yeah. i love the start of the season and all the early surprises. and as an oriole(giants too) fan i will enjoy the next 5-6 hours for sure. there certainly is no joy in SF ...

Well who knows -- hope springs eternal, right. :)

Meanwhile, the local play-by-play of every Yankees and Red Sox game goes on. <sigh>

i hate fox. no baseball all day or all night. most of their announcers suck, especially buck and mccarver and they have too much cross promotion pimping during game action which is really annoying for those that want to watch the game. i don't want to see paris hilton be stupid at a game, i want to see manny be stupid at the game. this is almost as bad as baseball night in america in the 90's.

You have a Braves game on at 4 on Fox. Hey Buck may suck but he is 10 times better then Chip Carrey. If I have to listen to TBS massacre another playoff series.

agreed, chip caray's horrible, he's nothing like his father or grandfather, who were both great in their own ways. chip just rambles on about nothing all the time, blah blah blah, he never stops, and it's annoying. and i saw some of the tbs games, quality is way down compared to the braves games (probably watered it down to get to fox's level). can't listen to either buck or caray.

You can badmouth Fox but realize that they had a big role in how sports is now covered today. They were the first to use scoring graphics that every other network uses now.

i'm not saying fox is all bad, in fact, they used to be great, but they went down the toilet with coverage in recent years.

And how was that Red Sox win....oh wait Wakefield was pitching.

Wakefield pitched fine.. 6IP 6H 3ER is decent. The problem was the bullpen.. Javier Lopez and David Aardsma suck.

Just like today again: Buchholz 5IP 6H 3ER 7K, then Kyle ****ing Snyder, Bryan Corey, and Julian Tavarez come in and give up 6 runs.

doesn't help that the offense hasn't done **** so far this year.

Great thread, great topic. Sorry to be joining in so late.

MLB.TV rules. Go Mets!

O's are in first, Sox in last, how long can this last? Is Tampa really as good as they seem to be at the moment or will their bubble burst in a few weeks. The Blue Jays are going to make things interesting as they swept the Sox. Look to see them causing problems.

Let's get real here..There's a LONG way to go.There will be many teams that are hot in April. All that matters is who heats up at the right time..Last year, the Rockies were just about out of it til after Labor Day then they got hot..I wouldn't count out any team that hangs in there or that is close. No way of telling in April who has the horses...

I think Tampa might be a real threat to a lot of teams this year. Not saying they will win the division but don't underestimate them. They might win just enough games to be a spoiler.

i agree. this team looked decent last year, and now their big stars are entering their prime. i say they make a threat this year and could be a playoff team next year. at least that's one team i can watch this year instead of stinky fish.

I already warned you guys about the Rays. They are going to be a .500 team and will be taking games from everyone in the division.

I think that with what the Rays have in their minors they have a good chance at being a playoff team in the next 2-3 seasons. They definitely beat up on the Yankees this series, but the Yankees aren't going to be near the force they usually are this year. I'll be very surprised if either of them are in the post-season.

Teh Don Ditty is probably right on the money: they'll be a .500 (and probably a little over) team this year.
