Now that I'm back from my nerdfest...actually I just got in a few minutes ago.
I was able to catch bits and pieces of the game by ducking into a pizza shop two doors down from where I was doing my thing between breaks. I don't know what pitch black/eyes not necessary cave those referees came from, but they need to be sent back there. So many bad calls just in the parts I saw, but a win is a win is a win. It could have been worse and almost was.

Typical brutal SEC Game

Every team that wins a NC has a game like this that they "escape". It is those teams that are afforded the opportunity to play for the NC because those that don't escape with a win are reshuffled with the pack. I am reminded of Tennessee's win over Arkansas back in the year they won the NC and so many others... UGA's win over Florida... run, Lindsey, run... etc. This could be "the game" you look back at as being that escape moment. You still have to get past Miss State/Auburn/Florida and that will be no small feat.

The SEC, while good, is vastly overrated.

C'mon Badanday, you usually have some valid points, and I have not bashed USC here too much, but you lose all credibility when you say things like that.

Get over the fact that LSU said "no" to you. LSU has the weakest non-conference schedule in the country and they justify it by playing in the SEC, but they are not the whole SEC. UGA played Arizona State who was supposed to be good from the Pac 10, and Tennessee played UCLA from the Pac 10. Florida plays FSU every year and Miami this year. Auburn played West Virginia. Alabama played Clemson and so on. We are going out of conference more and more.

We can't ALL play USC. You guys get as much or more respect than you probably deserve, so I don't know what your complaint is. Giving USC love means you have take it from Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, et. al. and they deserve their respect too. Expecting the whole football world to worship at the shrine of USC football and the deity that is Pete Carroll is a little much to stomach.

Sure, the PAC-10 is weak this year, but I think we could take most everyone out there in the country.

The other 1 loss teams feel the same way... and they have as good a case or better than USC does... and in most cases a better resume

I disagree about USC being the best one loss team. Who I would put ahead of them:

1.) Texas - 4th in BCS, lost on road on last second TD to current BCS #2.
2.) Oklahoma - 6th in BCS, lost at neutral site to current BCS #4.
3.) Florida - 5th in BCS, lost to Mississippi by 1 point
Then I would put in USC, who lost to Oregon St. by 6 points.

Hard to argue with your logic gibbz

Fighting words my friend.

Even as bad as we played today, I was more upset by Kentucky's beautiful screen pass with the game on the line. Talk about handing the game away....

Friendly fighting words ;)
I really think it will be a great game. Our defense is struggling right now and hope <fingers crossed> that Richt will do the right thing and make a change at the end of the year. I'm gonna miss Chan Gailey on the sidelines on the 29th :( He was one of our greatest allies... him and Reggie Ball ;)

How about Burnt Orange? You know, God's color. :)

Just call it reddish-brown or something else and I'm there with you... hook'em horns ;) You guys are gonna needs some help.

Yeah, we are. I'm not particularly concerned though - I'm just enjoying the ride. This has been a better season than I could have ever hoped for - any BCS bowl would be a treat.

I don't think the Tide will get past the Gators
And I don't think Red Raiders will get past the Sooners
Both will be awesome games

And that will open up the whole realm of one loss teams with an argument
I know, I know... "playoff"
But we don't have one :)

Which makes all the talk a lot of fun... for me at least
I'd rather talk trash here than the PRSI ;)

Blasphemy..... pure blasphemy.

I did not say I wanted it to be so... but I watched that game against LSU and honestly... LSU was crushed by the Dawgs and by the Gators. Your defense hasn't been the same since Cody got hurt, and your offense isn't moving the ball. You've got a few weeks to step it up, but you better answer this wake up call or you will be in for a long night in the Dome. The Gators are too fast for you.

Yeah I know.... dang you for pointing out the obvious...

I have pretty much said the same thing. We have had problems moving the ball in the second half for pretty much most of the season. Although we have stepped that up the past few weeks thank god... or we would be a little farther down the list.

Florida at #3. I've said all along it's Florida and Texas in the Championship game, but if Oklahoma beats Texas Tech I think that vaults Oklahoma over Texas.

Florida's in the title game, I don't think that's a question. The question now is who from the Big 12 will challenge them?

Oh yeah - A&M is horrible. But OU seems to be on a mission. I think they'll take Tech down. We'll see!

But regardless, it's 8:06pm and:

OU STILL SUCKS!

OU problem is they have a VERY VERY soft defense a much softer defense than OSU. Tech can and have multiple times in the past really put a huge number of points on the board. The past 2 games they really stop Texas and OSU from putting points up when this season both those teams quite often are putting near 50 or more on the board.

OU is just a bad sport team. They did massive over kill on A&M and they have on multiple teams this year when they clearly have a huge control over them.

That would put the final placement of the big 12 as
Texas Tech
Texas
OSU.
OU.

then you can start the big 12 north because lets face it the big 12 south are dominating the big 12 this year.

OU will always suck in my book. They are a overrated football team year after year.

I do want to see both Texas Tech and OSU beat them. It would be great to see OU be completely pushed out of a chance of getting in a BSC game. It would be great to see them be a 3 loss team.

If Texas Tech wins out the deserve the NC
They are a Senior laden team and this is their year or the door closes on them

C'mon Badanday, you usually have some valid points, and I have not bashed USC here too much, but you lose all credibility when you say things like that.

Look, the SEC is way better than the Pac-10 this year, but it is by no means the best conference EVAR. All I hear about, every damn year, is how the SEC teams are all top 10 teams but they beat up on each other. If that were the case, it would seem like some in your conference would put up more of a fight against us than they have. That's just my experience, from watching those games.

We played Arkansas, at Arkansas, and beat them 56-10 or something the year they went 10-2 and won the SEC West. Six straight against SEC opponents.

