thanks for the tip on Corus.. Any other apps you happen to know of that streams games on the iphone?

I haven't really looked yet, but I'm sure that you can find a streaming radio app that streams whichever NHL team's local station.

Corus streams all of the Corus owned radio stations in Canada. AM640, which is one of their stations, is the radio home of the Leafs.

By blood and up bringing I HATE the Habs

I dislike the Habs, but it's been a while since I've felt the hate. I guess the closet I come to hating them is when they're playing the Leafs. My wife is a Habs fan (and she hates the Leafs), so I am obligated to dislike them.

The Islanders already lost their game to the Pens tomorrow night.

Classic.

What was the score?

Yeah the islanders season is goign to be long.

I bleed black and gold for the B's but watching O last year he brought so much to the Caps and the overall game I would like to see the Caps in the finals, only to loose to Colorado..

Colorado!?! That team is an epic mess this season. Unfortunately for them, they expect to finish last in the league. Although they killed the Sharks last night, 5-2. They retired Joe Sakic's number 19 last night.

The Panthers vs. Blackhawks game is going on right now in Finland!

Yeah the islanders season is goign to be long.

Just like last year.

I'm expecting a 65-80 point range for them. I think the goalies can steal a few games. We still have nobody in front though.

Classic.

What was the score?

Oh come on, you know it's true. Crosby and Malkin will light us up like there is no tomorrow.

6-1. The one goal was scored by Mark Streit.

^^^^^^Not by Tavares?

Maybe one of your goalies will score the goal.

Is Schremp in the line-up, or did they assign him to your farm team?

I think you're about right with your point range prediction. I think they'll be closer to the 80 than the 65 though.

MR's resident Blues fan checking in, ready for the puck to drop in Stockholm in under 3 hours. Last year was quite the ride and I expect nothing different from the team this year. Tons of upside, but we'll see how it goes. I wouldn't be completely shocked to see this team take a step backwards. I could see the season going marvelously well, though, if all the pieces fall into place.

I see great things for the Blues this season. That team is definitely (finally) on an upswing. JD did a good job reorganizing that team.

I just order the NHL Network in HD 5 minutes ago because I noticed that they're showing the CBC Hockey Night in Canada coverage of the Leafs vs. Caps game.

Nothing like sitting in sunny Los Angeles and watching HNIC at 4 pm!

GO LEAFS GO!

Canucks 0 - 2 during season. What is going on?! They were basically flawless during pre-season.

The pre-season means nothing. The Leafs did well in the pre-season too.

6-1 Caps, end of the second. We're gettin' killed. It's gonna be a long season.......

It's so nice to see the Avs get off to a good start to the season, after being the worst team in the Western Conference last year. This Duchene kid looks really good.

**** YEAH! I think the Avs are gonna surprise everyone this year. I'm not saying they'll make the playoffs, but they sure as hell won't be last in the conference and third to last in the league.

Duchene is rocking it. Fearlessness. Same kind of style that Ovie plays with.
Anderson owned Luongo the other night. I like this guy already. Better than Boooooodai and Theodore.

Speaking of ol' Jose, I hope Varlamov gets starter. He was so insane during the playoffs last season. And if it weren't for Bettman humping Sid the Kid and paying off refs, the Caps would have won it.

Red Wings will suck it up this year. 7th or 8th into the playoffs followed by an early exit.

Phoenix will be last, and just above them will be Vancouver, The Kings, Edmonton, Nashville.

Canucks 0 - 3 - 0. Worst start to a season in 8 years! :(

Don't worry, the Pens had a similar start last season, and I think it turned out okay for them......

Besides, Luongo is typically a slow starter.

Don't start panicking just yet........

The Avs are off to a great start, but reality will catch up to them sooner or later. They just aren't deep enough to continue this level of play.

Duchene is awesome- he'll be the next big star in the league.

Riiight..... Bettman paid off the refs....... okay then.

Wings should be as good as they usually are- there's no reason to think otherwise.

You think Vancouver will be in 2nd last place in the conference? No chance of that. They'll be battling it out for first in their division with Calgary. And the Kings and Oilers may just squeak into the playoffs.

One thing's for sure..... I'm still waiting for the first win for the Leafs. We lost against the Sens, but at least Gustavsson played well in his first NHL start.

Like I said, the Avs may not make the playoffs but they'll be much better this year than last. I'm still not happy that Hanna and Budaj are on the team, and that Lappy isn't. I am extremely over-joyed that Arnason is gone.

