That's why, even with Maradona at the helm, you can't write Argentina off for the World Cup. Messi is in world-class form.

Haha...it was a big ask. Squad is just too weak.
Barcelona are set up to get the best out of him, Argentina aren't. Maradona has said recently that he may consider changing his system, but then again he says a lot of things...
Maradona should just be an icon, not a manager.
If you have Messi, you adjust the team to him.
If you are Maradona, you have look at this match and realize that Messi must be utilized properly by Argentina, whatever that takes.
That's the thing... we can see it, the whole bloody world can see it but the question is whether Maradona's ego will allow it.
Indeed. As long as he has at least a decent side around him, Messi can take Argentina to the next level. All Maradona has to do is not monumentally screw things up....again...

About key players missing... the year we get to keep most of them out of injury trouble will be the year we get hold of important silverware.
I'm confident we got one of the best teams in the world if we get to play the best 11.
Not that i've heard, and I'd expect FIFA will be wary of teh backlash if thy were to do so.
In any case, I confidently predict that FIFA's 'commercial partners' will be flooding South Africa with their own heavily branded versions.

To be fair, at this stage of the season injuries and squad management issues are affecting every team. Arsenal are probably the hardest hit though, and if the Gunners had been able to field a first choice 11 including Cesc and RVP, I would not expect them to go down 4-1.
Barca are once again looking like worthy champions though.

Indeed, and it would be churlish not to point out that Barcelona were missing a couple of their key players tonight through injury and suspension. However, as you say Arsenal once again have been hit particularly hard...
The decision making re attacking passes would probably have been better. Defensively, it looked like Vermaelen went walkabout for two of the goals - watching FS Florida via Slingbox and the rate dropped a few times, was it him?
Edit - Is Fabregas capable of man-marking Messi? Thinking of Charlton and Beckenbauer cancelling each other out.

So, Gunners fans, how does Bendtner come out of this?...it seems like he is less in the hot seat than, say Berbatov is with United followers.

I like Bendtner. He did score the all important first tonight.... (too bad it was also the last).
Lets be frank, price tag is a silly excuse; put bluntly I wouldn't take him even if they paid me 30.5 million. The only thing in Bendtner's favour is expectation - be it from his manager or the fans.
