Overall, yes,I would say..The 2007 Pats are the best regular season team,at 16-0, in the history of the NFL..as of today...
Does regular season matter tho if they choke in the playoffs. Or are they separate, would people remember them as the team that lost the playoffs or the team that went 16-0

Let's put it this way..If they go,say,16-1..People will say..The Pats went 16-0 in the regular season, but lost in the first round. If you're 16-0,you should run the table..You play for a championship, not a regular season..

Man, you really like to talk about playoff choking. Still thinking about those 2004 Yankees?

While we're on specifics, the Pats 1st half of the season was the best half of a season in any sport.

A lot of that was based on the weather tho. As the games got colder the scores went down.

i think a lot of that was based on everyone thought Moss would play like he did the last 2 years in Oakland, and it took them a while to catch on....:D

seriously, congrats to the Pats on a great regular season, but they've got to finish the job.

i think Moss is what has made the difference, or at least Moss in combination with Brady.

We both know that if the Pats go out in the first game of the playoffs that ESPN will be calling it the biggest upset ever.

I'm going to have to say the entire receiving corps. Flexibility made it happen.

I agree with you. Moss was a big part of it, but he wouldn't have done it by himself--Welker and Stallworth were both important, as was Watson and Faulk. Plus, having Maroney didn't hurt either--even though he wasn't running for 100 yards a game, he is recognized as a threat to.

The Pats really played a lot of bad teams early in the season as well. Good teams don't get blown out by 40 points.

Chargers
Browns
Cowboys
Redskins
Colts
Eagles
Steelers
Giants

Those are all wins against good playoff caliber teams.

oh, to the rest of the Boston fans: Celtics improved to 25-3 tonight too :D

Since I didn't say earlier--Congrats to the Patriots. That is one amazing accomplishment!

Wow.

Crow tastes just like chicken. ;)

That said, Manning was pretty good tonight and the Giants really played a damned good game.

Collinsworth was the star of the telecast tonigight.

And I predict a ratings record come morning.

A rating records is exceedingly unlikely, mainly because the existing records were set during a different era in television. Cable had just come along in the early 1980s, when most of the records were set. M.A.S.H's finale drew well over a hundred million people, and the Redskins-Raiders drew over a 50 rating. That's not going to be touched in today's age.

Wow.All I can say is wow...Your hate is really clouding your judgment and altering your view of reality..They do when they're up against a superior team. Colts,Cowboys and Giants were all beaten on the road (all come from behind wins as well.Including 10 points in under 5 mins against the Colts). I'm sure you'll try and diminish that as well

Is 16 and 1 still a great season? If they go out in the playoffs will you still be celebrating?

It will be disappointing.

But it will still be a great season.

They went the entire season undefeated, and set a bevy of NFL records along the way.

How is that not a great season?

Wow.

Crow tastes just like chicken. ;)

LOL. Well said.

Agreed. This was a Pats game of old.. close close close and (lucky for me) a Pats win in the 4th quarter.

Change that "will" to "would"! BTW, I believe I've only seen Moss drop the ball like six times this year, and I think every time Brady went back to him on the next play - usually DEEP. Last night's game was one of the best I've ever seen. Hat's off to Eli and the Giants , they put up a great fight. Now we'll see if the Pat's can keep it rolling.

Read This Now

I'm only going to say this once, and publicly:

There's a whole lot of pointless fighting going on in this thread.

Some folks flamebait, and some folks can't seem to help themselves from falling for it. It's got to stop.

We all love the NFL, and we all love certain NFL teams. But this thread should be kept civil and constructive. It's quite irritating to have it boil down to (allagorically) a couple of drunks bellowing at each other in a bar whilst their embarassed friends look on.

So.. let's keep the name calling, flamebaiting, and flaming from this thread and have a great rest of the 2007 NFL Season.

-----------

Good luck to the Browns today.. I'd like to see them make it in, as I am sure Brownies fans would too.

Pats did a heck of a job, on anygiven day in the NFL 35 points means a win. Against the Pats you better come with more. I get the feeling they can kick it up a notch whenever they need to hence a perfect regular season.

Brady is like a robot, and so was Montana. Anyways Congrats to the Patriots.

Because they'll be forever known as the team that went 16-0 and couldn't get it done in the post season (ie choked). The goal of any sport's team is to win their respective championship..Not dominate in the regular season and set loads of scoring records then flameout in the post season. Brady said it best earlier in the week.."Nobody on this team is going to be happy if we go 16-1"...

You guys are crazy if you think the Patriots are going to get eliminated from playoff contention in their first game.

They will get to the super bowl, unless some team gets super hot and really finds a way to beat the Patriots at their home.
