Team medical didn't pick up on this? I would be surprised if there wasn't a clause somewhere in that record deal contract to deal with reduced payments for things such as this. Surely this injury was know before you signed him.

From what I gather, the injury turned out to be worse than anybody thought (even the surgeons), so I don't think Fulham cheated Hull, it's just bad luck. I don't think there's any way to assess ligament damage accurately without arthroscopic surgery, so it's not something the team medical could have picked up on.

Best of luck to him though, hopefully he's back on the pitch next season.

Speaking of injuries, it seems that Eduardo tried a little too hard to impress on his debut as he's out for two weeks with a hammy strain.

Six months, they're saying. For Bullard I mean, not Eduardo.

Still, we've generally managed to do well so far this season without Bullard – I'm not going to start saving up for a weekend in Blackpool on the strength of this injury.

Apparently, the Hull medical team did know of the cartiledge tear but went ahead with the transfer anyway because they thought they could handle that. It was only when that was examined that they found out about the reconstructive surgery. I think Hull's chairman and manager are insane to have gone through with this acquisition. 5 million plus millions more in wages is something a club like Hull cannot afford. It also now makes it clear why Fulham were agreeable in selling what many considered to be their best player.

Hull won't go down though. They have some fighting spirit and are definitely better than most of the other relegation battlers.

We knew that Bullard had a minor tear to his meniscus cartilage, and this was confirmed by his medical – it's a problem that can be generally be resolved with a minor op, indeed our striker Daniel Cousin underwent a similar procedure a couple of weeks ago and is now reckoned to be ready to return to action. It was felt that Bullard's injury was manageable and the transfer only held a minor risk.

However, when Bullard was operated on fresh damage was found to his anterior cruciate ligament – an unrelated injury to the meniscus cartilage one, this new problem apparently caused when he made his debut against West Ham.

It was only when that was examined that they found out about the reconstructive surgery.
It's well known that Bullard has had reconstructive surgery on his knee and it's certainly no secret – he was after all out for well over a year recovering from it. It's also worth remembering that he's managed to play for Fulham over 30 times since returning from said injury without his any sign of his kneecap falling off.

Anyway, Roy Hodgson has been having a good chuckle about knowing about Bullard's injury before we signed him – I suspect though that he's talking about the meniscus tear, seeing as how the cruciate ligament damage was apparently sustained after Bullard's transfer and was only noticed by one of the world's leading knee specialists when he was actually operating on it...

So i was at old trafford watching Utd v Blackburn and boy did they push us, good win for us though made even sweeter by Liverpool drawing at home against Man-City (the arch enemy). Sitting 7 points ahead now with 12 games remaining in the season.

Understood. Intresting though that Manyure probably has 30 or so teams that would consider themselves (the arch enemy). ;)

Of course, rivalries aren't always reciprocated. While some are as intense on both sides (the Old Firm or Arsenal and Spurs, for example) there are plenty of instances where one club will feel an intense rivalry with another club, whose supporters couldn't give two hoots about the other.

Manchester United supporters – and I'm happy to be corrected by garybUK if I'm mistaken – would consider Manchester City (local rivals), Liverpool (they're the two most successful clubs in the country and aren't that far apart geographically either), and historically Leeds United as their most bitter rivals.

From your point of view pachyderm, who would you consider to be Wendesday's key rivals – aside from Sheffield United, of course?

City are the local ones but the main enemy is Liverpool, Leeds were at one point but who are they now? :D If we win this season we will be level with Liverpool which should silence most of the scouse!!

(Liverpool is only about 35 miles from Manchester).

And please less of the 'Manyure' it just comes off as childish. This is supposed to be a discussion about Football, not attacks on particular clubs.

Thanks.

To be honest I think (as I have said for some time now) that you will have the league this year. Liverpool are building up nicely but to compete with the shear spending power that United have and have had for a long time is very hard. And with the whole Gillette Hicks cock up it won't be resolved, hopefully DIC will come back in. I seem to remember reading that they would wait until the summer as they could get a better price for the club then.

Oh only be level on League titles , still have a long way to go elsewhere. :p

...Leeds were at one point but who are they now?
Indeed – but knowing a few Manchester United fans around here, their dislike for Leeds hasn't diminished – even though the West Yorkshire club's status has.

Of course, that may have something to do with the fact we're in Yorkshire too and there are a lot of Leeds fans around these parts. Likewise, I wonder if southern-based Manchester United fans would consider Arsenal as more weighty rivals than their north-west-based counterparts – perhaps on a par with Liverpool or City – due to the fact that they're likely to come into much more contact with Arsenal fans and stuff?

I just noticed that MLS Cup champions Columbus will be playing 7th division side Guisely AFC in a friendly, after which they will face Everton and Liverpool on those clubs' training grounds. I am actually excited about this :)D), seeing my two favorite club sides face off, even if Everton and Liverpool will probably field reserves. I've played this game before in FIFA '08 on the PS2...

Yeah, you definitely called the championship a while back. I was really hoping that this season would be a real title challenge for the Reds, but looking at the table I think the single statistic that stands out for Liverpool is home draws. Had we won most of those matches things might be different.

One thing I would say about the Man City game was that Babel looked awful when he came on - he gave the ball away pretty much every time he got it.

United all but have it sewn up at this point, even if we win at Old Trafford. They are so deep compared to all the other teams in the prem. I can say that the best team looks set to win it, but I wish the race was closer, at this point most people will be more interested in the fight for European spots and the relegation battle.

I find Benitez's managing mystifying at times, but one thing I do agree with him on is that he is right to demand more control - this is especially important with the ownership issues being what they are. Stability is important, and Benitez (despite what some opposing fans say) is the most stable element in the organization at the moment. That's my opinion anyway, FWIW.

I can't wait to watch Man U vs Inter tomorrow in the Champions League - I hope the Mancunians are beaten but either way I expect it to be an exciting game.

FINALLY!!!

Finally got my BIG Sony Bravia and Digital HDTV.
And, I got the Dutch Sport1 packet, and so FINALLY I will be able to watch Premier League games live on Saturday and Sunday over here in Holland. YESS!!!!

I usually go to see Arsenal every year (hopefully more than once), but this season I haven't been able to go yet.

But, I have seen Arsenal live on TV again!
So much better than waiting for some highlights after knowing all the results.
... but it is so frustrating to watch. It could be our season FA Cup wise, though, but we need to catch Aston Villa. Come on!

Arshavin looks great though. Could be a blessing in disguise that Adebayor is out...

This makes me so happy:
Live coming Saturday!!

Awesome! Now you can see just how much product Ronaldo has in his hair. :D

Watching these live games do have their drawbacks...

Just saw Tottenham score the 1-2 against Hull..

Boo. Hiss.

Hi All,

For anyone interested out there, the Aussie football/soccer league's grand final is on this Saturday 28th (the A-League).

Melbourne Victory vs Adelaide United

Hopefull this is a repeat of the 2007 grand final where Melbourne beat the Reds 6-0 thanks to 5 goals from Archie Thompson. :D

Any fellow Victory fans on this board?

Cheers

Ash

I try to avoid Man Utd games, TBO.
I get so annoyed by Ronaldo. He is the most irritating little **** you can watch on TV. Evah!
So, I don't want his appearance spoil my TV screen... ;)

Why? because they show you how boring dutch football really is? Wake me up when PSV, Ajax or Feyenoord come back from the 70's / 80's unless you class the Russian Railways Cup as good

I see all the hate for Man Utd here as just pure jealousy imho. European champions, English champions and world club champions and looking good this season, must really taste bitter for you all ;)
