Ugg....looks like any other year has for Tech now. Hey as long as we get the W on Nov. 29th all is good.

That sucked for you today RamblinWreck
I thought about you too... because you guys had a nice run in the making
You had a shot at the Conference and a BCS Bowl

Now you get Miami (not gonna be easy) and the Dawgs
You may not fall into Chan Gailey territory... but it is disappointing I know

For a while your season was "better" than the Dawgs... but now, not so much

You are banged up though... and you will heal before the 29th

We will still kick your a** though ;)

Wow

Tennessee loses to Wyoming. 13-7. It has been one incredible year for the Mountain West conference.

P-Worm

The Vols are the dregs of the SEC this year... dead last
The MWC has had a good year, but this is hardly a signature win with their disenfranchised coach and the program in disarray

Texas Tech seems to have things under control with oSu. Their game against OU is going to be a war. OU put up 66 on A&M before the close of the 3rd today.

Yes, but Wyoming is just about dead last in the Mountain West as well.

USC has a monster defense. Some crazy athletes on that unit.

They'd be beating Cal pretty easily if it weren't for the dumb penalties, though.

Yeah but A&M is really really bad this year.

Tech at OU is going to be an excellent game. I am still going to call that Tech will win, but it will be close. I also think that OSU vs OU will be a pretty good game, depending on if OSU shows up or if they play like tonight. If they play like tonight, OU will beat the tar out of them. Especially since it will be the week after Tech beats OU! :D

Oh yeah - A&M is horrible. But OU seems to be on a mission. I think they'll take Tech down. We'll see!

But regardless, it's 8:06pm and:

OU STILL SUCKS!

TTU 56 OU 20

Complete domination by Tech. Only a few mistakes, ones that will need to be corrected before 2 weeks. I dont think Alabama and Tech will switch places tomorrow, but they were really close last week and Tech had a much better game today then Alabama. OSU was #9 and LSU was #15 helps Tech too. Who knows, maybe tomorrow we will see Texas Tech at #1 for the first time ever? They did get to 10-0 for the first time since 1938...

After watching Alabama beat LSU earlier and then watching tonight's game, Texas Tech is the #1 team in the country right now without a doubt in my opinion. Whoever wins in Norman in two weeks will almost certainly go to the BCS title game and it likely should be against whoever ends up as the SEC champion. A Texas Tech vs Texas rematch would be a tremendous title game too, but it'll never happen.

Yeah, as much as it makes me want to puke to admit it, I think you're right.

Just got back from the Coliseum. Our defense is ridiculous, although there was one penalty on Brian Cushing (our linebacker, wears #10) that was clearly roughing the passer. Besides that we created two turnovers that were called back on dumb ticky tack rules.

But anyway, the defense is looking incredible, but there is something wrong with our offense. We're just not looking that good. Fumbles by Joe McKnight (who is crazy talented) combined with Sanchez not having the accuracy you'd like to see is not a good trend. Luckily, we only have to score one more than the other team has (which is not much lately).

Congrats to tech, nice win. I was hoping for Bama and Penal State to lose, and we got one of them. We'll see how it all shakes out.

I'd love to see USC play Tech in the title game. I think USC is the best one loss team in the country right now. We'll see. I still think Tech will lose to OU, but it'd be nice to see their offense try and move the ball against your D.

I disagree about USC being the best one loss team. Who I would put ahead of them:

1.) Texas - 4th in BCS, lost on road on last second TD to current BCS #2.
2.) Oklahoma - 6th in BCS, lost at neutral site to current BCS #4.
3.) Florida - 5th in BCS, lost to Mississippi by 1 point
Then I would put in USC, who lost to Oregon St. by 6 points.

I would argue that either the Big 12 or SEC is heads above the PAC10.
Coming into this weekend, the SEC had 4 teams in the top 20, with 2 in the top 10. The Big 12 had 5 teams in the top 20, with 4 in the top 10. The PAC10 had 2 in the top 20, with 1 in the top 10.

