Must say, I really like the Man City away shirt. What's interesting about it is because of the diagonal stripe across the front the sponsor logo is small and just below the crest.

The sash kit is actually the third strip - the official away shirt is the black one with the yellow flashes on the shoulder.

I know I've said this before, but Manchester City have the nicest set of shirts in the league this season. Lovely stuff.

Robinho on his way out then.

Looking forward to my run of games coming up now: going to Bolton away tomorrow, Villa away later this month, United home, Chelsea away, Liverpool home. Only missing Bolton at home until mid February! Some huge games there which will make or (most likely) break our season.

Just read the headline "Amir Zaki says he is close to joining Hull" in the Guardian. Loan deal till the end of the season.

I wonder which Zaki will turn up...

The one who was statistically the best striker in the world at one point?

Or the one who Steve Bruce described as "the most unprofessional player he had ever worked with"

It'll be fun finding out!

Man, I envy you!
Across the cr@ppy North Sea it can get so hard getting there.

Have fun, m8.

Ah, well – that's the question, isn't it?

At the start of last season he was hugely impressive, banging them in all over the shop and becoming (statistically at least) one of the best strikers anywhere, in the process attracting the attention of some of the top clubs in Europe. But then he went spectacularly off the boil, and when his loan spell at the Latics ended he returned quietly to Zamalek, his Egyptian club.

What we do know is he started behaving in an incredibly unprofessional manner (as capoeirista alluded to a few posts back), including returning late from international duty on a number of occasions and generally being a bit of a tit.

So this is our quandary – he's undoubtedly a fine player, with a past record of scoring goals for a lower ranked Premier League club. It therefore follows that he should be a fine acquisition for us, assuming that he's got his head sorted out. The problem is of course that Brown has a past record of his own of falling out with certain players, and if player and manager become embroiled in a spat then we're not likely to see the best of Zaki to say the least.

One further thing that does concern me is that Zaki apparently turned down a move to Portsmouth last month, the reason he allegedly cited was that he wouldn't sign for a team which contained Algerian or Israeli players, nor one managed by an Israeli (Avram Grant had taken over by this point). If this is true, then it's not exactly the sort of thinking you want at the club to say the least, especially that we have an Algerian – Kamel Ghilas – here already.

As I say, the guy seems to be a bit of a tit – but he could be the tit that scores the goals to keep us up...

Fulham's (and USA's) Clint Dempsey was injured in today's match and initial reports is that it's pretty bad.

Fulham Manager Roy Hodgson said:
The initial prognosis for Clint is not good. It looks like cruciate knee ligament damage and if it is it will keep him out for a while.

Bolton are very unlucky not to have taken points off a somewhat average Arsenal...they had so many chances and duffed them all. But they played well, and got in the Gunners' faces without being dirty, there were a few little incidents but nothing major. I also thought Bolton maintained pretty good possession considering who their opponents were. Klasnic and Taylor just could not finish to save their lives though.

As for Liverpool, I - well, never mind. The less said the better.

Ah, ta for that. I might just have to take a look at that one. The only podcast I listen to regularly is the splendid Football Ramble, for what it's worth.

Duly noted, I'll have to try it.

Ah whilst we're recommending podcasts, my favourite is the Guardian Football podcast. It's presented by James Richardson (for those of you who watched Football Italia on Channel 4 in the 90s), it's pretty good. They've had some good reports from African Cup of Nations recently, and always have the excellent Sid Lowe talking about La Liga.

That's my favorite at the moment. I think it's pretty funny. Barry Glendenning in particular is chuckle-worthy.

I think I have to agree, all three shirts look sharp.

Not good news at all for Fulham, the US national side, or my Fantasy Football team.

At the start of each Fantasy season, he's actually one of the first names I put in my side...

Ditto, ditto and ditto (think I need to use my widcard this week). BAD news for USA, he'll miss our friendly against El Salavador for sure....I hope he's healthy for the Netherlands friendly in March, but I'm not holding my breath...I just hope it's nothing really serious.

On a random note, I read this today and I laughed at the incredulity of it, then facepalmed hard...

Latest from Italy's war on racism: Italian FA pledge "firm action" after Inter striker Mario Balotelli ironically applauds Chievo fans who called him a "f****** monkey", left graffiti at the San Siro reading "A negro cannot be Italian" and chanted "If you jump up and down, Balotelli dies". The result: FA fine Balotelli $10,000 for "inciting crowd disorder".

(Also doing his bit: Cagliari president Massimo Cellino, now bidding to take over at West Ham. Cellino said abuse aimed at Balotelli by his fans last year was "nothing". "Don't misunderstand those noises. It's nothing. In Cagliari, people aren't racist."

Well, we're past the 2,000 post mark which means that it's time for the half-time whistle.

Enjoy the half-time entertainment we've laid on – for the Americans we've organised a monster truck display out on the pitch. Look! There goes the Hull City-themed truck now!

For the Brits, some orange slices.
