Everton used to play in salmon pink shirts back in their early days – back then the attitude towards pink and blue were reversed, pink being close to red it was seen as a more masculine hue. It was only in the 20th Century that it changed to being a more girly colour.

The shirt would have looked better had they used more of a salmon pink rather than 80's retro-neon pink.

Meanwhile, our shirts are still rubbish. Pah. :(

Between the Hull City/Stoke shirts and Columbus' away shirt, I wish there was a law against striped shirts with blank backs. I know it's easier to slap a number on a blank back but it's just lazy design, no? Striped shirts look great when done right - West Brom did it well and then put that afwul house-shaped ad on it.

Villa's away kit is awful. Glad Bolton have got rid of that barcode crap on theirs from last season. Spurs' is awful. Sunderland's away kit will either be cool or awful. Stoke's is awful. Chelsea, Fulham & Liverpool sure have bummed up their third kits.

City have the best kit.

The Leeds promotion train is back on the tracks by the way, comfortable 4-0 win over Lincoln (the Arsenal of League Two ;)) has renewed confidence.

You know League Cup games don't count towards promotion, right? ;)

How about that Brett Favre and Darelle Revis, huh? :D

They're signing for Accrington Stanley?

What with Accrington Stanley making it through to the second round of the League Cup, I'm hoping we'll get them in tonight's draw. :)

As for Leeds, there's a chap I know who supports them and – without a hint of irony – always says of their upcoming opponents "Well, it's going to be like a cup final for them". Quite. :p

Extra time for Millwall last night, hopefully they'll all be puffed out ahead of Saturday. Splendid.

Yeah, we paid off a chunk of it from the cash we got from selling our keeper. No idea what the outstanding balance is now though.
More talks of takeovers and investment as well. I've been hearing this for the past 2 years so I'll believe it when I see it. I don't know why we can't find suitable investors, we're one of the oldest established clubs there is, have a huge fanbase and a rich history. It wasn't so long ago we were a top 10 Premier League club who always did quite well in the cups. People have been saying the board are blocking investement and are only interested in themselves. Not sure how much truth is in that

Okay, Boovuzela ready.

Domestic football - Ireland and Bellamy have been omitted from Manchester City's Europa League squad. Looks like the former is off to Aston Villa as part of the Milner deal, where is Bellamy going?

Ireland is a a great player, that goes a long way towards making up for Milner's loss. In some ways he's a better player then Milner anyway. I wonder if Bellamy would get any interest from Liverpool again - now that John Arne Riise's gone he'd have to find someone else to batter with his golf clubs. :D

So, another dodgy goal line decision goes against England. French linesman, 'nuff said! :)

I should note that USA was beaten yesterday by Brazil 2-0. We didn't play our best, but there's not much shame in being beaten by Brazil.

England, on the other hand....oh dear. It sounds like they just can't put the ball on target today.

To be fair, all reports indicate that it was a bad call, but by now England should be a couple goals ahead of the 62nd best team in the world....

EDIT: and as I say that they equalize. Stevie G to the rescue.

Ok, I'll have ketchup on my words please

Edit: And a side order of humble pie to go

This of course means England are sure to win Euro 2012. :D

EDIT: Gerrard is on fire! Bring that form back to Liverpool my son! (This probably means he's about to get injured)

The classic Lampard-Gerrard debate rears it's head. :D

Not a great performance by England against a lowish ranked Hungarian side. Could very easily have been a loss. It's worth noting that Capello switched back to his recently criticised 4-4-2 in the course of the game.

Looking at the replays of the goal that never was, I can't help but wonder if the linesman was confused by the white ball being hooked off the line by a white England boot – in the split second he may have thought he saw more of the ball cross than actually did.

Never mind goal line technology, cameras, chips in ball and other such stuff, clearly it should be mandatory for all players to wear proper black boots – this sort of thing wouldn't happen then. ;)

Ferguson has seen enough - watch out Wayne, Bebe is going to get you (subject to medical :))

Jaffa - I am with you re BBBB, Bring Back Black Boots. Admittedly, not the best acronym.

Cheers,
OW
