As far as the Favre trade,it could go either way for the Jets..How's he going to handle not seeing throngs of fans with cheese on their head when flies into NY from Hattiesburg ? He has a bad game on a Sunday,he's not going to have his usual cadre of ballwashing media appologists surrounding him. He'll get ripped to shreds at every turn in NY. What about team chemistry? What are they going to do with Pennington & Clemens? How will the Penguin handle being overshadowed at every turn by one of his players?
This has all the makings of turning into the Hotel California for the Jets..It could be heaven,or it could be hell..

Edit:pennington to be traded....

The Bears should pick up Pennigton. He'd be perfect for the short throwing style of offense the Bears have.

The Dolphins also brought in Quincy Carter from the scrap for a look. There are several teams that will take a look at Pennington.Vikings,Chiefs (his connections with Herm Edwards),Tampa Bay etc..Many teams in the league are needy at the QB position..
Potential for great theatre in regard to the Jets/Favre..Esp with the New York media...

It's only been one quarter of the 1st game of the preseason but Jerod Mayo already looks great. He's going to be huge for the Patriots defense this year.

Going back and forth between the Pats and ESPN (Saints/Cards)..OMG, Tony Cornhole is still as annoying as all hell. Please stay on PTI..
New rule for this year..ALL facemask penalties will be 15 yards..No more 5 or 15.

That whole crew is annoying.

That is very sad news to hear. I've been a Jet fan since Testaverde. I always had hopes for him. There were times where I thought he could make a difference, but it never really panned out.

I think Favre will make a nice addition to the Jets. It makes me feel like the old days of Joe Namath are coming back. What the Jets really need is a leader. I think Favre - with all his experience, can do that. Only time will tell, but I think it will make all the difference in the world.

I'm just sad that it needed to come at Pennington's expense.

The Dolphins were in talks with Pennington.

One bad team to another - OY!

Not having a TV hinders how often I've seen it, but I do enjoy Tony on PTI. That said, if I never see or hear him call another game I'll be a happier man for it.

You're not missing a thing..PTI is perfect for Tony. That's the setup that's made for him..Hearing him on that crew, actually makes me miss Dennis Miller

This just in..The Pat's O line picked up where they left off in Phoenix. Sucking. Big time.. I know it's only preseason game number one,but geeezz..Numerous times Cassell went back to pass and their were a couple of Raven's rushing in..It wouldn't surprise me,if over the next couple weeks, the Pats try and get some O linemen in for a workout..And the lack of a bona fide backup to Brady is also an area of concern..He goes out for any length of time,so go the Pats.....

The Pats are going to need to change the playbook, the Giants really exploited their weakness and other teams are going to follow.

Wasn't one of the concerns the age of the O line. If they can't protect the QB they are going to have problems.

Yes,which is probably the reason they brought in Jordan at RB. Hopefully they'll go with more quick slants/screens as teams will pass rush the hell out of them the way the Giants did in the SB.But they do need to address depth at O line..

Light and Neal didn't play at all, and Mankins and Koppen looked fine. Blame Kaczur and the rest of the backups for sucking complete ass. Kaczur is ****ing awful and I want him off the team. He was the biggest reason why we lost the super bowl.

They have 16 offensive linemen on the roster. They just have to figure out which ones don't suck.

The line was great for the first 18 games last year, so I'm not too worried.

Same goes for Indy, Cincy, Pitt, Philly, Dallas, Jax, San Diego, Seattle, etc. When you have a player that is that good, there's no way a backup can replace them.

The Pats are going to need to change the playbook, the Giants really exploited their weakness and other teams are going to follow.

Belichick will obviously make adjustments. The two main reasons the Giants got so much pressure were (a) Nick Kaczur is ****ing terrible and he couldn't block Strahan and Osi to save his life and (b) the Giants had those two elite pass rushers. Not that many teams in the NFL have two guys like that.

Wasn't one of the concerns the age of the O line.

I don't think so. Age was the main concern with the linebackers.

I expect the offense to be much more balanced than it was last year. A healthy Maroney all through camp is going to be huge. Once he got healthy last year he had 4 100 yard games in the last 6 games. Combine that with Sammy Morris, Kevin Faulk, LaMont Jordan, and Heath Evans at FB and the Patriots have one of the deepest running back corps in the NFL.

I definitely expect the running game to be stronger this year (and they weren't bad last year, top 10 in the league), which will make the whole offense more explosive. It will keep defenses more on edge knowing that both aspects of the offense are so solid, plus you can throw in screens with Welker and Maroney to keep them even more off balance.

The most encouraging thing I saw last night was the play of some of the young guys on defense. Mayo, Meriweather, Crable, Woods, and Wheatley all looked great.

Jerod Mayo is going to be the key for this defense this year, and he's going to be great. Adding his youth, speed, and playmaking abilities to the veteran linebacker corps is going to be huge. This is going to let Tedy Bruschi play way less snaps, so when he's on the field he'll be more effective. Also having solid backups in Crable (who they compared to a young Willie McGinist as far as his style of play last night), Woods, and Hobson to spell Bruschi, Vrabel, and Thomas will be big.

Meriweather is also going to be key this year. Near the end of last season, he showed some flashes of brilliance, but I expect him to be even better this year. There was one play last night (3rd quarter maybe) where he squared up on a guy and made a solid, hard open field tackle when there was no other blue jerseys within 5 yards. Great play, and kind of reminded me of a Rodney Harrison style play. If he can keep up play like that, he'll be good.

Pats got what they needed most in the draft..Youth and speed at ILB..They got torched over the middle big time in the SB as well as by Feeley and the Eagles in the reg season.Mayo and Crable look good so far at ILB.Thomas had his best game of the year in the SB and it was on the outside, where he belongs.Merriweather looks like he's learned a lot and his hands have improved. Somehow,Samuel tricked the Eagles into thinking that he was a lockdown corner and got paid like one..Seymour needs to have a big year. Hopefully he doesn't play fullback on the goal line, which is how he got hurt two years ago.Running game needs Maroney to be healthy for 16 games. He came on strong at the end and with the addition of Jordan and getting Morris back, that's a big plus. A more balanced attack is what they need..
Pats need to get back to what got them the 3 SB's..Smash mouth football with a grind it out running game and a hard hitting D..Forget about setting records and putting up 40-50 points..
Already looking forward to week 2 vs. the Jets...

Actually it's spelled Belicheat.:)

Pennington to Dolphins

Gotta love it. Farve vs. Pennington in the season opener. The hype will be great.

Pennington, cut by the New York Jets after they signed Brett Favre, signed an $11.5 million, two-year contract with Miami on Friday. He is expected to be the starting quarterback for the Dolphins this season, serving as a bridge to the future for one of the Dolphins’ two quarterbacks.

Not to bring up a beat subject, but I have been gone.

But Farve needs to retire. Him ending his career as a Jet just ruins it for him I think. His mistake, but whatever.

Anyways, getting excited for football. Here is to hoping the Cowboys and Charges do great this coming year.

Check Down Chad with the Fins..He's back w/the guy that brought him into the league. And Parcells would love to stick it to the Jets,as would Pennington.

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. (AP) -- Brett Favre said his rocket right arm felt "fatigued" -- but not sore -- during a break from his fifth day of practice with the New York Jets.
"My arm's kind of dragging a little bit today," the quarterback said Wednesday after the Jets' morning session. "It's not really sore, but just fatigued. To be honest with you, I'm surprised that, I don't want to say I feel good, that I've been able to make it through every practice so far."

LOL

This reminds me of Schilling from the beginning of this season...
