After Favre's performance in the last 2 seasons, I figured he would (should have) retired . Too many mistakes, trying to push it too hard, which lead to more mistakes. Too old and unable to let go, I figured.

But, congrats to him on an excellent season!

The last 2 seasons weren't entirely his fault, the offensive line was getting rebuilt, and the running back position was plagued by injuries and an almost constant string of new running backs.

I figured he'd stay around for the TD record and then retire, but this season might boost his ego enough to stay another year or so to make another ring run.

As a side note why does no one ever seem to bring up that NE with their 17-0 record had a schedule advantage with getting to play Miami and the Jets twice, the only other team that got this benefit was Buffalo and they were only 7-9. So NE practically had 6 games just handed to them on a silver platter to start with? :D

RIVERS QUESTIONABLE FOR SUNDAY

Chargers backup quarterback Billy Volek came off of the bench to deliver a win in Sunday's divisional round game against the Colts.

He might get to try it again, without having to come off of the bench.

Starter Philip Rivers has an injured MCL, and might not play against the 17-0 Patriots.

"Right now it's probably questionable in terms of playing in the game, but he's got a chance," coach Norv Turner said Monday. "That will be a day-to-day thing and we'll monitor it as the week goes on."

The other offensive starter injured in Sunday's game, running back LaDainian Tomlinson, says that he plans to play.

"It's doing alright, it's a little sore today," Tomlinson said. "I think I'll definitely be able to play. I think they have me listed as questionable, but I'm pretty sure I'll be able to play."

Yeah but New England also played the Colts, San Diego, Giants, Cowboys, Redskins, and Steelers. And in the playoffs the Jaguars. Doesn't sound too easy to me.

The only teams in the playoffs that New England hasn't played are The Bucs, Seahawks, Titans and Packers. Do you honestly believe any of these teams could beat The Pats?

Pats never played the Packers.

This week's dumb ass award goes to:
Chargers' Igor Olshansky on the Patriots: 'They're More Worried Than We Are'
"Who? New England?" Olshansky said. "Seriously, I mean, they're more worried than we are, I promise you. Believe me. They know what's up."

I have no problem with confidence, even cockiness. But really? Olshansky thinks the Patriots are more worried than the Chargers are? I have a feeling a lot of players on the Patriots will chuckle at that one.

Will they ever learn?

Igor likes to talk:
Quote to note: "The way we're playing now, nothing can stop us. . . . I guarantee you that (Patriots coach Bill) Belichick and everybody else over there are scratching their heads saying, 'Man, we better get ready.' " - Igor Olshansky, Chargers defensive end

I hope he likes cold weather..Wind chill is supposed to be around zero at kickoff...

Haha lol. I went 1-2 tonight oh well. No need to apologize it's all in good fun.

BTW GO CHARGERS lol! Someone PLEASE beat New England.

I wasn't apologizing to you, I was apologizing for further derailing the thread. :D

Chargers, right. Packers are the only team left that have a shot at beating the Pats.

Agreed. The end of the world is neigh!

I'm still trying to recover from that commercial.

It's possible, the unstopable 1998 Denver Broncos got beat for the first time by the 8-8 New York giants who 13 games into the season only had 5 wins.

I agree that the Pats are a force to be reckoned with this season and any team that faces them is definitely the underdog.

My comment about their conference was mostly tongue in cheek, but other teams like Dallas and Indy had schedules within their conference where they had 2 other playoff teams that they had to play twice? Doesn't this take a bit more of a toll on a team than playing Buffalo, Miami, and the Jets 2x each? I'm not saying that they wouldn't be undefeated if those teams had done better this year, but blowout after blowout does allow much more time for the starters to be off the field, relaxing and recuperating and not facing potential injury.

We'll maybe find out about the Pack in the Super Bowl barring weekend upsets.:D

Can't put it on the Pats that the rest of the AFC East, for lack of a better word, sucks. You play who's on your schedule. The Pats have been playing playoff type games, with the exception of Miami, for at least six weeks now. And that's why Belichick never rests his starters.

I'm not blaming the Pats for their conference being poor, but those blowout games allow for resting of the starters that other teams don't necessarily get. Their season is very impressive, I'm just being facetious when I point out that they had 6 easy games. You could just as easily point out that the Packers managed to lose twice, once by a huge margin, to the Chicago Bears of all teams... if not for that we'd be 15-1...

But as it's been said before "Any given Sunday..."

hmm I don't think so.

Massachusetts was the earliest of the NE states in 1620.
CT wasn't until 1633.

Not into the union tho, CT 5 MA 6. Vermont wasn't even an original 13 colony so you could say they were the last to the party.

Rhode Island was the first to burn a British ship and first to declare independence, so :p to both of you!
Considering how well the Giants played New England on the road, they have a decent chance to beat them, I think, should they face them again.

Giants played the Pats at home.

Agreed..Still can't figure out how the Pack lost to the Bears  The blowouts were all early on tho. After the Buffalo game, there weren't any 35+ point wins down the stretch. Either way,the football games this weekend will be played the way it was meant to be played..Outside,in the cold and possibly snow.

I'm so excited because a friend just gave me a ticket to the Packers game Sunday. 50 yard line, 5th row back from the bench. It would be my bad luck that I live 1200 miles away. Hey - that's what planes are for...I guess I'll be blowing a bunch of money on tickets and a car now. Oh well! Go pack!

If Rivers had a bionic leg, robotic arm and laser targeting eyesight the Chargers would still lose by 24 points.

Separated at birth..Phillip Rivers and Ryan Leaf.

NO WAY. Rivers ain't great (the Chargers were better off with Brees) but he isn't Leaf. Frankly, I don't think the poorest QB in the league is equal to Leaf. That guy blew and screwed over a GM (Beathard) coach and a franchise for a...

DECADE!

Think about that.

Where would the Colts be if they picked differently? Chasing the Dolphins tail for the past ten years?!

BTW, our local AM radio guy made a Bill Belicheat (Hateriots) song for you guys (I thing the Boston Herald or something wrote about it): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTqrAnzwX3o
