When the Banks have full control and SAF leaves, he will be replaced by DF:)

MLS held its draft today, and it was a very dull affair. Columbus picked up a midfielder named Dilly Duka and a forward who answers to the name Bright Dike. And no, I didn't make those names up. :p

Talks continue over the collective bargaining agreement. Two of the biggest issues are raising the salary cap (currently at 2.3 million USD) and free agency. Just a couple weeks left before the current agreement expires.

Well, I ludicrous - Berbatov > Tevez, just get him fit.

Tevez was cheaper, appears to be harder working and never sulks. That's my case for him. But I will not deny that Berbatov has demonstrated massive talent. I just think Tevez has produced more and continues to produce more. Although it should be pointed out that his performances in an Argentina shirt are not so great.

That's very interesting....he and Robbie Rogers are USA's potential future wingers, and both are rumored to be off to Europe within the next year. To land a gig in the Premiership would be another coup for us USA fans, especially in a WC year.

He puts in a good cross.

Wow, that's me just defrosted!

Looks like Spurs fans might be joining us when Rednkapp finds himself in the slammer....

Hang on, the BBC allege that the chairman put $US300k (£180,000) into a bank account thus avoiding £40k income tax/national insurance. What kind of a tax code is he on? Thought high earners paid 50%, not 22% like us scum.

I saw the revised 'Visit California' advert on the telly during the holidays, what kind of accent is that from Beckham??? He had a humorous voice to start, but now he's got an unusual twang (not even remotely Californian!)

Redknapp the bent saggy faced bugger. I guess he's a good manager, but he must be awful at negotiations because every club he leaves seems to have crippling financial issues afterwards.

After all, he's responsible for Utaka being on (wait for it) EIGHTY THOUSAND POUNDS A WEEK.

Fabregas is on 60k.

I read about that recently...that is effing madness.

Redknapp is certainly pretty good manager, and he has a reputation as being a good wheeler-dealer in the transfer market. But I get the impression that he'll always be a journeyman...he gets a sniff at a better opportunity and he's off before the you-know-what hits the fan.

Now, I know I've been defending Rafa here, and I'm still not saying we should sack him, but Hiddink was just quoted as saying he'd like to ply his trade in England...we could certainly do worse than acquire his services. Unfortunately, swapping managers does not change the bigger issue higher up.

Incidentally, on an MLS note – Owen Coyle is apparently looking to make Houston Dynamo's Scottish-born US International Stuart Holden his first Bolton signing...

I hadn't heard of Holden, moved from Scotland to Houston age 10 so it looks like he's a US international based on his number of years at school. Pity.

Owen Coyle is a great signing for Bolton, he was tipped for the Scotland job.

My Italian contact tells me that Hiddink is one of the names being touted as a potential replacement for Ferrara at Juventus...

Yes he was 'seen' eating in a restaurant in Turin last week I think.

Also I've just seen that Paul Hart has left QPR after five games, being the sixth manager to leave since 2007. WTF is going on there?

Paul Hart back at Leeds in the youth development set-up would be nice. Though I think he'll go back into management soon-ish, I hardly think failing at Portsmouth (disaster waiting to happen) and QPR (complete joke) will tarnish his reputation all that much.

His youth team won the FA Youth Cup twice in the mid-late 90s and was basically the backbone of the Leeds Champions League years. Nice bloke apparently anorl.

Interesting to see where Hiddink will end up. I think any top team looking for a manager has him on their shortlist, so he can go pretty much wherever he wants.

Yeah, he's played for the US senior team as well so I believe he's ineligible to switch.

The white boots rule him out. Now gold ... Hull City to copy for 2010/11?
Amber, my dear fellow – amber.

While I approve of the stripe width, the lack of sleeves is a problem – we'd have to sew the arm patches directly onto the skin of the player, which they probably won't like, the great pampered prima donnas.

There's also the fact that Puma shirts are frequently awful...

And the shorts! what's wrong with those Ozzies and their silly Daisy Dukes?

I believe the shirts and shorts are of that design because of the amount of shirt pulling in Ozzie Rules. I would suggest that the tightness of the kit suggest the players may frequent certain pubs and clubs in Canal St, Manchester, but he could probably kick my teeth in.:D

Pulling or lifting? (ducks Ozzie fist)

I had an Ozzie roommate for two years and we gave each other nothing but stick about our respective nations. I once defeated him at table tennis and made a point to sing the Star Spangled Banner for him (after a few beers). He wasn't too thrilled. :D

never mind:) . This isn't american football.

On that topic, Wallstreet Journal today says NFL games contain an average of only 11 minutes of action per game. All that gripping action spread across 5 hours must be heart stopping!

Anyways, back to real football. Now that Liverpool's only hope to impress is the league and Europa league what will happen if they lose away to Stoke tomorrow? Birmingham have a fairly easy game tomorrow against bottom of the league Portsmouth. With a Birmingham win, Liverpool could find themselves in 8th place, and possibly 15 points from Chelsea.

Also, I didn't check to see if this was discussed yet, but the Official Premier League podcast was launched today. Thoughts?

NFL games were once played with far, far fewer stoppages. But now, the game has become inseparable from TV...I can still watch a a game now and then but there are SO many commercials that you watch more commercials and punditry than actual football.

I see little point in making a push in the Europa League. We need to focus on 4th in the league. Period. Our squad is very thin and our best players are hurt or off form or both.
