I've been a Minnesota Twins fan since forever, but I have been a fan of the Rays too since about 2004 when their farm system started to look good with the likes of Baldelli, Kazmir, etc. During the 2007 season I definitely saw and said on the official MLB forums that the Devil... I mean... Rays had a championship team and I got laughed at.

Everyone knew the Rays were building a good team, I don't think anyone thought it would happen this soon though.

How about that Giants/Dodgers game? No runs until the 11th. Pretty glad I picked up Brian Wilson. Who would have imained the Giants would even get 40 save opportunities, never mind have a pitcher who could get that many saves.

they'll probably win a meaningless world series too...

Not if the Cubs are in it.

The Rays would still win, but it wouldn't quite be meaningless. :p

P.S. GO BIRDS!! :D

And now for the final game ever.:(

Won't it be so poetic that the final game in Yankee Stadium will clinch the Yankees missing the playoffs.....too bad Baltimore is horrible and the odds are the Yankees will win tonight.

BTW, Willie's slide into 2nd base during the intro's was awesome!

It is weird but it feels like they just won the world series. The grand finally at the stadium and for the first time John Miller is quite.:p I have always said that the day the stadium closes will be a sad day and I am shedding a few tears right now.

It is rather sad that this was it. It's truly an awe inspiring sight to see all the fans and players still there.

See everyone in The New Cathedral™

Gonna miss the old lady but all good things must come to an end although the memories will remain.

Yankee Stadium 2 will be just as grand and new memories will begin.:)

It def. is sad. I wish damon got the last home run to add another stick in the red sox/yankee drama. :p
But it will be sad. I went to yesterday's game and it was weird that I won't return there next season. But the new stadium will be sick!

i'll give you that. and i don't see them(rays) losing. even as a hater i've got to admit they are good.

As much as I hate the Yankees, I would've like to have seen one game at Yankee Stadium. :(
