Liverpool is selling off Yossi Benayoun to Dynamo Moscow!? Not a good move unless the money situation truly is dire over at Anfield.

Bad idea - Benayoun has been arguably the best outfield player on the squad behind Gerrard and Torres, and has shown more consistent form than either over the course of this season. Unless they replace him with an equivalent or better player it's just more misery.

EDIT: ****. I really wanted to see United lose this one.

What a finish at OT! Rooney atones for missing a sitter earlier in the second half by burying the winning header in stoppage time.

That should keep the noisy neighbors quite a while longer. :D

Wow. Everton really did come through today. 2-0, Cahill scores again, Donovan gets his first and - most welcome of all - Arteta make his first appearance in 11 months. A good day.

So, has the season finally turned for the better, or is this just to get our hopes up...?

Actually, I fear the latter, after our next game away at Wigan we're going up against Liverpool (a), Chelsea (h), Man Utd (h) and Tottenham (a) before we host Hull the first week in March. February can be a nasty month, and by the time Hull come to town it could very well be a 6 point match to avoid relegation, yet again... :(

That's really bad news :( He's been having a great first season, and he's in my FF team

I'm hearing a nasty rumour that Vermaelen may have broken his leg against Villa...

Thomas Vermaelen we don't know. There will be an x-ray. He is on crutches and it is a fibula injury. We have to check tomorrow morning if it is just a nerve or a broken bone. Eduardo has a hamstring strain, a small one. But, for Sunday [Manchester United at home], he will be out.

:(

Everton -1
Chelsea -1
Newcastle -1
Man City +1

Yankee on those.

Also got a single on Tevez anytime @ 2/1 & City -1 @ 14/1...

LOADSA MONEY

I also had Everton -1 in my multiple bet, forgot to post it earlier - sorry guys.

Tevez anytime @ 2/1 was a ridiculous bet - like printing your own money.

Slightly tipsy so this won't make sense when I read it tomorrow, sorry guys.

In other news, Leeds are in desperate need of:
a) A striker (David Healy is the rumoured target - looks likely)
b) A defensive midfielder (Don't know who. Derry of Palace would be nice but very unlikely)
c) Some fullbacks. Don't know who. Anyone would be good.

I'm worried about promotion at the moment. Norwich will win the league, no question about it. The only question is about 2nd place. It's a straight fight between Leeds, Swindon, Charlton & Colchester as far as I'm concerned. I think we've got the strongest squad but Leeds are utterly useless under pressure (see Watford PO final, Doncaster PO final, Millwall PO semi, Carlise JPT area final etc). I'm worried but still ok because we've got Grayson at the helm. The finest young manager outside the Premiership.

Result of the night? Blackburn beating Wigan. Hats off to them. Maybe they'll survive the drop after all.

Go Donovan! He looks pretty fit as well. I'm happy to see he's fitting in well in the team and the league in general.

Ugh. My FF squad is decimated for starters, but I'm sure Arsenal supporters are more worried about the real league.

It's actually remarkable the number of times Vermaalen has found the back of the net this season, they're certainly going to miss him. Makes the Sol Campbell deal seem even more timely now.

Is this the time of the season where Arsenal bottle it again. Lost our last match, drew this one, lost a defender...oh dear...

As I mentioned a few posts back, my big concern where Arsenal is concerned is with their defence - and this latest injury isn't going to help matters there at all...

And as for Leeds, as sm says they have shown a tendency in recent years to collapse under pressure. It's been the play-offs that have done for them before, this time though has the FA Cup spotlight and the saga over Beckford's future caused a few players to become distracted? A bit of a test for the manager, methinks.

And with Senderos going on loan just a couple of days earlier, loosing Vermalen must be awful. I actually feel for Arsenal. :(

Now, I guess we'll be seeing quite a lot more of Sol Campbell than initially thought.

I do fear the premiership just became a two-horse race again, which is a bummer because I'd love to see Arsenal at the top again.

I don't mean to sound negative or rude but I get the feeling that all the arsenal fans are beginning to go down the "if it wasn't for injuries, we would have won the EPL" path. I'm afraid even a full strength Arsenal squad in no way means that they would top a much better Chelsea squad.
Another point is, when Chelsea lost their star players and Man Utd were without a defender they stepped up (relative to each's circumstances) so if Arsenal want to show their title winning credentials, now is the time to prove it.

FF - looking for some inside information, is S Hunt worth a punt - how is he playing? Off to Wolves?
He's doing okay, scoring a few goals – always good for a midfielder as they score more for scoring than strikers (in the official Premier League game, at least).

Hull City have a double game week coming up in said game, so with that in mind he may well be worth looking at.

As for the Wolves rumour - they're reckoned to be lining up a final bid for him, we've said he's going nowhere but we'll see how our resolve holds up.

And now Cardiff! It's like the second coming of Christmas already.

I think they're way beyond 846, to be honest. They'll be having to sell 'Mr Portsmouth' next, you could maybe get him in at Elland Road to stand ringing his bell where the fishtank once went.

I think Leeds fans would rather hang him from the East Stand upper tier to be honest...

He's a prize buffoon and no mistake.

Just a little further bit of information following on from the Portsmouth website fiasco – apparently their electronic advertising boards were also out of action the other night, because they haven't paid the company who maintain and run them.

You therefore wonder if the advertisers whose ads weren't shown are going to be wanting their money back as a result... good luck to them as there's clearly no money there.

I don't understand how they can not afford to pay basically everything, but they intend to get some players in on loan? Bizarre.
