Make that 4 solo HRs

i'm very disappointed in kaz this season. he was my fav ray prior to this season, but he has to pick it up and i think he shouldn't pitch game one. leave that to garza or sheilds, who have both pitched one hitters this year. but i don't blame the rays for losing, they only got 4 hours of sleep last night due to the wacky schedule. rays can still clinch tonight if the sox lose, but it's not as fun.

talking about clinching, the dodgers just won the nl west, arizona just lost to the cardinals 3-12, knocking them out of the playoffs.

Yup, I was following that one on Gameday. It was actually close until the final innings.

Looks like I get to go to a party tonight with 53,000 of my closest friends. :D

Congrats! Enjoy it and take lots of pictures! It's always great to celebrate that at home..Did you get your playoff tickets?

yovanni gallardo back on the mound tonight. this is how desperate the brewers pitching situation is right now. Hopefully he can pitch 5 solid.

Thanks, it was a fun evening even if the Dodgers lost (they played the bench mostly). On to... wherever!

And yes, I have games 3 & 4.

That was a pretty entertaining game, even without all the regulars.

One bad call for each team: Pierre was safe when stealing second. And Peavy's last pitch to Ethier in that big inning was right down the middle and it was called a ball. Peavy actually yelled at the umpire and he was right. I know they don't call the high strike anymore, but it was belt high. Amazing.

I actually feel pretty good going into the playoffs. The Dodgers have been playing as well as anyone in baseball for the last month. They have the lowest ERA in the majors, especially in the last few weeks. And Torre is an old hat when it comes to juggling rotations and lineups in the postseason. I think it goes without saying that I'd rather face the Mets or Brewers than the Cubs.

I couldn't tell from my seats whether Pierre was safe, but I was surprised when he was called out. He sure didn't look very happy about it. The team throwing the bucket of balls into the crowd before the game was pretty cool, though none came my way. Somebody managed to get one into the upper deck. Did you see who that was?

I'd prefer to see the Dodgers return to the scene of the 2006 crime in New York. Let somebody else deal with the Cubs in the first round.

One or two worries: Saito did not look sharp at all in his inning of work and Broxton not much better. It would sure help to have both of these guys in tune for the playoffs. Furcal actually looked pretty good for a guy who hasn't played in nearly five months. Even though he didn't get on base, he got some wood on the ball. Kent, amazingly enough, looks good to go.

To be sure, the call was easier to see in slo-mo. But to me it was close enough in real time that it was a "tie-goes-to-the-runner" situation. (Yes, I know that's not really in the rules.) I watched the game on TV and missed the ball-launching. Whomever it was, hopefully they didn't strain themselves like Duke Snider at the Coliseum back in the day.

I'd like to see Torre put both Kent, Saito, and Furcal out there all weekend to see what they've got. The way the rest of the team has been hitting, they have to prove themselves. I also really like that their unknown opponent might not be able to set their rotation and could even require a tiebreaker on Monday or delayed by rain.

Based on last night's seemingly endless platoon, I'd say that's Joe's plan. It's great that the Dodgers will have the weekend to decompress but one hopes not too much. For sure they will be tanned, ready and rested. Whether that's entirely a good thing remains to be seen.

it's that time of year again in flushing...toliet time for the mets. johan is going tomorrow, and if they lose, their season could be headed straight down a toilet, along with shea this weekend.

I can either start Santana (who threw a career high # of pitches last outing, and has never pitched on 3 days rest before. Plus the Fish would love to be the spoiler again) today, or Jesse Litsch (Orioles have lost their last 10) tomorrow.
I'm torn.

today is going to be fun (weather permitting) seeing the mets get eliminated again by the marlins on tv at the toilet in flushing. i want to see johan blow it in the type of game they got him for and see shea close out with a flush!

btw, the rays won the al east last night, putting them in the worst to first like the braves were in 1991. i sure hope they win it all though.

Two games left. Twins got Perkins going this afternoon against Gil Meche. Advantage: Royals. Perkins is JUNK. I'm still not feeling so good about a Twins division crown. But I'm rootin'!!
