I was just looking at the league table and hadn't realised you were in quite as much peril as you are. Hopefully we'll both have cause to celebrate come the end of the season.

How's the boy Bridges doing for you?

Yeah, the 2 extra games we've played is going it make it 'squeaky bum time' by the end of the season. We could win all of our remaining games and still go down.

Typical Michael Bridges to be honest, plays a few games then picks up a knock. When playing and fit mind, he's still a class above in this league. Will be important for us until the end of the season and hopefully we can stay in this league and keep him next year. There was however talk of move to MK:Dons but as far as I know we do have first refusal on a permanent deal come the end of the year.

I'm not sure to be honest, but I think I'm right in saying his contract expires in June in which case he'll be available on a free at the very least.

By the way, something which further added to the woe at the Riverside on Saturday – not only do Middlesbrough commit the ultimate sin of playing music after they score, but they also let a player pick the pre-match and half-time music. It was the turn of Stuart Downing on Saturday and I can confirm his record collection is absolutely awful.

Im worried about the Gunners defence tomorrow. Gallas, Djourou, Clichy & Almunia all out but Villareal will also have key players like Carzole, Cani & Senna out.

Hmm dunno...firing power will even more so have to come from Midfield it seems

:(

I didn't think Liverpool would pull it off, but it's a shame we exit the Champions League being shut out at Anfield and then leaking 7 goals on aggregate. And it had to be to Chelsea, my second least favorite team in the Prem.

Anyway, I think Porto can win their tie and I'm hoping for a non-English final (if there must be an English team in there I'd prefer Arsenal).

Twenty years ago today, thousands of Liverpool supporters made their way to Sheffield to watch their team take on Nottingham Forest in an FA Cup semi-final tie. As we all know, 96 of them never returned home.

Whatever team you support, please take a moment to remember them today.

96 RIP.

You'll Never Walk Alone.

I didn't remember them and never will, why do people think it's alright to make fun of the Munich Air Disaster but all hell breaks loose if you don't remember the Liverpool fans, granted innocent people died because of thugs pushing their way in. but still.

I certainly don't consider that acceptable, and I know I'm not alone in that sentiment.

If you cast your minds back to last year's commemorations of that particular tragedy, the occasion was observed impeccably by the away supporters at Old Trafford - despite them considering you their bitterest rivals.

It should be pointed out that the Taylor Report absolved Liverpool fans of any responsibility. Poor policing was ultimately to blame.

Many of us who post here attend football matches on a regular basis, the idea that we might actually die at one seems totally unthinkable.

If what happened doesn't strike a chord with you – nor the efforts of the victim's families to actually try and find out how and why their loved ones died – then that's entirely your perogative, but please don't be surprised if others don't share your point of view.

Irony, I loves it

To be honest I was coming on here to talk about the Chelsea - Liverpool game last night and how great it was but I am so incensed by your frankly ridiculous statement.

Today of all days as well.

For anyone interested and has Sky/some sort of TV package LFC TV is being made free to air today for some programs on the disaster.

Well said Jaffa.

What an amazing game, I missed the first 30 minutes due to being at work, but was glued to the game from then onwards.

Great game, good luck to Chelsea in the semi's.

I don't expect you to agree with my sentiments, but i know a LOT of liverpool supporters and when going to games at Anfield like to make fun of it but as soon as one word is uttered about said incident it's all different and how dare we?!

I'm sorry but I don't think you should epxect everyone to feel the same as you either..

bye.

It shouldn't be alright to make fun of the Munich Air Disaster. But I don't agree with the rest of your sentiment. This was posted on the Arsenal forum I use and I agree with it:

For any old gits like me who went through football in the 70s and early 80s will know there but for the grace of god. I was on the North Bank in a swaying, heaving crowd that afternoon and it never crossed my mind I was in danger, but we all were to a certain extent that afternoon and hundreds of other occasions.

96 people like you and me went to a semi final, like I am doing with my son Saturday, and never came back. They died in a slow sickening way, mostly asphyxiated or crushed. Men, women and children.

Don't let your dislike of the Scousers colour your views. It was a tragedy, it was sickening and indiscriminate in who it killed.

For those who will mention the Scousers disregard of Heysel it is a fair point, but I was there for the CWC final and saw Arsenal fans attacking Valencia fans at the final whistle so don't be so sanctimonious.

It is a sad day. Respect those football fans who just went to watch a match and never came home.

As simple as that really.

As for Arsenal/Villarreal/Man U/Porto "living up" to last night - can I be the first to say I bloody hope the Arsenal match is nothing like that, a clean convincing 2-0 win tonight would be much better, thanks :)

Wouldn't mind the utterly convincing 3-0, eh? :D
Okay.. 3 mins to go. but hey, I'm H-A-P-P-Y!!! :)

EDIT: Great to see Pires at the end

I think used to think garybUK got a hard time in here because he was the token Man U fan and therefore took quite a bit of abuse, however a lot of those comments upset me, in particular "thugs pushing their way in". Did you believe The Sun when it claimed Scousers stole wallets from the bodies?

I am perhaps fortunate to remember proper terracing at Hampden when it held 80,000+ in the 80's and the crowd moments terrified me, as a young lad you got picked up by the crowd and just went with the flow. However what really annoys me was that Hillsborough was totally preventable if the lessons of Ibrox in 1971 were learned. Determined not to let it happen again, Rangers got into considerable debt rebuilding their stadium and it wasn't until the Murray/Souness years did they have the money to spend on players. A lesson soon dealt out by the Taylor Report.

And by the way, my dad was at that game in 1971, as was Alex Ferguson.

I guess I might be the other token Man Utd supporter here, and while I do agree with garybUK that you still hear occasional taunts about the Munich Air Disaster, that does not excuse making such distasteful comments about Liverpool fans and Hillsborough. Do your part to break the cycle of childish taunting and we'll all have a better chance of growing up together.

Congrats to Arsenal on a dominating victory today. Really looking forward to the semi-finals!
