Now that I'm back from my nerdfest...actually I just got in a few minutes ago.
I was able to catch bits and pieces of the game by ducking into a pizza shop two doors down from where I was doing my thing between breaks. I don't know what pitch black/eyes not necessary cave those referees came from, but they need to be sent back there. So many bad calls just in the parts I saw, but a win is a win is a win. It could have been worse and almost was.
Typical brutal SEC Game
Every team that wins a NC has a game like this that they "escape". It is those teams that are afforded the opportunity to play for the NC because those that don't escape with a win are reshuffled with the pack. I am reminded of Tennessee's win over Arkansas back in the year they won the NC and so many others... UGA's win over Florida... run, Lindsey, run... etc. This could be "the game" you look back at as being that escape moment. You still have to get past Miss State/Auburn/Florida and that will be no small feat.
The SEC, while good, is vastly overrated.
C'mon Badanday, you usually have some valid points, and I have not bashed USC here too much, but you lose all credibility when you say things like that.
Get over the fact that LSU said "no" to you. LSU has the weakest non-conference schedule in the country and they justify it by playing in the SEC, but they are not the whole SEC. UGA played Arizona State who was supposed to be good from the Pac 10, and Tennessee played UCLA from the Pac 10. Florida plays FSU every year and Miami this year. Auburn played West Virginia. Alabama played Clemson and so on. We are going out of conference more and more.
We can't ALL play USC. You guys get as much or more respect than you probably deserve, so I don't know what your complaint is. Giving USC love means you have take it from Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, et. al. and they deserve their respect too. Expecting the whole football world to worship at the shrine of USC football and the deity that is Pete Carroll is a little much to stomach.
Sure, the PAC-10 is weak this year, but I think we could take most everyone out there in the country.
The other 1 loss teams feel the same way... and they have as good a case or better than USC does... and in most cases a better resume
I disagree about USC being the best one loss team. Who I would put ahead of them:
1.) Texas - 4th in BCS, lost on road on last second TD to current BCS #2.
2.) Oklahoma - 6th in BCS, lost at neutral site to current BCS #4.
3.) Florida - 5th in BCS, lost to Mississippi by 1 point
Then I would put in USC, who lost to Oregon St. by 6 points.
Hard to argue with your logic gibbz
Fighting words my friend.
Even as bad as we played today, I was more upset by Kentucky's beautiful screen pass with the game on the line. Talk about handing the game away....
Friendly fighting words
I really think it will be a great game. Our defense is struggling right now and hope <fingers crossed> that Richt will do the right thing and make a change at the end of the year. I'm gonna miss Chan Gailey on the sidelines on the 29th
How about Burnt Orange? You know, God's color.![]()
Just call it reddish-brown or something else and I'm there with you... hook'em horns
