Because they'll be forever known as the team that went 16-0 and couldn't get it done in the post season (ie choked). The goal of any sport's team is to win their respective championship..Not dominate in the regular season and set loads of scoring records then flameout in the post season. Brady said it best earlier in the week.."Nobody on this team is going to be happy if we go 16-1"...

Watch the Bruschi interview I linked a few posts back.

He said it doesn't really mean anything because it's the "regular" season.

You guys are crazy if you think the Patriots are going to get eliminated from playoff contention in their first game.

They will get to the super bowl, unless some team gets super hot and really finds a way to beat the Patriots at their home.

They'll certainly get to the AFC championship game. Whether they can beat the Colts two times in one season is another matter. The game this season was pretty close, other teams (Ravens, Giants) have perfected a gameplan against the Patriots, and I don't think we can rely on the corners to make as many game-changing interceptions. All these things make me drool with anticipation for this rematch.

Saw it..Been watching and listening to all the interviews all week long and since the post game last night. Current/former players, coaches, analysts etc echo the same sentiments as Brady and the other Pats....Second season begins in January....And home field advantage throughout isn't a bad thing either ;)

And when was the last time the Patriots lost at Gillette in the playoffs?

Brad-y! Brad-y! Brad-y!

(No, the other one.) :D

It will be disappointing.

But it will still be a great season.

They went the entire season undefeated, and set a bevy of NFL records along the way.

How is that not a great season?

So, to you, if they lost in the post season it wouldn't have been a great year?

The Pats really played a lot of bad teams early in the season as well. Good teams don't get blown out by 40 points.

It's so great to see a NY'er so bitter! When was the last time any of your sports teams have won a major championship?

What a great game last night

It would have been a great regular season...Huge difference between a great regular season and a great year....

Yeah, weren't cheap either. I'm glad it turned out to be such a good game. I swear, when Moss dropped that pass, and then ran the exact same route the next play and scored, I almost had a stroke. It was unbelievable.

What's sad is that everybody, except the Giants, knew that it was going to be the exact same play again.

Ahh... sorry Browns fans. Rough end to a great year. At least when you think about "more of the same" next year, it won't be Teh Suck™! :)

Congrats to the Redskins & Skins Fans! Great game.

Yeah, total bummer. I really wanted to see the Brows in the playoffs this year.

I could end up eating crow for this, but I think the Cowboys have peaked. I think they'll lose their first playoff game.

On the rest of the NFC side, I don't know what will happen, but I hope it's Green Bay vs. New York in the AFC championship game.

Either Colts of Jags versus the Pats in the AFC championship game will be epic.

HTTR!!!

I was at the Redskins-Cowboys game, and the electricity throughout the stadium was amazing! I really hope the redskins take it to the seahawks...

HTTR!!!

Nice to see the Skins get in this year. Props to the team for the way they got it rolling the last few weeks..

Bummer for the Browns. I look back to the game where they blew the lead against the Steelers.Tough loss..It's never a good thing when you have to scoreboard watch...