I think the Canucks will fall apart, honestly. Luongo is a great goal tender, no doubt, but I just don't think they have it this year. The Kings may rank higher than I say, but I don't think by much. They just don't have it yet. Calgary will be tough this season no matter what. Philly is looking stronger (with Pronger, no less).

The Red Wings don't seem to be clicking like they usually do. The St. Louis Blues? Really? I mean, in a fluke chance, sure, but the Redwings are the best passing and defensive team in the league, period. First, there's just no way they should have lost to the Pens (I hate the Wings, but let's be serious here). Their depth is so much greater than the Pens. But for them to be handled by the Blues 2 games in a row is practically an impossibility! Or should be.

The Leafs? I dunno. They've been garbage for so many years, it would be nice to see them really start kicking ass. Look at Boston! Boston had a phenomenal year last year! Let's hope so for the Leafs this year!

Give the Wings another 6 or so games so that they can get into their usual groove.

The Blues are probably the most underrated team in the league. They were one of the best teams (if not the best) in the second half of last season (25-9-7), and they are just picking up where they left off. JD has done an amazing job putting that team together. The Blues will be the dark horse in the West this season, and will be a powerhouse in years to come.

The Pens were on a mission last season- they didn't want to repeat losing in the Stanley Cup Finals again. They simply played better than the Wings in the finals and deserved to win the Cup.

The Leafs? I dunno. They've been garbage for so many years, it would be nice to see them really start kicking ass. Look at Boston! Boston had a phenomenal year last year! Let's hope so for the Leafs this year!

You and me both.

Hopefully this season will be the beginning of the up-swing for the Leafs. They've got a lot of new players to integrate into Wilson's system, and it looks like they're going to try to work The Monster into becoming the starter. He played well last night, and did what he could do to keep the Leafs in the game. Unfortunately, the Leafs couldn't solve LeClaire more than once last night, and lost 2-1. One of Ottawa's goals was a borderline stick-above-the-crossbar goal (which he couldn't have stopped), and the other was an Alfredsson penalty shot. So he's looking good. Maybe we'll be able to trade Toskala and get something for him- I think his days as a Leaf are numbered.

You're basing this off of either the first 3 games of the season, or an opinion based off nothing. Neither have any merit.

Did you watch the Canucks during pre season? They were amazing. And even during these 3 games, though they lost, they outshot opponents significantly.

We'll see how they do tonight. If by game 11 they haven't won a single match, then I'll start to worry. Remember last year the Canucks lost 10 games in a row mid-season - most of which were home games. Yet they still finished 3rd in the conference, and 5th overall in the entire league.

Well, I was hoping the Monster would be here in Denver, but alas he chose Toronto. Though Craig Anderson did phenomenal in his first two starts (stopping 73 of 75 shots). I hope he solves our goalie problem, I really do. We'll just see and I'll keep my fingers crossed that the Leafs do some damage.

And plus, when your goalie is standing on his head, and your offensive team just isn't getting it done, you can't blame the goalie. Sorry, but I've seen so many games where people are like "they sucked so bad last night, we need a new goalie" when all along it was their offense. You can look at ANY goalie and they've just had bad nights. Roy, Broduer, Osgood, Turco.... any awesome goalie, they've just had bad nights. But they've also kept their teams from losing, or at least given them a fighting chance.

The Blues, yeah, underrated. But c'mon, It's the Wings. The Wings have been a great team damn near the entire time they've been in the NHL, if not the entire time.

Preseason means jack. I've seen teams own in preseasons and become owned during the season. The Canucks have two really good D-men. They have some good offensive power too in the Sedin's and Demitra but I don't see anyone else that really stands out. Raycroft is a sieve (I should know, he played for us last season) and Luongo has been painful for them thus far. Not saying he will be all year, but he's looked BAD.

Hey Surely, first time poster in your thread, Hows Hagman coming along? Before you guys signed him, he was one of my favorite players. He was great on a penalty kill and picked up a few crafty goals.

I have a signed Stars jersey of his on my wall above my couch, next to Modano's. I have one of his sticks also, and the plan was to get that signed as well, but the summer I got the stick was the same summer he was signed.

What you guys think about Ovechkin again this year? Hes already off to a rocket start, and I don't think anyone will be catching him (yes he is tied with a couple players now). Him and Semin....great players.

Looking forward to another great season. Since the Stars have all our players back from injury, we should have a pretty solid team and get pretty far. Hopefully we can pull off this win in Calgary (already up by 2!).

I am also hoping for another repeat for the Pens. I have been a fan of theirs as well for a couple years now.

