.....I am betting we see ZERO non-BCS schools in the BCS Bowls this year, not 2

With all due respect MacDawg, I think the BCS officials feel differently. Last night just before the Utah v TCU game, they announced on the big screen that there were representatives from the Orange Bowl, Sugar Bowl and Fiesta Bowl present to observe this game. As well as 3 or 4 other lesser bowls to scout out the loser.

I think there's a chance that we may have two BCS busters this year, and that will be U of U and BSU.

I just hope they don't make us play each other if we both get in. We got screwed on the opponent the first time (Pitt), we won't stand for it this time.

I beg to differ with Evilgeek, it was an amazing game. I don't have a voice left after that one.

You're absolutely right, I'm sure it was an electric atmosphere. A come-from-behind win is always awesome, especially at home! :)

Utah remained calm and took care of business, and that's what a good team does. But what took some of the spark away for me was how many mistakes TCU made. It was just pathetic. Like I said, they lost that game.

TCU should have had 22 points, but they squandered FOUR field goals. Twice their QB ran BACKWARDS for 12+ yards to take them out of field goal range, and then they missed two more chip shots. And let's not even get in to the massive amounts of penalties they had.

I just don't like games like that, even if it's my team that comes out on top. Boise had several stupid penalties against New Mexico State, but thankfully NMS is bad enough that it didn't matter and we still blew 'em out 49-0. But if we had played a good team there's no way we would have won that game.

Bottom line, Utah was outmatched by TCU but more important than stats is the fact that they remained calm and took care of business when they had the opportunity. That's more than can be said of TCU.

EDIT: I'm not trying to minimize Utah's accomplishment, but with so many bowl reps there it would have been better to have a clean victory.

Good post. I agree on many respects. When I left the game, I found myself feeling that Utah didn't win the game, but TCU's kicker lost the game. But it makes me wonder, how good is TCU's kicker considered? There were a few times in the game that I felt they were in field goal range but decided to punt the ball instead. Maybe I'm just spoiled because Utah has Sakoda and he can make a freaking 45 yard field goal like clockwork.

The more I think about it, the more I'm impressed that Utah stopped the touchdown. If TCU had a better field goal kicker, Utah would have had to be really in the game. But the fact that they didn't meant that Utah could focus completely on stopping a run in the endzone and worry less about small gains.

If you heard or read the interview with Coach Patterson before the game, he believes that his kicker is as good, or at least nearly as good as Louie Sakoda. I'm here to tell you, there is no kicker in the entire College Football system who is anywhere near as good as Sakoda. He's the most clutch player in Utah history, and there is not one Utah coach, player or fan who ever doubts his ability to net us 3 points when needed, as long as he's inside 45 yards, it's going in. Last night he made a freaking 49 yard field goal, which sailed 7 or 8 feet over the bottom of the goal post and still hit the net, it could have just as easily been a 54 yarder and still gone in.

I think it's great to see a kicker get the recognition he deserves, but Sakoda's also a senior and needs to perform like that in order to go to the next level.

Evans on the other hand is a freshman, and he's never been on a bigger stage than last night. Unfortunately for TCU he crumbled under the pressure, but I'm sure he'll pick himself back up again and in three years' time he will have learned some hard lessons and be a great clutch performer.

Sakoda's a great kicker and should definitely be picked up in the draft.

How is his backup? Will he be able to fill the "royal" shoes?

We shall see... Bowl officials love to travel and watch games :)
There could be one... and there is a better possibility of that now... but I would say definitely not two
It is more likely zero than two in my opinion (and that is all it is)

But after Hawaii last year, I'm not sure the appetite will be there
The polls can be manipulated... we all know that

If (when) a non-BCS team goes they will HAVE to win this year, otherwise the road is just going to get more and more difficult in the future to get any sort of respect.

This is why I'm worried about Boise going. We're the youngest team in the top 25, let alone the top 10. I'm worried that our inexperience will show if we go to the BCS.

I don't follow football like a hawk, but I'm interested in how you guys are doing this year. I became a quasi Boise State fan after that legendary Statue of Liberty game (I have the whole game saved on my computer). How's Boise State holding up?

Just thought I'd update everyone on USC, because I know you all wanted so desperately to hear about us again. Our game against top 25 Cal is the biggest game left on our schedule. It's a must win, and if we lose we will not go to a BCS bowl game for the first time in 7 years. We still need Oregon State to lose a game, but they have a tough 3 games coming up, so we're confident that if we just close out the season the right way things will work themselves out.

The game is at 5 and I'll be going at around 130 to get in line. Not as early as usual (for the Ohio St. game I got there at 9 am for a 5pm kickoff), but I'll still get some great seats on the 30 yard line.

Fight on.

Good luck Badandy and enjoy the game!
You should roll over Cal, but strange things have been known to happen

Should be a wild finish to the end of the year again
Not sure it can top last year, but who knows?!?

Yeah, I think USC will smack Cal around. We'll see - stranger things have happened!

1. Penn State
2. Texas
3. Alabama
4. Florida
5. Texas Tech
6. Oklahoma State
7. Oklahoma
8. USC
9. Boise State
10 OSU
11 LSU
12. Utah

I don't care what yea say this is how it is going to be!!

Change your location to the Bizarro World ;)
This only happens in a parallel universe

Tennessee trailing Wyoming (3-6) 13-0 in the 2nd quarter

There is a program in disarray

And Georgia Tech trailing North Carolina 21-0 mid way through the 4th
This was Tech's chance to seize the day

Penn State goes down 24-23 to Iowa

Bama is in trouble... tied 21 21 with 6 minutes 2 minutes 1 minute & 23 seconds 53 seconds left
But Bama is driving for the game winning field goal
LSU has no QB... no offense

The door is *still* open now to a multitude of 1 loss teams

WOW
The 29 yard field goal is blocked... overtime

AMAZING

LSU throws a pick
Bama scores

Game over

That was close.

Dodged the proverbial bullet... that you did

Penn State was not quite so lucky

There are others that need to pay attention tonight ;)

My Dawgs are another story :(
We looked awful and did not deserve to win

Our D Coordinator, Willie Martinez needs to go
Unfortunately Richt is loyal to "his guys"

Our season has been disappointing, even with the injuries we have
We will have to step it up against Auburn and Tech (both are big rivalry games)

This should be your year in the Iron Bowl
But don't overlook Mississippi State
They always play you tough... seriously

And then... you need to kick some Gator tail... PLEASE!

I don't know about you, but I pretty much hate any team that comes out of Florida. Don't know why I do, but I do.

For me... it is ORANGE... any shade...

Florida
Auburn
Clemson
Tennessee

You name it... if it is orange, you can count on it... I'm ag'in' it

Or a Tiger :)

Auburn
Clemson
LSU

Love your list... mine looks pretty much the same, except I have to add a Trojan in there.... :)