UGA played Arizona State who was supposed to be good from the Pac 10, and Tennessee played UCLA from the Pac 10.

I'll give you ASU. They're trash this year, but you guys couldn't possibly foresee that. Just like we shouldn't be penalized for playing in the Pac-10 on a down year. That game, however, was the first time Georgia went west of Texas to play a game since the 1950's. UCLA, to borrow the words of Mike Gundy, is absolute garbage. Tennessee should not be lauded for playing those scum. Tennessee also played Wyoming, and lost.

Florida plays FSU every year and Miami this year. Auburn played West Virginia. Alabama played Clemson and so on. We are going out of conference more and more.

Perhaps one of you should play USC eventually. We're always up for it. I'm just afraid no one will agree to it because they're afraid of losing, then going back to play an SEC schedule where when they "beat up on each other" we'll know that they don't all deserve top 15 rankings.

We can't ALL play USC. You guys get as much or more respect than you probably deserve, so I don't know what your complaint is.

The complaint is that we lose a fluke game and people are so quick to dismiss us as a team because of the strength of our conference in a particular year. The conference strength is important when you have a team that usually doesn't get respect so the people need to see if that team is "real" or not. We don't have that problem.

Giving USC love means you have take it from Florida, Texas, Oklahoma, et. al. and they deserve their respect too. Expecting the whole football world to worship at the shrine of USC football and the deity that is Pete Carroll is a little much to stomach.

Stomach six straight BCS bowl games and six straight top four finishes. Florida, Texas, and Oklahoma can't say that. Until they can, it's always a safe bet to give us the benefit of the doubt over someone else. We've earned it.

I don't think they are the best EVAR, but year in and year out they are the best conference. This year, the argument can be made for the Big 12 or at least the Big 12 South. Last year? The SEC East in my opinion.

We played Arkansas, at Arkansas, and beat them 56-10 or something the year they went 10-2 and won the SEC West. Six straight against SEC opponents.

Your games against Arkansas and Auburn were the first of the year if I recall and we all know how things like that go. Were you better prepared? The better team? I would say yes... at that time. Teams evolve over a season and find their identity. Nobody is saying USC sucks... they are a good team, maybe even a great team. Are they invincible? No... ask Oregon State, UCLA and Stanford.

When games are scheduled there is no way to predict who will be good and who won't. Yes, it was the Dawgs first trip west in ages. But they will be going to Colorado and to Stillwater soon. Give credit for the changes in the SEC instead of criticizing what the didn't do in the past. Tennessee scheduled UCLA and they suck. Well, they took you out of the NC a while back didn't they???

We have... and you are quick to remind us of your record. So they apparently aren't ducking you. So LSU said "no". LSU sucks at out of conference, but don't blame the whole conference for them. I don't think UGA, Florida, Alabama, or others are afraid of you. You tout our record against the SEC and we tout ours against the Big 10. So what. What matters is right now and right now you lost when you had your chance.

Hmmmmmm, apparently you do. You play a weak schedule and lose to a weak team and people will question you. What is your "signature win" this year? Ohio State? Ha! Ha! Texas Tech took out Texas. Texas took out Oklahoma. Alabama and Florida will play each other. And so it goes. Who have you played that builds your resume like the Big 12 and SEC? Hmmmmm, nobody.

Six straight BCS bowls... you play a weak schedule in a weak conference and you get an automatic bid from the Pac 10. Florida State use to run the same domination in the ACC and Miami in the Big East. So what.

It is arguments like yours that just make people want to see USC get their a** handed to them. Support your team, but don't carry such a chip on your shoulder about how they get a raw deal. It isn't you against the world. You have a good team. But there are others out there.

Sorry if I sound harsh... I'm not. I like you a lot Badandy and I love your passion. I even like USC, even if doesn't sound like it. I respect a lot of teams (except those effin Gators :)), USC included. I love my Dawgs, but I am not blind to their shortcomings.

Have you been to a tide game? It is funny you put that up, I haven't been but my brother has, and he told me that there are people who have sticks with those items on it... and then you have the people who bring in just the bottles and tp rolls...

To freaking funny you put that up......

Nah... but I follow college football enough to know about these kinds of things
Every school has their "stuff" they do

Probably make a good spin off thread... to discuss college football traditions
You know... things like the "Iron Bowl", the little brown jug, the rock at Clemson and the graveyard, the Seminole spear in the turf, the Hedges, Rocky Top, Paul Bunyan's axe, et. al.

Hate the Gators with a passion... more than Tennesse, more than Auburn, more than Georgia Tech

Certified Gator Hater

Gotta ask man, have you always hated the Gators the most? Or is it just because of the last few years?

Had to ask, because my degree of hating UGA has gone up (if that's possible?) in recent years due to the current skid we are on. Thanks to UGA MVP Reggie Ball especially for helping you guys out so much.

Can't we just get Little Joe Hamilton to play again?? :D

Always hated the Gators the most, from as long as I can remember

But you gotta remember, the Spurrier years were dark for the Dawgs
And we still have not seen much light... 3 wins in the past 18 years or some nonsense like that

We LOVE Reggie... bring him back!

University of Utah=2004 NCAA football national champions.

That would not do it. There being a 3 way tie in the big 12 will do more damage than anything else because then you have to argue if Texas, OU or Tech is the best team in the Big 12 south.

A real question to ask is what happens if Texas Tech and Texas are number 1 and 2. Based on the look over the BCS that could very easily happen. It would take Alabama losing and Texas Tech beating OU. Both of which could easily happen. if that happens it leaves the door wide open for a good shot at 2 big 12 schools being 1 and 2.

Ranking wise I think losing to a high rank team does way to much damage. there is a legit argument that OSU should still be in the top 10. Their only loses have been to a number 1 and number 2 ranked team.