Ovie rules, man. Sidney Crosby is nothing in comparison to Ovie. If He keeps this pace, he'll have 1,000 goals at the end of a 20 year career. Course, he won't be able to keep it up forever, but he's still got another 8 or so years before he really becomes much slower. He's tough, fast, and godlike with the puck. Meanwhile Nancy Crosby just cries and wines about everything. Sure, he's good too, but he's no Ovechkin.

It will def be a good while before he looses what he has. It is that Russian in him, haha. Built Russian tough.

You sure don't want to see him coming straight at you on the ice!

QFT.

I haven't been in here as often as I should. I mean the Isles have only played 2 games

BTW: See Surely I told you Streit would score :D

Welcome.... and keep posting! But it's not my thread- it belongs to all the NHL fans around here.

Hagman's coming along well. He's averaging over 18 minutes of ice-time a game, and is 2nd on the team in SOG. He had 42 points last season- I can see him cracking the 50 point mark this season.

Awesome jerseys...... I've always loved Modano. The Stars had some bad luck last season, I think they'll be able to get back to the level we're all used to this season. They beat Calgary 5-2 tonight.......

Ovechkin is my favorite player in the NHL. He can skate, score, hit, and looks like he's having the best time playing.

If the Caps can get some solid goaltending, they'll do some serious damage in the East.

As much as I don't like Crosby either, I do respect how good he is. He's going to be awesome for a long time. I don't think we've really seen what he's capable of yet. FFS, he's still only 22 years old.

QFT.

Stop being such a stranger TDD.

You were right about Streit!

I hope there are some good games on NHLHD this weekend. I hope the Leafs/Pens is on it on Saturday night...... EDIT: Just checked, and it is. Awesome. I love 4 pm PST starts.....

Also, I'm going to try to become a Kings fan this season. I figure I should be a fan of the team in the city I live in, right?

I for sure will keep posting.

I to have always loved Modano, but he is getting older, and I don't see him staying around for much longer. Maybe just this last season. I don't expect him to play next season. Even Turco is getting older. I noticed we beat Calgary last night with our back up. Which is great! Finally got our first win.

It is good to see Hagman doing well. It's hard to keep up just with the internet. I don't even have TV hooked up, so I just have to keep checking status regularly. I did notice that NHL game center thing, where you pay $160 for most games in the league. Sounds like a decent deal, as to where if I got my tv hooked up, all I would want to watch is hockey. Since the majority of TV shows are placed on the network's sites. So $160 for all hockey:D. Or $70 a month for one team.

Good luck tonight with the Pens!

Toronto

Tough loss for Toronto, Atleast my boy Hagman pulled in a goal!
We got Vancouver tonight. They have given us some trouble with Luongo. He's a great goalie. I think if we keep using our back up (Auld), get him some playing time, he will get better and better. It will be another close game tonight for the DAL/VAN fans.

Yeah, the Leafs are looking kinda sad so far...... hopefully they'll figure something out and turn it around a little. There's already talk in the Toronto Star about doing something about the coach! WTF, he doesn't have very much to work with just yet, I think it's a tad early to call for him to be fired.

I didn't get to see most of the Leafs game- I didn't get home until there was 10 minutes left in the third period. Doesn't look like I missed much, and I have a good reason- I was at a new mall that just opened nearby (Westfield Culver City- it's as big as the Eaton Centre in Toronto) and decided to buy a Wii while I was browsing at Best Buy. Anyone here have the EA Sports NHL 2010 game for the Wii? I've seen the commercials on the NHLHD channel- it looks good.... anyone?

I think the Stars' chances of winning against the Canucks have improved a little- Daniel Sedin is out for 4-6 weeks with a broken foot.

Injuries sure are starting to pop up, the Ducks have someone out and Detroit has Johan Franzen out as well. Looks like it's starting to look like a long season already for some players.

**** yeah Avalanche! Already looking better than last year! Let's keep healthy and go spank the Leafs tomorrow! :p Sorry, Surely, I just had to.

So. Canucks are without a Sedin for a few weeks, Detroit with Franzen... those two missing will hurt their respective clubs a LOT. Not jsut a little, but a LOT. The Canucks don't have nearly enough depth without both the Sedins, and while Detroit has a ton of depth, they've lost their net battler. Franzen could take a beating to ensure the puck got in there.

I also see that Detroit now has Brad May. Way to go Detroit. Let's see if those two (Bertuzzi and May) can egg each other on to break someone else's neck! Asinine.
