Barry Bonds to the Rays? Rumors around that the Rays might want him.

did anyone hear dick vitale ranting about signing him? lol.

bonds is club house poison and a side show to boot! you'll put fanny's in the seats but at what price? as a lifelong S.F. Giants i can tell you honestly the glow will be gone in about one month... baseball won't be the focus in tampa for an entire season or however long his contract lasts.

The irony is that Bonds is the biggest reason that the Giants don't play in the Tampa metro area today. For him to go play there would be kind of funny.

Seems unlikely that he would though. He doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who would want to hang on with whatever team will help carry his baggage.

true.. and no irony is ever lost on me when dealing with mr. bonds...

Bonds says he wants to play this year, what if the Rays are the only team that make an offer. Will he sit out the season or swallow his pride and take the money. He is not a person to turn down money.

is it a home run friendly park? money and 'taters are what he thrives on...
Well it is a dome, so I guess it is HR friendly.

Left Field - 315 ft
Left-Center - 370 ft
Center Field - 404 ft
Right-Center - 370 ft
Right Field - 322 ft
Backstop - 50 ft

His pride is way too big to swallow. At least, his price for it will be too big for the Rays to swallow, I predict. At his age, it's not called "sitting out the season," it's called "retirement."

Retire, Barry. Please, retire!

lol.. i don't think a ball hit over the back stop is considered a home run...
but i get what yer saying... right field 322...

Yay, lucky us, Just what I want, Chip Carey not knowing anything about the teams doing the games. I can't wait for the ALCS this year. yawn.

Unless there has been a change I don't see the Sunday games as exclusive to TBS. YES has the same game on April 27.

chip caray sucks. he's nowhere near his dad and gramps, who i like, especially for their jokes. he chirps and chatters all the time. and his voice is just annoying. they kept pushing him during braves games last year, as he was tbs' answer to joe buck, who sucks too. i prefer matty v of the padres to buck and caray.

and the tbs games are non-exclusive. you'll still see the game on yes (as tbs will blackout the game for local markets, as the games will still air on local stations).

It seems to be pretty universal that the children of famous broadcasters become lousy broadcasters. I would take issue with the idea that the elder Carays were worth listening to though. I suppose if you're entertained by a drunken homer who calls a different game than the one he's at, then Harry Caray was your guy. I remember watching the Dodgers play the Braves on TBS. Skip Caray reacted excitedly to a long fly ball that was caught by a Dodger outfielder at the wall. In the next inning, Piazza clobbered one over the right field wall and Skip noticed it after the fact, as he was busy chattering about something else. The guy sounds like a kazoo and bores me to tears.

Then again, maybe I just have a prejudice against grown men who go by "Skip" or "Chip".

And jocks. Even the few who don't drone on and on in a monotone are usually way too interested in talking about the game entirely in terms of the position they played back in the day. Virtually all of the sportscasters suffer from the same paralysis of analysis. Instead of calling the game straight, they call the game like so many political pundits, predicting, second-guessing and analyzing instead of describing. On the days when I can't listen to Vin Scully, I often mute the sound. Silence is far more enlightening than most of what these guys have to say.

"It's a fly ball deep to left center back, back, back, and the shortstop gloves it safely just behind 2nd base..." - harry carey

sounds like trupiano..

"swing and a drive... WAAAAAAAAY BACK WAAAAAAAY BACK.. caught in right center field."

Scott Spiezio Cut by Cardinals

IRVINE, Calif. (AP)—Utilityman Scott Spiezio was cut by the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday, released after police issued a six-count warrant for his arrest following a December car crash.

the cardinals dropped him quick, especially with all the dui problems they had in the past year. man, this man has been plagued with problems as of late. first the drugs, now this, what a shame. is this also common with rockers, as he was in a band for a while.

a few things...

GO WHITE SOX

-chip sucks
-harry, as mumbling bumbling as he was he was fun to listen to, they just replayed his last game with the cubs from 10 years ago the other day and it was kind of cool to hear him call a game again, (sandberg's last home game)
-tim mccarver is horrible, and i dont like joe buck either
-im up for a yahoo league.
-i dont know how the white sox are going to be this year, there are alot of questions about some of their non-pickups this offseason, they didnt get any of the big name free agents they went after. its going to be a year where they are really good, 95+wins or really bad 70ish wins. they will be able to compete with detroit, and now that johan is gone from minn they should win the 2-3 games that he would have pitched if he was still there. for some reason the sox couldnt beat him.
