesting especially when the playoffs come around. The Packers' coach has no playoff experience as a head coach and most teams play harder in the playoffs. As much as I'd like to see the Pack in the Super Bowl, I'm not quite convinced that they have what it takes to get there this year (and since I'm 95% certain that Favre will retire after this year they probably won't go there for many years to come).

I wish I had tickets for this one, but at the price they're going to be fetching I probably would have sold them and given the family a nice Xmas.

According to some other reports I've read, Taylor was shot in the upper leg and it hit his femoral artery. That's not good.

WTF??Talk about pissing away money:

MANNING HAS HUGE 2008 CAP NUMBER

We posted earlier on Monday an item regarding Eli Manning's contract, which had two voidable years (2008 and 2009) and a buy-back provision. As a league source tells us, and as Mark Maske of the Washington Post reported at the time, the Giants exercised the buy-back in March 2007.

So, as a result of the buy-back and other tweaks to the rookie deal, the Giants currently are on the hook for $8.45 million in 2008 base salary and $8.5 million in 2009 base salary. Manning's cap number for 2008, we're told, is a whopping $11.4 million. (The cap number would be higher, but there was a "Deion Sanders rule" issue that required the team to take a $700,000 charge earlier in the deal.)

We're also told that Manning's bonus proration will count $3.6 million against the cap in 2008 and $3.6 million against the cap in 2009. Thus, if the Giants were to cut him or trade him before June 1 of 2008, they would carry $7.2 million in dead money in 2008, but save $8.45 million in cash and reduce his cap number by $4 million. A cut or a trade after June 1 (or a pre-June 1 cut that is designated under the CBA as a post-June 1 transaction), would save $8.45 million in cash and $7.6 million in cap space in 2008, but would cost $3.6 million against the cap in 2009.

Bottom line? Even though the Giants have already made the decision to buy back the next two years of the deal, they still face a tough question come 2008: Is Eli worth a cap number of $11.2 million and $8.45 million in salary for one year of football?

Ummm,nope....

So..

I'm not sure what that game plan was for the Pats. Why was the running game completely abandoned? Why was the entire first half all no huddle? That was such a strange game plan. I'm glad they won, but were they trying to practice or something? Constant 2 minute drills? Come from behind drills?

Anyway, the PhEagles played an excellent game. The defense was monstrous. I can't believe the amount of pressure they put on Brady, I haven't seen the Pats OLine collapsing like that in a while.. and on just about every down. And the coverage was absolutely incredible.

Having watched Feely from within the division in the past, he looked like he was having a game far above his station. Trust me, he's not that good. Or.. at least, not consistently good. I have to credit the receivers for doing a killer job finding the open spots. As always Westbrook does what he does to keep the PhEagles in the game. Without him, they are in trouble.

And I have to credit the coaching staff for doing a fantastic job on both sides of the ball. Frankly, I don't think Andy Reid is a very good coach, but he and his assistants really put up a great one last night. They did a great job preparing and it was a heartbreaking loss, but no PhEagle or fan should hang their head in shame.

So.. <snip>
I'm not really a Patriots fan, but I'd like to see them go undefeated this year for 2 reasons:

1. It would finally get the '72 Dolphins to shut the **** up. Sure, they were undefeated, but they played a cupcake schedule that year.

2. The Bears won't make it to the Super Bowl (and likely not even the playoffs) this year, so I'm not concerned with the Patriots taking it all.

They've got a great team, and one of the all-time best quarterbacks. Good luck to them.

Of course, then we'd have to deal w/all the fair weather Pats fans that won't ****... not sure which is a lesser evil. ;)

Sean Taylor update:
From what I've been able glean from some 'skins boards is that Taylor is out of surgery but still in critical condition. I read he was in a coma, but it wasn't 100% clear if it was medically induced or not.

Why isn't there a z in front of the Patriots on the NFL.com's Standings site?

Don't they have their division locked? Second place is 5-6, with 5 games left, with 11 wins they can't be toppled.

I actually don't think the Pats played that badly (I'm a huge pats fan btw). There was that horribly blown offensive PI call against Moss that took away a touchdown and several non-calls when Sheppard was hanging on to Moss' jersey, but other than that, I chalk that game up to the Eagles playing a phenomenal game.

Don't forget - they were a playoff team last year, and a lot of people picked them to win the NFC east and maybe go to the superbowl. They are talented, if under achieving. They came out with a game plan and all fired up, and they really did a great job rushing our passer, protecting their passer, and covering Moss (that last one with the aid of the refs, as noted above). If you can do those things you're going to keep a lot of games interesting.

I think the game was good for the Pats. It showed them that they are not unbeatable, and exactly where their weaknesses are. I think they'll come out even stronger next week - but I give all the credit in the world to the Eagles (who I've always actively disliked, for the record) for playing a really good game.

I heard that too. People here in DC are just stunned. What awful news. :(

Yes they do have the division locked up. They actually did as soon as Buffalo lost. NFL.com just can't believe it's over so soon. ;)

Btw - I'm picking Cowboys over Packers (even though I love Brett Farve and hate the Cowboys with a passion). Packers are too banged up after this past week's game. I think they'll have a good shot in the playoff rematch, when everyone's healthy, but it would take a herculean effort to win with that many injuries.

Redskins safety Sean Taylor remains in the intensive care unit at Miami's Jackson Memorial Hospital, about 16 hours after he was shot in his Miami home.

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reported that at two different points during the six hours of surgery Taylor had this morning, he flat lined.

Feeley seems to have his career games against the Pats. I,for one, like the no huddle offense.I'd like to see it more, but with more screens and short passes.More balance. Believe it or not,the Pats are ranked eighth in the league in rushing. They have a rushing game, but with their passing attack, the constant "The Pats can't run the ball" is getting real old. Their running game is good enough. When Brady's in the shotgun, that's the perfect scenario for Faulk, which is why Maroney wasn't in much in the first half..It was great to see LoMo power it in in the fourth quarter...
Pat's secondary is still a concern to me. Thank God for Sanders and Samuel. The others need to step it up.Bruschi looks like he's trailing on almost every play.Time's catching up to him. D line wasn't heard from much at all....
Did anybody else notice how clear and audible Brady's signal calls were last night??NBC's mic was so loud and clear it seemed as if Brady was mic'd up for the game...

Sean Taylor Update:

"He was responsive to the doctor's request to squeeze his hand and show facial expression, and so the doctors were very happy about that," Redskins vice president of football operations Vinny Cerrato said. "They told us to hope for a miracle, and I think the positive news we got was extremely good news."

Taylor lost a "significant" amount of blood because the bullet damaged his femoral artery, and doctors were worried about blood flow to the brain, according to family friend Richard Sharpstein, his former lawyer.

"The doctors are being very guarded about their prognosis," said Sharpstein, who, like Cerrato, was at the hospital with the player's family and friends. "They're being a little bit skeptical about either whether he might make it or whether it might cause some permanent brain injury."

Looking better, but still far from out of the woods.
