****ing Farnsworth finally does something good for the team and he gets a 3 game suspension for it. Lame.

He threw behind him. And why didn't the Ump immediately toss him? He already had 2 jacks.

There was absolutely no reason for Farnsworth to intentionally throw at Manny.

EDIT: Even MANNY said he doesn't deserve the suspension!!
Manny from ESPN.com article said:
"He don't deserve that," Ramírez said, according to the Boston Globe. "He was just protecting his players. You know we hit [Alex Rodriguez] the game before."

He didn't throw at his head. How many times have the Yankees been hit by pitches and nothing ever happens. Arod was hit the night before and nothing. Then Farnsworth doesn't even hit him and didn't even get thrown out of the game and now he gets 3 games? Even Manny says the suspension is stupid. The Red Sox hit Arod and Jeter practically every chance they get and I don't see any fines.

Tell me the last time Jeter or Arod was hit/thrown at near the head. There is a right and a wrong way to do things, and you don't throw at people's heads. Do you really think Manny is going to say he should be suspended, and give the Yankee's pen more ammo? And your defending the guy you call "****ing Farnsworth"?

I'm sure the ball slipped out of Jaba the Reliever's hand both times last year too.

So you are defending every time the Red Sox throw at Arod and Jeter? So you admit that they are intentional?

In other news, you can truly call Yankee Stadium a cathedral today.

People get thrown at in baseball all the time. Its a long standing tradition. As long as your not throwing at people's heads, I have no problem with it. The at-bat before, you could see Manny was on his heels, expecting to get thrown at cause he was destroying the Yankees.

Farnsworth was throwing at him, just like Joba the Reliever was head hunting Youk on consecutive pitches last year. Regardless of what you think, MLB thought he was head hunting and he was suspended.

Great comeback win today for the Sox.. down 5-0 after 6 innings to come back and get the 6-5 win was good.. Sox have won 4 in a row and 8 of the last 9.. guess Japan didn't affect them much.

Like father like son.

Yankees co-chairman Hank Steinbrenner, like his father George, has never been one to mince words. When it comes to where pitcher Joba Chamberlain should be -- the bullpen or the starting rotation -- the younger Steinbrenner's expectations are crystal clear.

"I want him as a starter and so does everyone else, including him, and that is what we are working toward and we need him there now," Steinbrenner told the New York Times. "There is no question about it, you don't have a guy with a 100-mile-per-hour fastball and keep him as a setup guy. You just don't do that. You have to be an idiot to do that."

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman apparently disagrees.

"Joba's staying in the bullpen right now," Cashman told Newsday on Monday. "That's where we're at. [Putting him in the rotation is] not something that's going to happen here early on, and [Hank] knows that. We've talked about it. I don't know what set him off."

Cashman said it's too early to make any drastic changes.

"If you had bet on the kids doing great out of the gate, it wouldn't necessarily be a safe bet, but we're betting on them in the long-term, not necessarily in the short term," Cashman told Newsday. "We're certainly not playing up to our capabilities after 20 games ... we made our decisions [in the off-season] and our season is now under way. It's way too early to start making judgments on anything."

FYI: PBS is airing a new documentary on Roberto Clemente tonight. Look for the "American Experience" in your local listings.

girardi: "no candy for my team"

This is a photograph of an ice cream freezer outside the visitors clubhouse at Camden Yards wrapped up in a blanket so nobody will steal the treats inside.

Why is it outside the visitors clubhouse?

Because Joe Girardi wants it that way. The Yankees contacted the visiting clubhouse manager of every stadium where they play and asked that the candy and ice cream be removed before the team comes to town.

All clubhouses have an assortment of candy, gum, sunflower seeds, ice cream and other goodies. Personally, it never has made sense to me. Why would you provide professional athletes with junk food?

The players, of course, aren’t too pleased. They’re used to M&Ms and Snickers bars.

The clubhouse in Tampa Bay replaced all the candy with nuts, dried fruit and granola. It was hilarious to watch as guys smuggled in candy bars and ate them furtively at their lockers.

girardi was pretty strict in florida, putting in his own rule of no facial hair with the marlins (from the yankees). after he was fired, the players started growing their facial hair in rebellion.

Mike and the Mad Dog were talking about this last week and they said that ESPN entrapped him with that interview. Sleaze reporting.

Jacoby bringing the power tonight.. 2 home runs

Paps brought it too, struck out Vlad on a 100mph fastball in the 9th.

6 wins in a row and 9 of the last 10. :D

Is it still entrapment if it's true?
ESPN knew he would walk out on the interview, so it kind of is a trap. It was just a ratings grab. I didn't see the interview but from what I saw of the promo it was a set up. They were not after a legit interview just to make him look bad. How many other players have lied about their age.

Notice that ESPN never did a story where they interviewed Bonds last year and asked him about steroids. They won't go after the stars that will give them good press but once they have no use for them they pound.

orioles in 2nd.... still!?!?!

giants not in last!?!? .... yet.

chisox playing well!?!?

angels in 1st!?!?

i'm actually enjoying this season so far...

Randy again tonight ...

I wonder if the team will finally step up and not look like a three stooges routine behind him tonight.

Though it is sort of strange to see DBacks pitchers being sent in as pinch hitters these days, and not for the bunt either.

LOS ANGELES -- Plate umpire Kerwin Danley was taken off the field in an ambulance after he was struck on the jaw by Brad Penny's fastball that Dodgers catcher Russell Martin missed in the fourth inning Saturday night.

The game was delayed for 18 minutes, with Danley laying nearly motionless behind home plate before being put on a stretcher and loaded into the ambulance.

Dodgers spokesman Josh Rawitch said Danley lost consciousness briefly, but was conscious and coherent when he was placed into the ambulance.

Dodgers medical personnel accompanied him on the ride to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he was taken for precautionary reasons.

Crew members Brian Runge and Greg Gibson rushed to his side while first-base ump Angel Campos hustled back into the dressing room to put on the gear to work home plate.

Runge held Danley's left hand and patted him on the chest while they waited for the ambulance, and the crowd applauded the umpire as he was placed into the vehicle.

The video board in left field showed Danley, the crew chief, being driven out the center-field gate, with the words "Our best wishes to umpire Kerwin Danley" at the bottom of the screen.

A Los Angeles native, Danley has been a big league umpire since 1998. He has worked in four division series, the 2007 AL championship series and the 2007 All-Star game.
