Maybe a bit premature on that one.

Gunners may also be decisively kissing their title challenge away...

EDIT:...or not. lol...talk about leaving it late. *sigh*

1-0 to the Arsenal!!!

What a time to get a winning goal! :)

BTW... Man City 4 up after 20 mins @ Burnley...!

Wirelessly posted (SAMSUNG-SGH-A887/A887UCIFA SHP/VPP/R5 NetFront/3.5 SMM-MMS/1.2.0 profile/MIDP-2.1 configuration/CLDC-1.1)

I Chelsea win the title by a small margin over United, all the talk will be about that Drogba goal. The press will buzz about video replay technology again.

Bad day for Brian laws.

It's always a bad day for Brian Laws. :p

Not a good day for us either, and not just the loss - George Boateng was stretchered off into a waiting ambulance after getting a Stoke boot in the face, and it's reckoned he's suffered a fractured cheekbone - if so, he'll be out for a bit. It wasn't a pleasant sight seeing him laid spark out on the turf with his eyes rolled back into his skull, and you know it's never a good sign when the physios of both teams run straight on to help a player.

Another week, another injury.

Hopefully Everton will do a Manchester Cityesque job on West Ham tomorrow and give Sullivan something to really moan about...

Oyyyy. Good thing I didn't get up at 4:30 AM after all. United had a good run through the early part of 2010 but just aren't good enough, especially with some of the injuries taking away crucial depth, no good cover for Rooney, and no rightful heir to Scholes in midfield. I was worried about the midfield situation coming into the season, but the 4-5-1 formation masked those weaknesses for a while. Berbatov can't lead the line alone, especially if he can't get service.

The season's not over and plenty can still happen since Chelsea has some more tough games away from home, but I don't hold out much hope for the league now. We would also be lucky to get past Bayern on Wednesday (I know we just need a 1-0 result, but the way we played the past two matches... Eeek!). I think the squad has achieved about what it's truly capable of this year. We'll see how much of a stomach Sir Alex has for a needed rebuilding, not to mention how much money the Glazers can give him. I hope some young up-and-comers like Tom Cleverly and Corry Evans figure into next season's plans.

Manchester United - Another 'we think we only have to play for 30 minutes' performance. Physically and mentally too slow. Kept waiting until the teammate in plenty of space was closed down before passing. Poor performances from Fletcher, Scholes - some good diagonals, but many weren't - Giggs, Park and Valencia. Credit to the Chelsea fullbacks for keeping the wingers quiet.

Hoping Hargreaves can cover if Fletcher continues to fade.

Berbatov - I'll defend him - the Lampard tackle chance was the only one where I felt it reasonable to ask if he could have done better. He had no service for most of the game. He started dropping deep because of the lack of service, just like Rooney of old - leaving no one in the box. Once and for all - he is not the same type of player as Rooney! He is a partnership player, one up front isn't his game, he is not enough of a 'bully'.

Ferguson - I know he likes 451/433 against top teams/physical teams, but he waited too long to introduce Nani and Macheda. It was clear the existing wingers weren't working, and that Berbatov needed someone up with him.

The Officials - for both teams - just poor.

Against Bayern - need to start fast, slow is no good.

Manchester City - a 'we know we only have to play for 7 minutes' performance.

It's good to see that 'Sheffield Wednesday Time' is still around, currently residing at the Emirates.:)

Darrent Bent giveth and then taketh away.

After that lot it only remains for me to say - Liiiiiiverpool, Liiiiiiverpool. Every straw to be clutched.

Cheers,
OW

I don't know why, but everytime oscillatewidly posts something I hear this "shoosh" sound before he does and the Lost smoke monster clicking sound afterwards..

How many players have been injured at Stoke? I wonder if there is a pattern..

Interestingly Aaron Ramsey spoke today about the tackle on him:

I don't believe he [Shawcross] wanted to break my leg, but I think he wanted to go through both the ball and me - to take me out and make sure I felt the tackle.

He was caught out of position a little, but he could definitely have changed his mind before making the tackle, realising that he wasn't going to get there and so not committing. If I was tackling and I saw that there wasn't a chance of getting to the ball cleanly I wouldn't make the tackle - and I don't think there was a chance of him getting there.

He left me a voicemail and a text message but I just want to concentrate on my recovery for now.

Good, spot on Aaron. He didn't mean to break his leg, but he meant to make him feel the tackle - to "rough him up" So yeah, ignore the thug's text and call, well done :)

Ibrahimovic set to miss Arsenal game through injury.

Yup...is just not a nice place to go. Intentional or not.

I watched Eduardo play today and i dunno...i think he's a shadow of his former self. Some major howlers today. I hope Ramsey doesn't end up the same.

A tackle from a Stoke City player is simply more likely to cause an injury, that's all, simply due to the fact that their feet are wider due to the extra toes the inbred lugs are carrying.

Bigger surface area = greater chance of damage.

How many players have been injured at Stoke? I wonder if there is a pattern.
As I've said before, they've tried bullying us for years – long before we both got into the Premier League, and with great effect it has to be said – but I can't recall any other bad injuries over recent seasons. In fact, Arsenal have nobbled us more than them in recent times. ;)

Stoke City absolutely loathe us. I consider them excellent judges of character. :D

Meanwhile, we await news on Boateng.

Ouch.

He's been in hospital overnight, and apparently had to have blood sucked from his airways to clear them which sounds remarkably unpleasant. I've heard that a fractured cheekbone is a distinct possibility, and a broken jaw has also been mentioned, but nothing official yet.

If that's the case then - with his contract up at the end of the season - the sight of him being stretchered off the pitch might be the final time we see him in a City shirt.

I saw much of the ManU v. Chelsea match on ESPN2 in HD in the USA early yesterday morning California time. ManU didn't play that great with Rooney out, that's to be sure.

Question: was that match broadcast in the UK and what channel was it on? (I believe the match started at 1200 hours in the UK and as such was not subject to the rule that no Saturday 1500 hours matches could be broadcast in the UK.)

It was live on Sky Sports 1 which for £6 a month you can get on your iphone and with some cables and a little jiggery pokery can be watched on your TV.

Well, Everton probably should have had a penalty.
Hmm, anyone would think West Ham were fighting for their lives, coming back twice from being a goal down :p

Bloody useless, Everton. Gah.
Blame Pienaar, he should be whipped, fined, and benched for leaving his side to chase an impossible ball, exposing all of the left side (in front of a partly injured Baines).

Well, Everton probably should have had a penalty.
I thought that decision was a bit weird, to say the least, especially since West Ham got a penalty in the first half on a similar idiotic challenge (and I don't see why a tap on the ankle is any more a penalty than a kick in the chest).

Oh, well, we weren't really contending for a place in Europe next year, and even if we were we'd only meed some Portuguese team and get knocked out anyway... :p
