It helps when you only start Schilling and Johnson. :p

Regardless, an absolutely fantastic series.

The Red Sox WS wasn't very memorable. The collapse/comeback was the most hated/memorable.

Yeah, as a red sox fan, I'll always remember 2004 and 2007 for the great ALCS battles against the Yankees and Cleveland respectively. (I have erased the admittedly exciting 2003 ALCS from my memory).

I contend that this past World Series would've been absolutely filthy if the Rockies didn't have an 8 game lay off.

^That and the fact you can't win on the road.

exactly. but lately, it's like we can't win at all.

I have always thought the Braves were the most over rated team. Win the division every year and only what 1 world series title.

we're not that overrated. it takes alot of something to win 14 straight division titles, but yes, we've underachieved come crunch time.

Woah woah... garbage? Come on...

the mets have a bunch of problems too, like the coaching situation and old has beens on the team.

I agree with the second part but still don't think Willie is a problem, certainly not the problem.

But I came back to succumb to the 'garbage' comment, at least over this past week. Drop 5 in a row, starting that slide by losing all of the first three 1-2, and tonight Pelfrey pitches 8 full shut-out innings, the Mets score 3 on Brandon Webb, and then Wagner gives up a 3 run homer (the same thing he did his last save attempt).

Yay... extra innings...

EDIT/ADDITION: and then Feliciano opens the 10th by walking a .176 hitter on 4 pitches.

Well, the Cubs are just smacking ya around right now. 7-0 Bot 6.

Not pretty.

The Mess have a chemistry problem it seems. Or as my friend, who's a Mess fan, says it's a language barrier. They shouldn't be this bad.

The Yanks also have some problems, notably in the pitching/bullpen department. At least we're over .500 ATM.

Where does the surprise part come in?

I'm not surprised, it's just at a really bad time. Put together such a great game/story to break this five game streak only to be given away by someone who was all but our MVP a week ago, and only after they pulled Pelfrey in the ninth (lead off hit) who had an 8k night (two in the 8th inning).

11th now.

anyone can beat the braves around now, it seems. demoralized bunch of losers.

but on the muts, there seems to be two cliques on the team, the white guys and the hispanic guys (most of them don't speak english, why, that's another story). another one is your terrible pitching...

OUch, Mets just blew a 3 run lead in the 9th

billy wagner seems to do this alot (as in blow it).

Well, at least Chipper aka Larry is batting over .400. Or has he fell off the face of the earth.

Like I said, language barriers.

Maybe he will realize that he is not the sandman.

My nickname for him is Billy Blownsaves.

Blech. I hate the Post and Daily News. Rubbish papers. Though the Post has some amusing headlines.

Same. The only thing they were good for is chuckling at the headlines ... which you can conveniently read easily from the other side of the subway when someone else is reading through.

Still read the Times every day. They have interesting articles on the Yankees and Mets but to read about games you need to go elsewhere since their sports section goes to print so early. The Yankees and Mets blogs online are good, too.

13th inning.

Ugh... not agin.

Mets up 2. Top 9. Enter Billy Blownsaves (thanks Teh Don Ditty).

Walk.
Single.
RBI Double.
4 pitch walk.

... and the bases are juiced with no outs in a game the Mets now only hold a 1 run lead.

:D Billy Blownsaves to the rescue!

4-4 Top 9, 2 outs. 1st and 3rd

His last 3 save attempts he has 3 blown saves, all multi-run leads given up (two 3 runs and today giving up 2).

Mets have the based loaded with 2 out in the bottom half, though. Easley is set up to be the hero, again.

EDIT: or let's go to extra innings... again.