I think USC is good, just not the best one loss team .... based on schedule, loss, and conference strength.

Although this is the exact reason that we need a damn playoff already instead of endless arguments. Let them decide it on the field.

Oh man, I completely agree about a playoff. My thoughts about USC are purely instinct. You're right on paper. And believe me, nobody's a bigger Longhorn than I am - it pains me to think that USC is a better team. It's just what my gut is saying. I'm pretty pissed at our defense right now. :)

You'd be right, but that's not our (USC's) fault.

The SEC, while good, is vastly overrated. Put plainly, we've beaten everyone they've thrown at us in the last six years. Further, we TRY to get games against LSU and such, and they refuse to play us. They'd rather play some cupcakes before conference play starts so they can all position themselves as "amazing teams who beat up on each other." While they do beat up on each other, perhaps one of them would like to step up to the challenge of actually playing USC. I mean, after all, we are always overrated in their eyes...

I agree. If anyone watched the SC game, we had some guys in the front row painted with "PLAYOFFS" written across their chest. I thought that was pretty cool.

I like your gut, and I am inclined to agree with you. In my opinion, our defense is just too good to pass over. As much as we're struggling on offense now, we HAVE the players to be an offensive powerhouse. Until that happens though, our defense is flat out paying amazingly well.

I'm just begging the BCS: PLEASE don't make us play Ohio St. again. It's a lose-lose for us. Give us a GOOD team. C'mon, pick Florida. Pick Texas. We want to play a big game.

As it stands right now, Bama/Tech in the NCG. But I think USC can make a strong case for the best one loss team. Sure, we lost to a substandard opponent. Sure, the PAC-10 is weak this year, but I think we could take most everyone out there in the country.

As they say, defense wins championships. I'd love to see your D play against Tech. This is turning out to be an interesting season. I'd love to see USC in a position to prove itself.

I hope you realize that I give you crap only because a little humility is a good thing. I have a lot of respect for USC as a school, and its team. If you want to call me out personally, send me a PM. I'll tell you whatever you want to know. I don't have anything to hide. :)

So many good games today and I didn't get to see any of them!

I flew to NYC today so I was in the air for some of the games, but I did happen to catch the OT of the 'Bama/LSU game from the sidewalk in front of a bar in Manhattan.

Poor Penn State. A part of me feels bad for them because I wanted to see Paterno go out with a perfect season. I never believed they would be in the title game, but a perfect season would have still been nice.

I still say Texas Tech loses to Oklahoma. That will be a great game.

I don't follow football like a hawk, but I'm interested in how you guys are doing this year. I became a quasi Boise State fan after that legendary Statue of Liberty game (I have the whole game saved on my computer). How's Boise State holding up?

P-Worm

Boise is solid this year, but they definitely have their problems. The defense is the star this year, whereas in the past it's always been the high-scoring offense. Our passing game is much more involved with our outstanding redshirt freshman at the helm, but I would feel more comfortable if our O-line could help get our running game going.

My biggest concern for Boise is with penalties. I wasn't at the game today (obviously), but apparently they had over 100 yards of penalties AGAIN! This is why I'm scared of Boise going to a BCS game. If the young kids can't hold it together at home against a bottom-feeder in the WAC, how can we expect them to stay disciplined against a top-ten team?

The team is just so young. This was supposed to be a rebuilding year. They are going to be unstoppable in the coming years. :)

What a great freaking game......

Roll Tide Roll.....

That was close. Like I said, we have trouble against LSU and Auburn......... Come on Bama!!!

Now that I'm back from my nerdfest...actually I just got in a few minutes ago.
I was able to catch bits and pieces of the game by ducking into a pizza shop two doors down from where I was doing my thing between breaks. I don't know what pitch black/eyes not necessary cave those referees came from, but they need to be sent back there. So many bad calls just in the parts I saw, but a win is a win is a win. It could have been worse and almost was.
