Could've done with one of those goals on Sunday. Also, looks like we have another fine budding talent in Connor Henderson.

My prediction, 5-0 to the Arsenal. Leyton Orient players were celebrating their draw like they won the Champions League. I've seen that too often before and the return leg turns out to be a hiding.

Sometimes I just scare myself. :)

So, what is going to happen at Anfield on Sunday then, Nostradamus? ;)

A complete demolition of Orient by Arsenal, but most Arsenal fans will still be looking back ruefully over the loss to Birmingham and worrying about the trip to Barca coming up. Still, this is one step closer for a chance to win the FA cup, for what that's worth.

Can you imagine it being an Arsenal vs Birmingham FA Cup final. I would looooooveeee that!

But that's exactly what I mean about it being in Arsenal's hands now. Not premature at all. From now on if Arsenal drop points and lose the title it's entirely their own doing. As opposed to having their destiny in Man Utd's hands and relying on them to drop points instead.

Point taken.. I misinterpreted it. Mathematically in our hands, never going to be that simple though

Everything we could've wanted tonight I think.. easy, good, morale-boosting win.. with goals for both strikers who are going to have to take on the burden of van Persie's goals. Super Nick.

Liverpool win 1-0. It'll be a game of tactics by the managers which I reckon Dalglish is slightly better at than Ferguson.

Whoa, small matter of United first! ;)

They're in the same bottom half of the draw anyway, aren't they, so semi-final meeting at best? If that's the way the draw is, then Man City have the easy run on paper - Reading then West Ham/Stoke - so would be the favourite now to make the final. If Arsenal don't do the business it may actually turn out to be a Man Utd v Man City final.

AFAIK there is another draw after the quarters for the semi's? No halves.

Ah, thanks for that, that's the way I always thought it was too. Just that the last couple of years the way they have been listed has been the way they have been drawn top/bottom half, so I assumed they must have changed it. Just coincidence then. See if the same happens this year:

Quarter-finals

Stoke v West Ham
Manchester City v Reading
Birmingham v Bolton
Manchester United v Arsenal

Oh don't mind me i was just fantasizing for a moment, i don't even really see us getting past Utd.

That would do. Liverpool have shown flashes of quality play at times this year. If Dalglish can somehow improve the defensive aspect of the team, and if Suarez and Carroll do their jobs, we can certainly improve quite a bit.

But I'm very skeptical that we can keep a clean sheet. Still, the makeshift United defense is simply asking to be exploited.

In related news, Fergie might be facing a ban for his asessment of Atkinson's performance after the match with Chelsea. It certainly isn't the first time, but I'm sure he'll avoid a ban.

But if Fergie gets a touchline ban, how will he fulfill his post of fifth official? :)

...

My take on the calls during the match, from an admittedly biased point of view, was that Luiz should have been sent off for two yellows. I would not call either foul (the barge on Hernandez and the clip on Rooney) a red card, but both were yellows.

...

The elbow follows the block, it is separate and deliberate. It was clear on the feed I saw, maybe none of the officials had the angle.

Fizzoid - attacking an old man, the youth of today! His pal Walter isn't too happy either; http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/r/rangers/9412386.stm

Is there a stat for added time goals?

Cheers,
OW

Just a run-of-the-mill Old Firm match:rolleyes:

At least El-Hadji Diouf waited until after the final whistle before he got his first red card in Scotland.

Of course, the papers are full of critisism about the way the managers behaved themselves. And of course, the papers are loving every minute of it and milking it to death to flog some more papers.

Just a word of warning to the EPL, the Man U-referee debate has a tinge of the Celtic v refs at the start of this seaon which ended up in a ref strike.

Now that WOULD be funny if Fergie's comments casued a strike :D

They're already asking that he make an appology

And Fergie's been charged over his comments. Guess that was inevitable really, and he already has a 2 match suspension that was suspended from last season

Scotland needs a shakeup, something like a Calciopoli scandal that results in the old Firm getting relegated... Maybe if teams other than Celtic and Rangers were actual contenders it would take some of the focus away from the Old Firm rivalry.

As for Ferg, he should be banned if found guilty. Another suspended ban would simply demonstrate that there is a double standard in the league, or possibly a triple one: one set of rules for Fergie, one for the other top three managers, and a third set for everyone else.

It's funny how rarely drug tests are failed in football, when you look at how often it happens in cycling, athletics and NFL football or baseball. Either the sport stinks at catching it or footballeres are cleaner than most other athletes.

Referee brandishes 36 red cards in one match

A referee has set a record by showing 36 red cards in a single game, dismissing all the players, substitutes and coaches.

The crazy scenes occurred in the fifth tier of Argentinean football between rival teams Claypole and Victoriano Arenas.

With two players already dismissed in the first half, the second descended into chaos when players went lunging into tackles and there were repeated stand-offs between them. It boiled over when a mass brawl erupted that saw the managers and coaches enter the pitch with their fists flying. Some fans were also seen joining in.

Wouldn't be Friday without some kind of loopy news story.
