Could be an interesting day this Sunday..Forecast is for a snowstorm Sat nite thru Sunday afternoon..Not sure how much or how bad..Still several days away..

Actually, the last game he played in was 2003, and the last game he started was 2002.

Actually, the way I see it, there is absolutely no way the Falcons don't end up with Louisville QB Brian Brohm in the draft.

yeah, this isn't looking to good for the falcons. at this rate, it'll be the Atlanta Cardinals

I just hope it snows for the fins game. Snow games against the fins are always ****ing epic.

I only want the pats to win, so that they're 15-0 going into the Giants game, and they have a reason to try to win.

if the pats are 14-1, and the perfect season gone, then they have to reason to win... they would rest their players. As much as it doesn't matter for the redskins stand, it would be nice to see the G-Men lose.

Belichick never rests his players.Hasn't doesn't done it since he's been head coach of the Pats.No matter their record going into the Meadowlands, the starters will be out there...

Especially considering they have the first round bye. He won't give them two weeks off in a row to get rusty. The Colts did that in 2005 and we all know how that worked out (lost to the Steelers).

Well, then that being said... it's always nice to see the underdog win... go 'phins (sorry)

If I were a Cowboys fan, I'd be worried about someone offering Jason Garrett a head-coaching job.

Shhh, don't give anyone any ideas. I'm perfectly happy where he is.

I'm starting to believe in the rumor that Wade Philips was only hired to give JG cover, and that he's really running things behind the scenes. I can't fathom how WP on his own could get the Boys to 12-1.

ESPN is reporting that Petrino is going to resign as head coach of the Falcons to take the head coach job at University of Arkansas...

What the hell is it with all the coaches signing contracts and then welching on the deal? The Falcons are going to suck for a while so don't let the bastard out of his contract. Suffer with the rest of them.

Now might be a good time to move the Falcon's to Los Angeles. Atlanta doesn't want them and Hollywood likes celebrities and entities crashing and burning.

At least Singletary has some NFL experience. College coaches haven't fared well going to the NFL..With the exception of Jimmie Johnson (and he had one helluva team talent wise),they have all sucked in the NFL....

SINGLETARY EMERGES AS EARLY FAVORITE TO REPLACE PETRINO

An industry source tells us that 49ers assistant head coach Mike Singletary is the guy whose name has initially popped up in discussions regarding the potential successor to former Falcons coach Bobby Petrino.

Per the source, Blank wants Singletary; Petrino was hired at the behest of G.M. Rich McKay.

There are multiple potential benefits that would flow from such a move. First, Singletary will be (in our view ) a great NFL head coach. Second, the thinking is that he'll straighten out a dysfunctional locker room. Third, the Falcons have the highest concentration of African-American season-ticket holders at 52 percent; in the wake of the Mike Vick fiasco the hiring of an African-American coach could go a long way toward reconnecting with an important segment of the Atlanta fan base.

In our view, however, skin color shouldn't be a factor in any hiring decision. The best person should get the job. But it would be naive to think that Blank isn't thinking about the potential impact of hiring a coach who is of the same race as a majority of the season-ticket holders, especially as the franchise moves forward without a player who is still beloved by many Falcons fans, whether white, black, purple, green, yellow, or red.

I love how on MNF, the owner of the Falcons was talking up Petrino. Saying how that in few years this team could be good because of him and his coaching ability. The next day he goes and bails on the team.

Who wants to hire this guy? He signs a 10 year contract with Louisville and then bounces. Then he signs a 5 year contract with Atlanta and bounces before the season is over. At least finish out the season you ungrateful bastard. I would never hire him as a head coach with his past actions.

Oh, and one other thing about Maroney: DID YOU SEE HIM MOVE THAT PILE 11 YARDS? OWNAGE.

That wasn't all him. A good portion of the offensive line was right there with him. But it was still impressive. I think we'll see quite a bit more running this week against the Jets and next week against the Lolphins (nice name, furcalchick)!

If they were pushing too much the play would have been blown dead

Are you sure? I thought plays were only blown dead when the defensive pile ups had stopped forward progress.

The same thing happened last year in the Saints-Eagles playoff game when Deuce pushed the entire Eagles defense 10 yards for a TD.

Agreed. Muroney's legs were still churning. But no one alone is strong enough to move 4 NFL defensive players backwards. Pats O-Line was definitely helping. Look at it again. It was a scrum, a la Aussie Rules Football.

yeah i know, and that should be illegal. you aren't supposed to be able to push your own player forward. he should have to do it himself. just like you can't pick up a player and carry him

Besides the Brady to Moss to Brady to Gaffney TD, that was my favorite play of the game. Effin' old skool!

Entirely agreed. And while we're at it, just stop hiring college coaches for the NFL entirely. It's a different set of skills, and they obviously don't translate.

Well, it's not clear they were pushing Maroney himself. At least some of them were pushing the d-linemen which removed Maroney's resistance and allowed him to keep moving. I'm sure there was some helping him along though. ;)

Maybe not move 4 defensive players, but the play reminded me of how Jim Brown used to do that repeatedly for the Browns. Still an impressive run.

And I do hope to see Muroney get 20 touches against NY.
