Watching Accrington Stanley vs Fulham. Accrington Stanley having the best of it so far.

Edit: Of course, the minute I type that, Fulham score.

Edit 2: 1-1, game on.

I fancied Notts County today, Wigan are a poor poor side.

Disappointing as far as betting goes but everything is not lost, there's still 45 minutes left..

In other news, Naylor & Kisnorbo apparently both doubtful for the game this evening. Which means Tottenham will score at least five. :(

Wigan are not a poor, poor side. They are incredibly inconsistent though, and tend to struggle against weaker opposition (Lost to Blackpool, beat Chelsea).

United don't look to recover from their -2.. and I am pretty torn. I would probably rather Hull got something from the game than they won 3-0! Some other results not going the right way either, oh well :)

EDIT: And there you go, United 3-0 up.. Rooney hat trick. Looks like the results are going to go tantalisingly close, but not good enough.

Now you tell us :)

In other news, we're 3 for 3 under Irvine, and Laws is 0 for 2 and has been knocked out the FA cup by lower league opposition

Ah well, closer than I thought it would be. Villa unlucky and Wolves disappointing.

£5 on Leeds 1-0 with Beckford the scorer @ 100/1...
£12 on Leeds to win @ 14/1 too.

Beer time!

I saw the last half of the Accrington Stanley match, very cosy little ground and Fulham could have scored a couple more with the chances they had, the younger edition of Riise looked lively.

Leeds could have equalized and even gone ahead had Beckford been a little more precise, but Spurs could have scored at least three themselves. Still an open match, but Spurs look good for a result.

Condolences Jaffa - although if I recall Rooney is your fantasy captain so you, like me, still have something to celebrate.

EDIT: scrappy goal by Leeds but they all count, and it's that man Beckford again. The missed penalty now really becomes an issue for Spurs.

That was a pretty exciting match to watch. Leeds were pinned into their own half for parts of the game but also produced periods of superiority and generally played much better than their position in the English football food chain indicates.

Meanwhile, after all you European types head to bed, I will be watching the USA take on fellow World Cup travelers Honduras in sunny California. I'm looking forward to seeing some of the Columbus Crew out on the pitch. Transfer target Stuart Holden should be out there too.

Speaking of which, Clint Dempsey's injury seems less severe than first reported, he won't need surgery and it is hoped that he will return to action before the end of the season. USA fans everywhere breath a sigh of relief.

EDIT: I HATE to cheer on a "Big Three" club, but I am hoping Arsenal or Chelski take the title this year...I do not want to see United surpass Liverpool's title haul. Soon the danger will have passed, since SAF will retire and United will do a Leeds shortly after.

Missed the Utd / Hull match today (couldn't get out of bed at 7am, alas). Looks like Rooney had quite the day. And funny how Nani looks like a whole different player on the right. Rio had his first game back from injury and solidified the back line nicely.

Unfortunately, I also missed the incident between Rio and Fagan. From what I read, Van der Sar claimed a ball off Fagan, and Fagan reacted by clutching his head, which seems like a clear mockery of VDS's wife's recent stroke. Shortly thereafter, Rio cold clocked Fagan but was not caught by the ref. Surely he'll get a ban from the FA for that. Just what we don't need with so much inconsistency at the back. Grrr.

What a day. I'm not sober I'll tell you that for free.

In case I get up too late to post this before kick-off, my bets for tomorrow. (This might become a regular thing).

Arsenal -1
Celtic -1
Man City -1
Real Madrid -2

37/1 ish.

I've got bets on the fourfold, and doubles as well. Merry FA Cup guys.

I am completely unlucky when it comes to wagers and games of chance...I'll leave the betting to luckier people. :D

Speaking of luck, USA had not a spot of it as our "C" team lost to Honduras 3-1 in a frustrating and frankly fatally dull friendly that was over as a contest after an 18th minute red card left the USA playing with 10 men for almost 80 minutes. The first foul that got Jimmy Conrad carded was a very soft call, the second was a foolish move on Conrad's part. If he was trying to stake a claim to the World Cup Squad he's made a hash of it.

I think both squads will come away having learned very little in the run-in to the World Cup. This was supposed to be an opportunity for the reserve players to make an impression, but USA never played with much cohesion before the red card and afterwords it was even worse. Not what coach Bradley would have wanted.

Honduras played better than us but frankly they looked very flat as well. I'm not sure how many starters they fielded but I hope that was a reserve squad for them too.

Worst USA performance I've ever watched. Let's hope Bradley has the whole "A" team ready to face the Netherlands in March (including Mr. T).

Yes, that for me would take the cake for this already-bad liverpool season. Plus 4 in a row is just unacceptable for the rest of the league.

One thing though, I personally don't think United will fall in burn after SAF leaves. I hate to say it, but I don't think we'll see much difference (as much as I hope I'm wrong).

The club may not totally nosedive, it's true. But whoever succeeds Ferguson is going to have HUGE boots to fill, an arguably inferior squad to the ones Fergie has had to work with for most of his tenure, and a club in a shakier financial situation than ever. It's not a job that many managers would want.

I did not agree with the Ref in either foul; if this is the sort of officiating that can be expected for the World Cup then many will not watch... Honduras was not called for like fouls throughout match and Bradley has more than enough grounds for a formal protest... If you're going to be an awful referee at least be a consistently awful referee...

Agree completely; Bradley's B team has no offense and poor defense, thus USA approaches World Cup with no depth. But we knew that already so it's really no surprise...

Hate to say it but I think Arsenal -1 could be the let down of that bunch, I am tempted to put something on Stoke! We will play with a severely weakened team, Wenger will rest players in preparations for our huge league games coming up.

Still.. I might put a pound or two on four fold.. would kick myself if you won it and I didn't bother! ;)

EDIT: Here we go.. Arsenal: Fabianski, Coquelin, Campbell, Silvestre, Traore, Eastmond, Denilson, Fabregas, Walcott, Emmanuel-Thomas, Vela. Subs: Mannone, Rosicky, Eduardo, Ramsey, Arshavin, Bartley, Frimpong.

Fabregas means make the bet ;)

Four English players in the Arsenal side  Anybody able to tell me when this last happened?
