hampton gets hurt minutes before he's supposed to go on, and we lose another one run game 4-3. what a bad night for us all around. teixeria and kotsay are slowly becoming dead weight, chipper and diaz are the only ones i trust on offense, and i'm not liking our offense dropping one run games and not showing up when they need to.

to make things worse, the mets are going to destroy us starting tomorrow night. yikes.

not good. i can't believe hampton scratched. i thought he was like the most athletic guy on the team (i guess not anymore).

well you can count on number 7 in the clutch

guess where hampton's going

that's right kiddies, hampton is yet again, headed to the disabled list. say hi to pedro and dl over there. i wished this happened during the start instead of right before, at least he gets a few innings in...oh well, his return is delayed AGAIN and we're wondering if he's made of glass.

this is pretty much like if you got tickets to a hyped up sold out (insert famous musician/band here) show that you knew for months, and you find out 10 minutes before showtime, he can't go on and the show is cancelled. so annoying.

As an A's fan, I'd love to be able to point and laugh about Kotsay, but, uh, we have our own center field issues to deal with, so I can't. Like platooning center fielders that are 4th outfielders at best. Alas, the fun of a rebuilding team.

I'm sorry but if Mike Hampton is what people get hyped up for today, that's pretty ridiculous. He is just like Pedro, he's never going to return to form. Sure, if he's your favorite player, you want to see him, but he can't be seen as your main attraction anymore.

i know he's not our ace, but we've been looking forward to this day for nearly 3 years, and he doesn't even go on, unlike pedro who pitched for a little bit before having to leave. plus, with no hampton, it means we'll have to depend on the likes of james and reyes (who suck). we weren't expecting a dominant hampton, just one that pitches. and he isn't my boy, just sick of the injuries.

we'll probably get swept by the mets now. :(

The Mets have problems of their own, they have a shaky 4 and 5 spot in the rotation.

lmao

As if Thursday’s hawk attack at Fenway Park weren’t bizarre enough, how’s this for synergy?

The victim’s name: A-Rod.

As in Alexa Rodriguez.

The Memorial Boulevard Middle School student, who was taking a tour of the park with her class, also happens to be 13, which just also happens to be Alex Rodriguez’s number with the Yankees. (Click here to see photos of the Hawk attack)

It's up for debate as to which A-Rod receives a ruder welcome at Fenway this season.

lmao, Ian Kennedy got rocked yesterday

Code:
Pitchers	IP	H	R	ER	BB	SO	HR	PC-ST	ERA
I Kennedy	2.1	4	6	6	4	2	0	70-32	23.14

How long can this last, The Rays and O's tied for first in the AL east.

And KC in the central. Aren't the early standings great? The fans of these clubs had better enjoy the view while they can.

Kuroda's debut last night was amazing. Seven innings, three hits, one run, four Ks and no walks. I think he made only about 60 pitches, but Torre lifted him anyway. I know he won't be able to perform like that every day, but I believe the Dodgers may have signed a real winner.

And how was that Red Sox win....oh wait Wakefield was pitching.

Ian got some questionable calls last night, a few pitches should have gone as strikes, the bigger problem was ****ing Farnsworth.

When hasn't the problem been Farnsworth? He can't handle it here. Stick back in the NL... that's if anyone would take him.

I still don't understand why they traded Proctor yet kept Farnsworth. What do they expect to get out of him, he can't pitch. He has good velocity but they are right down the middle. I actually predicted last night that the score would be 13 and guess what, he served up a homer. Expect nothing less from ****ing Farnsworth.

Because he couldn't pitch either. Then again that's because Joe Torre burned him out and didn't trust anyone else in the bullpen. And go figure, he's now pitching for Joe Torre again. I think the Dodgers have a better bullpen now then what the Yankees had. I hope he doesn't get burned out again.

Is there any surprise to this? Everyone and their mother knew that was gonna be the case.

no. my mother is still in denial...

yeah. i love the start of the season and all the early surprises. and as an oriole(giants too) fan i will enjoy the next 5-6 hours for sure. there certainly is no joy in SF ...
