Thomas' celebration after the goal is what pure joy looks like. Epic.

In other news, Cesc has told Arsenal (unconfirmed) that he wants to go to Barca this summer. I'm a little bit unsure whether Wenger should try to hold onto a player that loves Arsenal (and Barca a little bit more) but could become a distraction in the future, or just get as much money out of a summer deal as possible. It's obvious Barca wants Cesc something awful, and the feeling is somewhat mutual.

I think it will play out that Arsene and Arsenal will have a figure, if it reaches that, they will sell, if it doesn't, they won't.. simples! :) I'm going to take a guess at £50 million being that figure. Nice words by Cesc about Arsenal though.

And they were up against the ref; clear pass back!

It was a hot barmy night.

For me "It's up for grabs now" is nearly as satisfying as "And Solskjaer has won it". I understand if it's not quite the same for you.:)

Cheers,
OW

Haha yeah another fairly well known bit of commentary!

"Thomas, charging through the midfield, it's up for grabs now!" Incredible :D

The only thing I don't like about these situations is that the player reduces the amount his team can get for him by leaking it to the public. Now Barca knows Fabregas wants to leave and that Arsenal will be at least somewhat reluctant to keep him. Then again, who knows how many times he has already quietly asked Wenger to send him there.

After Robbie Keane pulled the same thing on Tottenham, I remember being glad at how that worked out. :D

I doubt it is Cesc that is doing the leaking. It seems to be some combination of his dad and Barca.

£50 mil? Might as well go for that Ronaldo money. €100 mil or bust!! :D

Agents are often responsible for 'leaking' a lot of transfer rumours as they attempt to engineer a move for their player.

Hmm... isn't Fabregas' father also his agent? I'm doubtful to say the least that he's in the dark about what his dad is up to.

No, but it's a start. Next on the list are outfield players wearing gloves.

"What you talking about Jaffa? These are my lucky gloves!"

With Rooney it's more like "FFS Jaffa, WTF are you ***** giving it you ***** w****r!!!"

It would obviously be a lazy generalisation to go on about the real reason Scousers wear gloves, but if I may turn our collective attention to the second best city to bookend the M62 – The Times is reckoning this evening that Liverpool are looking to offer Rafael Benitez a severance package to leave Anfield. Breaking news, and all that.

I hope he stays.:D

Meanwhile over at the BBC's Summer Cesc Watch:

In summary, Barca have finally made an offer, Arsenal have told them to knob off. :D

Personally very pleased with the wording of this, some brilliant lines:

Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas is under contract with the Club until the summer of 2015. He is a highly-valued member of the team and part of our future plans.

We have followed recent speculation linking Cesc with a move away from the Club but as there has never been any official approach for him, only two informal exchanges, in which we made it abundantly clear that we have no interest in transferring Cesc, we have refrained from publicly passing comment. However, yesterday evening we received an offer from Barcelona for Cesc and in response, we immediately and resolutely told them once again that we have no intention of selling our captain.

To be clear, we will not make any kind of counterproposal or enter into any discussion. Barcelona have publicly stated that they will respect our position and we expect that they will keep their word.

We expect that they will keep their word.. ie. **** off. Ha.

Arsenal have played it well there. :p Now when Barça put in another bid Arsenal can make a big deal about the fact Barça aren't respecting their position.

Anyhoo... more Fabregas news/rumors/whatever it seems he is thinking of buying out his contract at Arsenal. Not sure how the people at AS.com know this but apparently he is mulling over activating Article 17 in his contract that allows him to buy out his own contract. The only stumbling block is that he would have to stump up €34m.

I'm not sure if he can stump up the cash (somehow) and then Barça reimburse him? Dunno if they goes against any rules?

The article goes on to say Ribery was also mulling this over last season when Real were sniffing around. Turns out he didn't have thirty odd million either. :D

Rafa gone then, yeah. Sort of expected I guess, interesting to see who comes in though..

Fabregas won't buy out his contract. It definitely isn't the end of it, but I think Arsenal have made it very clear he is not for sale - perhaps unless a huge fee comes in.

Seeing as how Benitez's last game in charge was against us (and it ended with his team unable to clinch a victory), can we claim another managerial scalp on a technicality? ;)

As for Fabregas, I expect Barcelona will come in with an improved offer...
